    Programme Manager: Sustainable Financing

    Requirements

    • Be in possession of a Master’s degree or equivalent in resource/ environmental economics, business management, or environmental science.
    • Have a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in resource economics, environmental finance, business management, natural resource management, climate change mitigation, and biodiversity management.
    • Thorough understanding of the tourism and conservation industry.
    • Knowledge of tourism and hospitality-related policies that align with relevant legislation
    • Knowledge of implementing business improvement initiatives
    • Understanding of relevant legislation.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop a strategic financing framework(s) in support of nature-based outcomes, including models for leveraging finance to fund various sustainability initiatives to green SANParks operations.
    • Understand develop and support the implementation of innovative nature-based financing solutions and mechanisms, including options for trading biodiversity and carbon credits and Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES).
    • Develop a procurement and sourcing strategy for meeting the sustainability expertise and knowledge required.
    • Strengthen and develop strategic alliances in support of nature-based outcomes within the implementation landscapes.
    • Create mechanisms for conservation-livelihood links, including carbon credits, impact bonds, corridor adherence payments, corridor insurance scheme
    • Create a local tourism carbon-offset program for non-avoidable carbon associated with travel which promotes SANParks as a responsible tourism destination.
    • Scope and develop the best use case for a Conservation Trust Fund or Endowment Fund for SANParks.
    • Support the sustainability reporting activities to internal and external stakeholders

    Senior Manager – Supply Chain Management

    Requirements

    • Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent
    • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply Chain (CIPS), Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) or Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) can be beneficial.
    • 7-10 years of experience in supply chain management with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role working in or within a public sector organisation.
    • Experience in managing large, complex supply chain management operations with multiple stakeholders.
    • Thorough understanding of public sector procurement processes including laws, regulations, and ethical considerations.
    • Strong analytical skills to assess supply chain management performance and implement improvements.
    • Financial acumen to manage budget, analyse cost implications and ensure cost-effective procurement.
    • Risk management skills to identify and mitigate risks associated with supply chain management.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage end-to-end procurement processes, including sourcing, bidding, negotiation, and supplier selection.
    • Ensure that contracts with suppliers are well managed, including monitoring of performance, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.

    • Design and execute strategies that align with the organisation’s goals and regulations.

    • Continuously improve supply chain management to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize waste.
    • Forecast future supply needs based on historical data, trends, and strategic plans, ensuring timely availability of resources.
    • Proactively identify risks related to the supply chain management and develop contingency plans.
    • Develop and implement strategies to ensure continuity during emergencies or unexpected disruptions.
    • Manage the division budget, ensuring that expenditures are within the allocated budget and contribute to cost savings.
    • Conduct financial analyses to assess the cost-effectiveness of supply chain management initiatives and procurement decisions.
    • Establish and monitor key performance indicators to measure financial performance.
    • Manage and mentor teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

    Biodiversity Data Technicians (Fixed-Term Contract)

    Requirements

    • An MSc in Biological Sciences, Conservation Biology or similar.
    • At least six months of experience cleaning and formatting large biodiversity datasets.
    • Excellent data management skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work productively full-time for three months curating, cleaning, formatting and uploading biodiversity occurrence data.

    Desirable

    • Understanding of taxonomic backbones, the Darwin Core standard and database management.
    • Experience working with the Global Biodiversity Information Facility platform.
    • Advanced data manipulation skills using functions in MS Excel, R or OpenRefine.

    Responsibilities

    • Curating, cleaning and formatting of biodiversity occurrence data.
    • Uploading biodiversity occurrence data to the SANParks BIMS.
