    Director: Connected Business (DEDAT 55/2025)

    Job Purpose    

    • The Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Western Cape Government is seeking a dynamic and innovative senior manager to drive and implement the Connected Business programme within the Western Cape.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree at NQF level 7 as recognised by SAQA;
    • 5 years’ middle and/ or senior management experience in a public or private sector environment; and
    • 5 years’ experience in managing multi-stakeholder partnerships involving government, private sector, and civil society.

    Key Performance Areas    

    • Strategically leverage government broadband infrastructure to support business growth and development in the Western Cape and design and drive programmes in this regard
    • Develop and facilitate an incentive programme that will enable entrepreneurs to access the Broadband infrastructure and also serve as an assessment instrument to measure the effectiveness of the broadband infrastructure for job creation in the Western Cape economy.
    • Develop and facilitate the implementation of support programmes for NGO's within the ICT and related environment which aligns with the objectives of the Western Cape Broadband Initiative.
    • Coordination of all relevant stakeholders and public relations functions related to the projects under supervision.
    • Drive the development and implementation of the Directorate’s strategic and project/ business plans. This includes the monitoring and evaluation and reporting functions.
    • People and Financial Management of the Directorate.

    Competencies    

    • Extensive knowledge of applicable policies and procedures
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of information systems
    • Knowledge of management principles
    • Knowledge of the Public Service Regulatory Framework
    • Knowledge of people management practices and processes
    • Knowledge of Labour relations
    • Financial management

    Remuneration    

    • All-inclusive salary package of R1 266 714.00 per annum (Level 13). Note: The remuneration package consists of a basic salary (70%) and the employer’s contribution to the Pension Fund. The remainder of the package may be structuredaccording to your personal needs.

    Deputy Director: Oil Gas and Maritime Sector, Ref No. DEDAT 03/2025 R1

    Job Purpose    

    • The Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to work in the maritime and logistics sector to implement the economic strategy of the Western Cape accordingly.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • An appropriate 3-year B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Economics or Logistics; A minimum of 3 years management experience.

    Key Performance Areas    

    • To develop operational Oil, Gas and Maritime sector programmes derived from the strategic framework for Trade and Sector Development (TSD);
    • Maintain networks with key stakeholders and ensure horizontal and vertical alignment with the sector;
    • Support and implement the market growth and promotion of the sector;
    • Identify sector specific blockages and participate in the unblocking of opportunities in order to achieve strategic outcomes;
    • Co-develop and support programmes to improve sector competitiveness and development; To act as a project manager for the various Oil, Gas and Maritime programmes being designed and developed through national and provincial; Human Resource Management; Financial Management.
