    Diesel Engineering Foreman - eMalahleni

    More of your responsibilities will include:

    • Ensuring the code of practice and procedures are updated and communicated
    • Ensuring that machinery and equipment perform safely to design capabilities while ensuring environmental compliance
    • Develop and implementing appropriate maintenance systems and monitor feedback received in relation to equipment breakdowns
    • The development of project plans with Engineering Planners while ensuring cost management and carry out the annual budgeting exercise, control overtime worked and expenditure
    • The monitoring and reporting on financial expenditure will be essential
    • Ensure team roles are well defined while supporting and participating in the training and development requirements of each team member. As part of this role you will mentor and coach employees
    • Manage and supervise a team of diesel mechanics, ensuring that all maintenance and repair tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively
    • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and plans for diesel equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify any potential issues or areas for improvement
    • Coordinate with the procurement department to ensure the availability of spare parts and consumables for diesel equipment
    • Monitor fuel consumption and implement measures to optimize fuel efficiency.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and company policies
    • Provide technical guidance and support to the maintenance team as needed
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance

    Qualifications

    • Matric/ Equivalent
    • Technical N3
    • Diesel Mechanic or Earthmoving Machinery Trade Certificate

    Experience

    • 5 years’ experience as an artisan
    • Acting experience as a foreman

    Additional Information

    • Computer literacy
    • In depth understanding of relevant safety, mining legislation including The Mine Health and Safety Act, Minerals & Energy Act

    Technician Superintendent - eMalahleni

    Your key responsibilities will include: 

    • Managerial and Advisory Authority in ensuring we conform to industry leading best engineering practices, implementation and adherence to Thungela standards and procedures and utilise the latest technology in the Control and Instrumentation field
    • Managerial Authority and Direct Responsibility in building and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships ensuring that all stakeholders are kept up to date
    • Managerial Authority in ensuring effective and efficient Investigation of stoppages and failures of equipment at the processing plant including incident investigations and conducting instrumentation audits
    • Advisory Authority in providing assistance, guidance and advice to the processing plant operations on issues pertaining to the replacement and upgrading of equipment for the operation as well as the breakdown and repair of control equipment
    • Auditing Authority in conducting C & I audits on processing plant equipment, standards, back up procedures, programmes, storage, and networks and ensure that Thungela standards are adhered to at the operation
    • Managerial and Advisory Authority in effective People management ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and that competencies and learning paths are developed to human capacity and capability
    • Demonstrate effective financial control, budgeting and forecasting over the C&I department
    • This role is in the Engineering Department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Section Engineer, with a team of Technicians/Mechanicians as direct reports.

    Qualifications

    • National Diploma/ Degree or N6 in Electrical Engineering (Light Current), Electronics Engineering or Process Instrumentation
    • Registered as a Technologist with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) would be advantageous
    • Experience as a Radiation Protection Officer would be advantageous

    Experience

    • A minimum of 5 years post qualification instrumentation experience in a processing plant  environment, with at least 2 years at a Supervisory or similar level experience is required
    • Experience in Siemens and/or Koyo Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) would be advantageous

    Additional Information

    • ​​​​​​Valid Certificate of Fitness.
    • Valid South African Driver’s License.
