    Tax Analyst

    Introduction

    • To manage the Tax risks of Woolworths.
    • Which includes ensuring that statutory returns are timeously completed and submitted according to legislative and SARS requirements.
    • And ensuring that relevant accounting entries are processed and correctly disclosed in the financial statements.

    Job description

    • Ensure that tax returns and provisional tax return are completed timeously and that all required schedules have been completed and submitted.
    • Ensure that VAT returns are completed timeously and that all required schedules have been completed and submitted.
    • Ensure that tax computations and reconciliations are completed accurately and timeously.
    • Ensure that deferred tax reconciliations are completed timeously and accurately.
    • Complete the tax disclosure for the financial statements.
    • Ensure that information substantiating tax computations is accurate and provide analytical evidence. 
    • Continuously monitor systems and processes, including change initiatives, to ensure compliance.
    • Make presentations to the tax committee (which includes the financial director)
    • Provide excellent tax information/advice to management as part of the decision making process.
    • Attend to international tax issues
    • Maintain up-to-date, detailed knowledge of trends and changes in Tax legislation by regular attendance of professional courses, workshops, etc.
    • Assist with Transfer pricing.
    • Assist with advice Payroll taxes.
    • Assist your colleagues and the tax department with achieving its goals.

    Minimum requirements

    • CA (SA), and it would be advantageous to also be a Higher diploma in taxation
    • Must have articles at an accounting firm
    • Understanding of GAAP / IFRS
    • Knowledge of Tax Legislation.

    Site Services Manager

    Introduction

    • Are you interested in a Site Services Manager opportunity in our Maxmead (Pinetown) Distribution Centre?

    Job description

    MAIN PURPOSE

    • To cost effectively manage site assets, facilities and services and comply with relevant legislation.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop a one-year operating plan that optimize campus engineering and ensures it is understood by all employees and measured by scorecards.
    • Develop, monitor and control one-year budget to deliver operating plan.
    • Manage the delivery of site engineering operational service levels.
    • Managing and monitoring of the Building management system.
    • Monitor of all energy and water consumption on site.
    • Ensure all electrical/mechanical equipment on site is serviceable, to enable the campus to operate efficiently.
    • Ensuring the maintenance of temperature disciplines in cold chain, choc box, banana box and frozen box.
    • BCP plan is in place for the site and regularly updated.
    • Provision of security services and fire protection services.
    • Management of the campus facilities.
    • Adherence to the OHASA, SABS Code of Practices, ASIB, environmental legislation and any other legislation.
    • Provision of gas and CO2 services.
    • Manage the business unit against the standards set in the OEC in line with Best Operating Practice.
    • Build, develop and entrench a high-performance culture within the Site Services team, by providing leadership, guidance, support and hands-on coaching to the managers to deliver the business objectives.
    • Manage the business unit EE targets, integrated performance management, talent management and succession planning, reward and recognition and employee relations in line with business requirements.
    • Management of all service contracts through SLAs.
    • Driving sustainable community-based activities.
    • Manage corporate governance requirements including financial controls, business continuity plans and legal compliance.
    • Demonstrate effective leadership aligned to the Woolworths Values to ensure delivery of the Supply Chain Strategy.

    KEY COMPETENCIES

    Systems, processes & Technical competencies:

    • Mechanical or Electrical engineering background
    • Ability to conceptualize and implement synergies in different operations

    • Ability to analyse and interpret financial and performance indicators at a detailed level.

    Minimum requirements

    OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS

    What experience (e.g. previous exposure) does the job require?

    • Up to 5 years relevant working experience at a senior level within a Distribution or Logistics environment 
    • Experience with quality assurance interventions 
    • Experience in contract management, including relevant legal requirements

    What theoretical knowledge (e.g. degree / diploma) does the job require?

    • 4-Year Electrical or Mechanical Degree.
    • This qualification must be coupled with practical experience as indicated below
    • Registered engineer to practice in South Africa with GCC
    • Project management 
    • Exposure to Six sigma or other relevant continuous improvement tools

    Business Process Manager

    Introduction

    • Champion, optimise and enhance the Fashion | Beauty | Home (FBH) buying and design processes as well as the broader Woolworths merchandise Cycle.
    • Your job will be focused on optimising as well as delivering projects and enhancements that make us simpler and faster, future fit within the buying and design process remit. You will play a key role in the use, adoption & improvement of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and Edited reporting platform.

    Job description

    • Business Process Optimisation (buying and design)
    • Continually seek process/system improvement opportunities within FBH buying and design, drawing on their functional expertise.
    • Define, manage & communicate the implementation of changes / projects that deliver improved business solutions alongside the FBH Change manager, the FBH Academy and project teams.
    • Sign off business requirement specifications for on-going projects in conjunction with the business champion if relevant.
    • Perform the role of a process owner or custodian for the relevant functional FBH processes i.e. act as functional expert, represent the user needs, monitor Group adherence to principles and disciplines.
    • Stay up to date on best practices and anticipate industry trend opportunity across FBH

    WMC management

    • Working closely with the Head of Strategy execution in FBH as well as FBH leadership teams to publish key dates and calendars which guide the Woolworths merchandise cycle.
    • Work with the business and projects to document and implement any changes required to the WMC as dictated by changes in the operating model, strategy or to improve process.
    • Reporting on Group adherence to the critical path and key calendars.

    Strategy input and support

    • Consult and partner with relevant business areas in support of their business strategies

     Process and System Support

    • Support the FBH buying and design processes and systems, with the assistance of Process Analyst and Support Specialists.

     Stakeholder engagement

    • The role involves interaction and cooperation of stakeholders across various businesses and technical teams, therefore it is essential that you are able to communicate at various levels and that you have strong project management skills.
    • Facilitate the acceptance and ownership of new business solutions.
    • Develop stakeholder relationships within relevant functional areas.
    • Work closely with the Business Development team including Business Process Managers, Change Manager, Academy Manager and Improvement Projects Manager to ensure that changes and projects are embedded and integrated.

     People

    • Effectively manage and influence the teams responsible for delivering new business solutions (e.g. project managers, process analysts, change managers, system analysts, etc.)

    Minimum requirements

    • Retail or associated business experience (5 – 10 years)
    • Project management experience
