    Process Engineer

    Job Description

    • Responsible for one or more process units, preferably Refining
    • Do routine monitoring of the overall plant health and performance.
    • Do detailed monitoring and rating of equipment.
    • Issue weekly and monthly reports.
    • Support and lead troubleshooting efforts.
    • Identify plant constraints and perform an evaluation / study to remove constraints.
    • Provide technical responses to Safe Operating Limit, Integrity Operating Window and Critical Process Variable deviations.
    • Provide guidance to Operations on optimisation of the plant; leverage simulation tools and Adcon functionality.
    • Participate in or lead Management of Change activities.
    • Give input to Turnaround / Regen work scope and compile work instructions.
    • Participate in the Unit Reliability Brief meetings and elevate threats timeously.
    • Lead and support Profit Improvement projects.
    • Provide design input to field projects.
    • Give input to the short and medium term operating plan.
    • Provide general technical support to Operations, Reliability & Maintenance, Planning and Environmental Health and Safety.
    • Organise test runs and workup the information, for simulation tool calibration and routine monitoring.
    • Ensure the integrity of monitoring tools are maintained by following a rigorous governance process when making changes.

    Requirements

    • BSc / B Eng in Chemical Engineering.
    • Minimum 8 - 10 yrs' working experience, preferably in a Refining or Process plant environment

    Safety Specialist - Control of Work

    High risk/controlled activities include, but are not limited to:

    • Working at heights
    • Working in confined space
    • Working in inert environment
    • Working in environment where there is hazardous energy (e.g. steam, electricity)
    • Working in environment where there are hazardous substances (e.g. gas, hydrocarbon liquids)

    Processes associated with high risk/controlled activities include, but are not limited to:

    • Develop, maintain and implement Refinery specific training material and programmes relating to Safe Work Practices Processes (Work at heights, confined space entry, permit to work and Isolation of Hazardous Energy) through:

    Training needs analysis:

    • assess the need for alignment and in-depth training for Contractor Supervisors and Astron Energy teams (most critically the Operations and Maintenance teams) with input from Astron Energy Learning and Development (L&D).

    Scheduled training:

    • Plan, schedule and track all Safe Work Practice training
    • Conduct technical/functional training for:
    • Permit to Work Training full course
    • Permit to Work 3-yearly requalification training for Astron Energy Personnel and Contractors.
    • Gas Tester Training
    • Lock out Tag out training for Astron Energy Personnel and Contractors.
    • Working at heights training for Astron Energy Personnel and Contractors.
    • Confined Space Entry training for Astron Energy Personnel and Contractors.
    • Life Saving Behaviours for Astron Energy Personnel and Contractors.
    • Hazard Identification training for Astron Energy Personnel and Contractors.
    • Ensure up to date and accurate training record system in place for the refinery.
    • Support the Refinery L&D Supervisor, with any training related activities as and when required.

    Effectiveness evaluation:

    • Evaluate effectiveness and understanding of Safe Work Practices processes through site safety inspections and Safe Works Practices audits.
    • Participate in incident investigations relating to controlled activity incidents to evaluate effectiveness and understanding of Safe Work Practices processes.

    Improvement:

    • Edit, modify, and align Safe Work Practices training material as needed to improve effectiveness and/or understanding and so ensure that training material remain accurate and up to date incorporating changes to Industry Best Practices, corporate standards and organisational knowledge (based on learnings from inspections, audits, incident investigations).
    • Coach and align Operations, Maintenance and Contractors with regards to changes to Safe Work Practices processes.
    • Supervise Field Safety Officers appointed to support Business Teams North and South with Safe Work Practices process implementation and adherence to Safe Work Practices requirements.
    • Mentor Astron Energy Essential Leadership Team (ELT) members to enable them to verify adherence to Safe Work Practices requirements for high-risk jobs during their monthly field inspections.
    • Align Astron Energy training relating to Working at heights, confined space entry, lifesaving behaviours and Isolation of Hazardous Energy.
    • Train all Astron Energy personnel (Refinery, Logistics and Retail) on working at heights, confined space entry and Isolation of hazardous energy to ensure alignment all through the business units

    Professional Qualification and Certifications:

    • National Diploma in Safety Management or National Diploma in Chemical Engineering with SAMTRAC or NEBOSH
    • Qualification/certification in the following would be beneficial:
    • Taproot investigation
    • Training Facilitation
    • ISO 45001:2018

    Work Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ Refinery Operations experience and qualified to operate at least 2 operational units.
    • Demonstrated experience with developing safety related Processes/Procedures/Standards
    • Demonstrated experience with safety related training (content development; administration; beneficial if facilitated)
    • Demonstrated experience with planning and implementing safety related site inspections and audits.
    • Demonstrated experience in mentoring safety officers.

    Knowledge and skills:

    • Understanding of Astron Energy Safe Work Practices Standards (Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry, Isolation of hazardous energy, Excavation, Hot Work, Lifting & Rigging).
    • Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993
    • Demonstrated ability to provide safety guidance to operations, staff, technical groups, line-management, and provides guidance for safety representatives of onsite contractors.
    • Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity for various cultures, styles, and beliefs.
    • Demonstrated skills in usage of MSOffice and Isometrix

    The following would be beneficial:

    Contractor - Sales & Operation Planning Analyst

    Job Description

    • Support the delivery of the 3 month plan for the fuels value chain through optimisation of the production, supply, and distribution plans
    • Maximise enterprise value by developing and publishing a supply and distribution plan for all products across the fuels value chain
    • Performs tactical market and competitor analysis on a regional and/or specific issue basis
    • Assists in the Budget/Capital planning process and provides management with the necessary information to develop the Business Plan
    • Collaborates with NWTs (Natural Work Teams) to ensure that business needs are being met and to determine and resolve risks to plan and to capture market opportunities
    • Tracks and adjusts plans to meet inventory targets and supply plan
    • Provide input into monthly key performance reports
    • Lead and support cross-functional meetings to analyse, review and align on the supply and demand plan
    • Provide detailed inventory progressions, as required
    • Conduct analysis of the supply chain to determine optimisation opportunities, including commercial, cost reduction and distribution or scheduling optimisation
    • Align the refinery campaign plan, the 3 month S&D, the shipping plans and the buy/sell plans to ensure an integrated plan
    • Develop plans to drive the business to achieve inventory to target levels to manage working capital and flat price exposure
    • Provide inputs into other planning activities, including refinery campaign plans, 3 month S&D, demand forecast, buy/sell plans and finance forecasts, as required
    • Provide insights into other planning processes to seek opportunities to maximise enterprise margin and to manage and mitigate risks
    • Participate in root cause analysis to manage deviations, identify lessons learned and implement continuous improvement
    • Provide support to develop business continuity plans in the event of supply or market disruptions that could lead to stocking out or supply rationing
    • Ensure that plans meet demand to manage and avoid product stock outs and rationing
    • Highlight plan risks to identify mitigations and opportunities to minimise risk impact

    Professional Qualification and Certifications:

    • A University Degree in Engineering or Supply Chain Management

    Work Experience:

    • 5 years or more in supply chain planning
    • Experience in scenario modelling
    • Advanced Excel skills is a must
    • Use of scheduling tools is an advantage

    Knowledge and skills:

    • Experience in supply chain optimisation and related fields; planning, optimisation and economics, inventory management, refining/ manufacturing
    • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills is a must, with ability to conduct scenario planning
    • Good oral and written communication skills and able to engage at all levels
    • Proven ability to work with a diverse group.

    Territory Manager

    Key Responsibilities include:

    • Manage Retailer relationships and franchise excellence,
    • Deliver sales targets by driving profitable volume for revenue growth.

    • Own the development and successful implementation of a micro-marketing plan per site and adjust as necessary in order to grow market share at site level.
    • Working closely with the marketing support team to build a C-store network plan and execute against agreed milestones.

    Business Excellence

    • Monitor and drive the delivery of key performance indicators. Develop and implement appropriate measures to address issues that may compromise the delivery of business plans and KPI’s.
    • Drive compliance of HSSE standards and procedures at site level.
    • Play a key role in the selection, management and development of retailers.
    • Interact with retailers and business partners and provide expert knowledge and support to ensure operational excellence and application of operating and brand standards.
    • Work with all stakeholders to ensure that all initiatives are delivered as per plan for all sites in your network, and hold other accountable for their work.
    • Responsible for the ultimate and successful delivery of KPI’s including Safety, Financial, and Operational targets, including Customer First Scores, Customer Satisfaction and Image Stewardship
    • Implements and monitors Corporate OE safety standards and programs across the Retail Network (staff and customers).
    • Responsible for ensuring 100% compliance with the OE/HES Corporate standards and incorporates into daily execution guidelines.

    People Management

    • Provide guidance to Retail site owners nurturing and developing a culture of operational excellence and teamwork to ensure targets are met and exceeded.
    • Collaborate and maintain healthy relationships with key stakeholders to ensure successful support and delivery of business priorities.
    • Execute on the Transformation plan for Retail.

    Professional Qualification and Certifications:

    • Post Graduate qualification in Sales & Marketing, Commercial, business or related field.

    Work Experience:

    • At least 5 years of Retail Sales & Operations experience preferably in the petroleum industry, with proven track record of business turnaround through driving own initiatives.
    • Proven track record of increasing sales and revenue through developed sales strategies
    • Field sales experience is preferred.

    Knowledge and skills:

    • Knowledge of both fuel and non-fuel retailing.
    • Retail detail and site excellence knowledge
    • Retailer and customer relationship management
    • Good franchise excellence and CR Understanding
    • Good understanding of Retail economics and the RAS model
    • Good selling and negotiations skills
