    Talent Acquisition Specialist

    The role:

    We are looking to strengthen and build our team with the best available talent and we need a Talent Acquisition Specialist to enable us to do so. As a Talent Acquisition Specialist at Valenture, you will be responsible for identifying hiring needs within the team, as well as brainstorming and implementing creative ways to build candidate pipelines, fill urgent vacancies and take responsibility for the full recruitment cycle.

    The Talent Acquisition Specialist will work alongside Hiring Managers, Talent Management and the rest of the business in order to best plan for hiring needs.

    The successful candidate will need to have outstanding communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, the ability to implement candidate sourcing strategies, proficiency in best utilizing an Applicant Tracking System

     

    Responsibilities:

    • As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, you will be responsible for the full recruitment cycle at Valenture, which includes screening of candidates, active sourcing of candidates, competency based interviewing.

    • The Talent Acquisition Specialist will work closely with the Recruitment Manager in order to ensure that the candidate journey is positive and effective.

    • Form close relationships with hiring managers to ensure clear candidate/interviewer expectations and identify hiring needs in different areas

    • Determine selection criteria for candidates by liaising with managers and other members of staff

    • Source applicants through online channels, such as LinkedIn and other professional networks

    • Create interview questions that reflect the requirements for each position

    • Manage the overall interview, selection, and closing process

    • Ensure all screening, hiring, and selection is done in accordance with Valenture’s internal Recruitment Policy and is fair

    • Perform reference checks as need

    • Facilitate the offer process by extending the offer and negotiating employment terms with successful candidates.

    • Work alongside the Talent Scout’s in order to ensure that speed to hire is as efficient as possible.

    • The Talent Acquisition team will be responsible for representing the Valenture employee brand to potential candidates.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, or similar

    • 2-3 years of experience as a Talent Acquisition Specialist, or similar

    • Experience in using LinkedIn solutions and the likes, to proactively source candidates

    • Proficiency in documenting processes and keeping up with industry trends

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

    • Demonstrated ability to establish effective and cooperative working relationships built on trust

    • Excellent organizational and time management skills

    • Comfortable making decisions independently

    • Working knowledge of interview techniques and applicant screening methods

    UCT Online High School | Learning Designer | Grades 10-12 Accounting

    The Learning Designer role at the Valenture Institute is primarily responsible for curating, augmenting, creating, and quality assuring secondary school course content and assessments that are suitable for high-touch online delivery. The incumbent will play a vital role in ensuring that the development of content is relevant to the learning cohort, of high quality and; developed within the required timelines and the scope of the project. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Responsibilities

    • Use subject policy statements to ensure that content meets the required examination standards, and determine the adequacy or inadequacy of content.

    • Conduct planning and analysis per subject area to recommend appropriate design solutions and strategies for online delivery.

    • Analyse the characteristics of Valenture’s learning management system (LMS) and emerging technologies and use the unique affordances of these technologies to make design decisions.

    • Transfer textbook-based content into a richly augmented format that meets online delivery objectives.

    • Develop educational content from scratch, making use of various sources, into a richly augmented format that meets online delivery objectives.

    • Research and source appropriate reference materials for the development of courses.

    • Collaborate with production specialists to create targeted content in a wide variety of mediums to complement or support the curriculum.

    • Design and create targeted continuous assessment strategies that support students in their progression towards their summative examinations.

    • Work with project management and various operational stakeholders to ensure that deadlines are adhered to and that project communication takes place in a timely and effective manner.

    • Work on evaluation strategies to review the effectiveness of a design strategy, and review content at set intervals as part of Valenture’s approach to continuous improvement.

    • Perform auxiliary tasks, including, but not limited to briefing in graphics, and tracking the use of external assets.

    • Perform peer reviews across subjects and qualifications.

    • Contribute to department process improvements.

    Requirements

    • Demonstrable experience as a Learning Designer, Instructional Designer, Curriculum Developer, Technical Writer, Editor or Journalist

    • Experience in the EdTech field is advantageous

    • Teaching, tutoring or training background, and familiarity with CAPS curriculum is beneficial

    • Comfortable with the subject area of one of the subjects being developed

    • Knowledge of digital learning principles and practices will be advantageous

    • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy

    • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and build collaborative work relationships

    • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills

    • Must be comfortable working remotely and independently

    • Ability to learn quickly and to work in a team environment

    • Demonstrated ability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and able to prioritise work appropriately

    • Stable internet connection required

    • Having your own laptop would be an advantage but is not a requirement

    Talent Scout

    We are seeking a dynamic, proactive and energetic Talent Scout, to provide hiring and administrative support to all Hiring Managers, as well as a team of Talent Acquisition Specialists. The successful candidate will need to be extremely organised and detail oriented, they will need to remain informed on recruitment needs throughout the business; they will also need the skills necessary to assess candidates skills, experience and knowledge and be able compare them to the requirements across various jobs. They will be required to support our Talent Acquisition Specialists with our speed to hire and satisfying our forecasted recruitment needs.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Support the Talent Acquisition team, as well as broader Talent team, as required within the recruitment and Talent function.

    • Provide recruitment reports to the relevant Talent Acquisition Specialist.

    • Take ownership of ensuring that all job postings, job descriptions, and position requirements are up to date on all of our advertising platforms.

    • They may be required to conduct competency-based interviews as well as possess the ability to interview executive-level candidates confidently.

    • Source candidates using a variety of search methods as well as execute on active outreach strategies, as informed by the Talent Acquisition team.

    • Screen candidates by reviewing CV’s and job applications, and performing initial screening screenings.

    • Do all the relevant background checking and referencing.

    • Advertise on the relevant job portals and websites.

    • Assist in keeping the careers page up to date.

    • Update and keep the Applicant Tracking System and relevant candidate administration up to date.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

    • 1 year of recruiting experience preferred

    • Excellent organizational and time management skills

    • Comfortable making decisions independently

    • Good interpersonal skills.

    • Strong command of the English language - both verbal and written

    Finance Intern

    The role:

    We’re looking for a Finance intern to join our dynamic Finance team based in Cape Town/Remotely.

    The ideal candidate would have an inquisitive mind and an eagerness to learn and upskill themselves.

    The main function of the Finance Intern is to assist the Valenture Finance Team with various generalist finance responsibilities. The intern will gain exposure to the day to day accounting process.

    Day to day responsibilities include:

    Accounts Receivable:

    • Liaise with parents and guardians regarding any accounts queries.

    • Assist with the generation of student invoices.

    • Monitor payments received and matched within the system, and highlight non-paying students for follow up.

    Accounts Payable

    • Assist with performing supplier reconciliations on a monthly basis.

    • Creditors filing.

    Any other ad hoc finance tasks as required by the finance manager.

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 with a pass in accounting

    • Bookkeeping experience would be an advantage

    • Must be based in Cape Town

    • Must be able to speak fluent English and isiXhosa or isiZulu

    • Must be available to work immediately
