    Principal Technician

    Requirements:

    • A relevant National Diploma in Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineering Technician
    • Computer Literacy: MS Office
    • Code B/EB Driver’s license
    • Communication skills (i.e. speak, read and write) in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
    • Switching license up to 66 000 volts.
    • Trade certificate (qualified Electrician)
    • 8 years or more relevant experience post registration
    • 3 – 5 years’ switching experience

    Physical Requirements:

    • No fear of height or confined spaces
    • Must be prepared to work under extreme weather conditions (wind, lightning and storms) & dangerous situations (medium/high voltage switching)
    • Must make critical decisions under stressful situations
    • Must be able to walk, physically fit and in good health to carry out inspections on site.
    • Knowledge of Municipal Regulations, Electrical network, operations and Infrastructure.
    • Must not be sight/ hearing impaired or colour blind.
    • Must have good communication and negotiation skills.

    Key performance areas:

    • Administrative management, planning and controlling
    • Monitor quality supply according to National
    • Rationalization Specification
    • Testing and fault finding on distribution networks
    • Standby and overtime duties
    • Coordinate and control test functions in Metering Department
    • Manage metering functions (Specialist functions)
    • Management of staff

    Administrator: Indigent Support

    Requirements:

    • A Grade 12 Certificate.
    • NQF 5 Certificate with Accounting as Major
    • Computer skills – MS Word, MS Excel, MS – Access and general advanced computer skills.
    • Communication skills in two (2) of the three (3) official languages of the Western Cape.
    • Code B/EB drivers’ license.

    Requirements: 

    • At least a Post Graduate Degree or relevant qualification, registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) at NQF level 8 with a minimum of 120 credits in a field of Social Sciences / Public Administration / Law; or equivalent

    • A Post Graduate Degree or relevant qualification in the field of Building Sciences / Architect / Town and Regional Planning or Development Studies, or equivalent

    • Must have proven successful Professional Developmental / Town and Regional Planning experience

    • A high degree of aptitude for strategic/ operational planning and management, decision- making, leadership, innovation, n and motivation. 
    • An added advantage would be registration as Professional
    • Planner in accordance with the Planning Professions Act, 2002, Act 36 of 2000

    Requirements: 

    • At least a Post Graduate Degree or qualification in the fields of Accounting, Finance or Economics registered on the National
    • Qualifications Framework at a NQF level 8 with a minimum of 120 credits or chartered
    • Accountant (SA)  Minimum of 7 (seven) years at senior and middle management levels, of which at least 2 (two) years must be at senior management level Sound knowledge of and exposure to local government operations and municipal financial management
