    Lecturer: New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP) (Faculty of Education: Department of Science & Technology Education)

    Responsibilities:

    • In line with the Department of Higher Education and Training's nGAP, the Faculty of Education at the University of Johannesburg is seeking to make an appointment of a lecturer at the CALTSTEAM research centre in MSTEd. We are seeking an exceptionally motivated, qualified and ambitious aspirant South African academic to contribute to and expand the centre’s research profile.
    • The successful candidate will be expected to contribute meaningfully to existing research projects of the centre, and to conceptualise and lead new projects in advanced learning technologies in the context of STEAM education.  The appointment also includes administrative duties, teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate modules, and the supervision of postgraduate students.

    In particular, the incumbent will be expected to:

    • Register for the PhD degree, if not already held and obtained a minimum of 70% in their Masters.

    • The Oracle Technical Developer is responsible for the design, development, and unit testing of technical solutions within Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) across HRMS, Financials, and SCM modules, as well as Oracle Fusion Cloud applications.     Central Compliance Officer (P8) (Financial Governance & Control Division: Risk & Assurance)

    Job Specification:

    • The Compliance office is mandated by the Council to ensure that the Council and management and the staff members discharge their responsibilities to comply with the applicable compliance obligations, through the implementation of the compliance framework, policy, process, and services. The role of Central Compliance Officer supports the processes which reside within the compliance office for proper integration in the applicable departments. 
    • UJ seeks to appoint a competent and strong-minded individual with the ability to implement a compliance process in the divisions of the University, to assist the central compliance office to operationalise compliance management in the University structures in line with its strategy.

    Responsibilities:

    • Implement the University’s Central Compliance Management Implementation Plan in the divisions;
    • Support management to Identify, assess and manage compliance obligations in the divisions;
    • Plan and facilitate compliance workshops for the assessment of compliance risks;
    • Support compliance office to facilitate the development and maintenance of a compliance universe and cascade the relevant obligations in the divisions;
    • Monitor regulatory development on continuous basis to identify relevant developments and changes in the university regulatory landscape;

    Minimum requirements

    • A PhD/Doctoral degree in English Language and Literacy Education
    • Excellent track record as a postgraduate supervisor.
    • A research track record in an English language and literacy primary school education-related field. 
    • Higher education teaching and supervision experience in the language education field.
    • Detailed knowledge of one or more of the knowledge areas in English Language and Literacy for the primary school

    Practitioner II: Primary Health Care Nurse (P8) (Registrar- Centre for Student Health & Wellness)

    Job Description:

     

    The incumbent will provide comprehensive health and wellness services to students within the university environment. A fully functional PHC service is available on all four campuses, offering the following services: Primary Health Care, HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT), Reproductive Health Care, Travel Health, health promotion, monitoring of chronic medical conditions, provision of medical support to sports events and vaccination programmes to specific students. Interaction with students occurs even outside of the clinic environment with activation programmes and awareness campaigns.

     

     

    Responsibilities:

    The Practitioner II: Primary Health Care Nurse is responsible for the promotion of excellence in the provision of a healthy lifestyle within the Centre for Student Health and Wellness. His/her duties include the following:

    • Provision of a comprehensive Primary Health Care package to all clients daily.
    • Working closely with the Medical Doctor to provide optimum healthcare.
    • Ensuring good Pharmacy Practice.
    • Management of stock controls for equipment and medical supplies.
    • Providing youth-friendly services daily in the facility.
    • Sustain quality assurance throughout the clinic activities.
    • Providing a caring environment for the patients and clients.
    • Ensuring adherence to proper waste disposal techniques.
    • Ensuring adherence to universal principles of infection control.
    • Managing the performance, training, and supervising a team of administrators and Counsellors who are responsible for day-to-day activities.
    • Ensuring full compliance with all policies and procedures relevant to the health facility consistently.
    • Ensuring staff and processes work effectively in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements.
    • Ensuring compliance of all staff with procurement policies and procedures.

    Minimum requirements

    • NQF 7 Diploma/Degree: General Nursing, Community Health, Psychiatric Nursing and Midwifery.
    • Advanced Diploma in Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment, Treatment and Care.
    • Dispensing Licence.
    • Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in General Nursing and Primary Health Care Nursing in a Public and/or Private sector.
    • Experience in management of a Primary Health Care unit, including supervision over staff.
    • Extensive experience as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
    • HIV/AIDS and ART management experience.
    • Health Promotion experience.
    • Reproductive health experience, including the latest developments in Family Planning methods.
    • Good knowledge of legislation related to PHC.
    • Knowledge of Clinical principles in the management of minor ailments.
    • A valid driver’s license.

    • The Department of Education Leadership and Management is one of five departments in the Faculty of Education at UJ.
