    Snr Specialist Stakeholder Relations & Research

    The purpose of this role is to develop and maintain global enabling mechanisms for successful stakeholder identification, engagement, relations and issue resolution in support of the relevant function. This includes:

    • Action research and benchmarking in support of stakeholder relations engagements globally to advance Sasol's issues and reputation;
    • Development and maintenance of globally applicable processes and measures for effective stakeholder identification, issue identification, clustering and reporting;
    • Orientation, sensitization and training with respect to stakeholder relations across Sasol;
    • Compliance, monitoring and reporting on Sasol's relations with stakeholders;
    • Development of policies applicable to stakeholder engagement

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Business Results

    Action research and benchmarking in support of the Sasol stakeholder relations function: 

    • Scan wider environment to identify and prioritise issues that could impact Sasol’s role as a respected corporate citizen;
    • Identify and execute research that supports Sasol’s advocacy efforts e.g. impact of Sasol on the economy;
    • Socio-economic analysis including but not limited to cost benefit analysis;
    • Research and benchmarking of issues and topic prioritisation for management reporting.

    Development and maintenance of processes and measures for effective stakeholder identification, issue identification, clustering and reporting:

    • CoE for Stakeholder engagement approach;
    • Develop metrics to measure engagement effectiveness;
    • Incorporate learnings into issues matrix and topic clustering;
    • Maintain engagement matrix;
    • Implement and maintain stakeholder and issue management software;
    • Being a focal point for integration and synthesis of issues and topics (for example, in updating the commitments dashboard and issues management document quarterly);
    • Define stakeholder engagement process for relevant OME’s;
    • Conduct Group issue clustering;
    • Ensure optimal digitalisation of reporting;
    • Enable team to meet targets through, departmental KPI setting;
    • Manage reporting/board meeting cycle;
    • Managing perception survey process with OMEs.

    Compliance, monitoring and reporting:

    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Sasol stakeholder-focused initiatives and reflect this in the relevant dashboards etc;
    • Integrate and synthesise detailed information for GEC/Board (including engagement reports, briefings packs etc);
    • Issues management reporting;
    • Drafting reports to governance committees.
    • Developing and socialising Sasol positions on issues;
    • Strengthen and execute training programme of the function.

    Development of Group Policies and standards relating to stakeholder relations based on global best practice

    • Review and update stakeholder engagement training material
    • Identify policies required and develop these, based on best practice, suitable for Sasol's circumstances

    Creative Services Practitioner

    • Contribute to shaping Sasol’s reputation and corporate brand through the development, design, and production of creative content across a range of traditional and online communication channels in line with defined business objectives
    • Conceptualise and produce high visual impact design solutions to communicate key messages by developing creative concepts, identifying appropriate media and style to meet internal client briefs whilst supporting business goals
    • Develop design solutions for a variety of activities and channels, including but not limited to digital channels, ATL and BTL advertising mediums, product packaging, exhibitions, events, displays, internal and external communication projects, brochures and corporate identity initiatives
    • Provide specialist / expert knowledge in design solutions to Group Communication and Brand Management in accordance with Sasol’s brand guidelines

    Design and Creative Development

    • Contribute to building Sasol’s reputation and corporate brand through conceptualisation, development, design and production of creative content.

    Corporate Brand Identity Standards

    • Work with Manager: Group Brand management to enforce the policy, standards, guidelines, tools and assurance processes for the Sasol brand
    • Contribute to the design, implementation and maintenance of a brand management framework comprising organisational business processes and policies for general marketing and communication use of the brand
    • Contribute to the design of templates, for use across regions, to ensure brand consistency in local advertising, communication and brand application
    • Assist in the empowering Corporate Affairs practitioners across Sasol to undertake their work with the necessary branding tools at their disposal

    Creative Services Project Management

    • Manage incoming creative services briefs
    • Support for the group and OME creative development requirements and ensure that all creative content is aligned to Sasol brand guidelines and delivered as per the approved creative service level agreement
    • Support the Manager: Group Brand Management in the development and deployment of appropriate brand compliant materials for channel placement across the group
    • Developing design briefs by gathering information and data through in house research e.g. monkey survey and external relevant data.

    Cross-functional support and liaison

    • Interpreting the client’s business needs and developing a concept that meets the brief, and is aligned to Group Communication and Brand Management strategy
    • Maintain strong relationships with relevant Sasol OMEs including (but not limited to) GEC, Investor Relations, HR, Employee Relations, Finance, various strategic projects, Stakeholder Relations, Regulatory Affairs and OME Corporate Affairs specialist and managers
    • Work with Manger: Group Brand Management to guide Corporate Affairs practitioners in the business and functions on their creative development (advertising, brand corporate identity application, exhibitions and activation events)

    Operational, Financial and Technical

    • Using innovation to redefine a design brief within the constraints of cost and time
    • Present finalised ideas and concepts to clients
    • Distributing of proofs to clients and making corrections to produce accurate and high-quality work.
    • Working as part of a team with printers, copywriters, photographers, other designers, account executives, web developers and brand marketing specialists (internally and externally).
    • Ensuring that all graphic design projects have a production schedule in place and that the correct procurement procedures have been followed
    • Ensuring all graphic design and DTP is done with elements and messages that are consistent with the broader Group communication strategy
    • Keeping a detailed file on all design projects and store on centralised portal.
    • Preparing individual budgets for each design project and keep register of actual time spend on each

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience required:

    Required entry Qualifications:  

    • Any B degree (Communications, Media, Marketing or Graphic Design focus preferable) or relevant national diploma (minimum of 2 years).

    Required entry Years of relevant experience:

    • Minimum 4-8 years relevant experience as a Graphic Designer (Four years + with a B degree, alternatively six years + (or more) experience, depending on national diploma.
    •  Experience in a range of channels, including photography and computer-aided design (CAD).
    • Ability to keep abreast of emerging technologies in new media, particularly design programmes such as Quark Xpress, FreeHand, Illustrator, Photoshop, 3D Studio, Acrobat, Director, Dreamweaver and Flash.

    Group Sponsorships Manager

    1. Support shaping Sasol’s reputation and corporate brand by driving the development of a group sponsorship strategy aligned to Sasol's overall group strategy, Corporate Affairs objectives and the corporate brand strategy
    2. Manage a defined group sponsorship portfolio by professionally managing relationships with rights holders, ensuring delivery on contractual obligations and effectively utilising leveraging funds to achieve business objectives through the use of appropriate integrated marketing communication channels
    3. Drive initiatives that support the creation and functioning of Group Sponsorships as a Centre of Excellence with respect to the development of protocols, frameworks, governance processes and measurement tools
    4. Provide strategic and specialist/expert knowledge and support for the management and execution of group and OME sponsorship activities by advising senior leaders and Corporate Affairs practitioners on their sponsorship requirements and support the execution of those requirements, where necessary

    Sponsorship Management

    • Define and implement a group-wide governance framework and approach for considering sponsorship proposals
    • Oversee and manage the group sponsorship portfolio as per Sasol’s existing sponsorship assets
    • Carefully manage the release of funds as per agreed rights fees, document all financial disbursements and track/report on payments for audit and statutory reporting purposes
    • Develop innovative and cost- effective integrated marketing and communication plans to leverage Sasol’s sponsorship assets to meet agreed objectives in line with approved funding to increase brand awareness and return on marketing spend
    • Collaborate with the broader Group Communication and Brand Management team to drive the development of content to effectively position and profile Sasol’s sponsorship assets through the use of appropriate activation mechanisms and communication channels
    • Professionally manage external sponsorship marketing agencies to ensure timeous execution in the development of content, creative designs and activation plans, in line with written briefs and agreed budgets
    • Monitor, measure and report on the performance of Sasol’s sponsorship assets against agreed objectives and demonstrate value of leveraging spend in enhancing the positive associations and awareness to the Sasol brand

    • Drive the setting and enforcement of the group sponsorship policy, standards, guidelines, tools and assurance processes for sponsorship of marketing assets

    • Monitor the effectiveness of sponsorship initiatives through measurement by analysing sponsorship research to evaluate activity against set key performance indicators

    • Establish a highly professional standard of service delivery across the organisation
