    Rigger/Ropesman

     Job specification

    • Grade 10, 11, 12, or equivalent NQF qualifications
    • N2 Trade Theory
    • Recognized Rigger/Ropesman trade certificate.
    • A minimum of 15 to 20 years of underground rigger/ropesman experience is required, along with proven proficiency in working with winder, shaft, shaft slinging, rope capping, and splicing.
    • Demonstrate integrity and above-average interpersonal skills and abilities.
    • South African Driver’s license (Code 08-10) essential
    • South African Citizenship.
    • Clear Criminal Record.

     Responsibilities

    • Ensure the health and safety of yourself and your team members by applying relevant standards and procedures.

    • Schedule and conduct inspections following the Mine Health and Safety Act, applicable regulations, and company standards.

    • Accountable for the effective planning, scheduling, risk assessment, and safe execution of shaft and infrastructure examinations, maintenance of hoist ropes and attachments, etc.
    • Conduct scheduled and ad hoc inspections, repairs, and control of all lifting equipment, lifting tackle, etc., and maintain accurate records of inventory and repairs as prescribed by applicable regulations and mine standards.

    TMM Fitter

    Job specification: 

    • Matric certificate, N2 or equivalent qualification
    • Trade test in Diesel Mechanic/ Earth Moving Mechanic, Diesel Fitter, Hydraulic Fitter, Millwright or Fitter preferably section 13 from a recognised institution
    • Minimum 5 years proven post qualification experience within a trackless mobile machinery
    • In depth practical knowledge with original equipment manufacturer qualifications of Sandvik, Caterpillar, Fermel, Manitou, Back/Front Loader, Dozers and Atlas Copco mobile machinery are essential and not negotiable
    • Sound knowledge of hydraulic fault-finding hydraulic systems, hydraulic cylinders, drifters, bolters, torque convertors, transmissions, and final drives
    • Sound knowledge of Caterpillar, Mercedes Benz Deutz, Cummins, Detroit, Perkins and Toyota engines inclusive of engine protection systems
    • Good knowledge of electro/hydraulic operated components and fault-finding making use of computerized diagnostic systems
    • Independent judgment, initiative and interpersonal communication and technical skills are essential and required
    • Sound knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems associated with this position Afrigle, Saps or JD Edwards
    • Demonstrate in depth knowledge of TMM Equipment Mechanical policies, procedures and practices

    • Work a rotation and circle of shifts
    • Timeous and effective maintenance and repairs to all TMM Equipment and accessories
    • Ability to make rough sketches, pre-planning and estimate the cost and report back to supervisor(s)
    • Troubleshooting and detailed fault analysis
    • Ensure spares availability to minimize standing time and optimize availability of TMM Equipment to ensure sustained production
    • Perform preventive maintenance and ensure that all TMM Equipment/ Machinery fire suppression, alarms and electrical emergency systems are always operational
    • Manage and maintain in area of responsibility in accordance with prescribed standards and practices

    TMM Engineering Supervisor

    Job specification

    • Matric certificate / N2, or equivalent NQF 4 qualification
    • Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages
    • Mechanical or Electrical Trade Certificate as recognised by the MQA
    • Maintenance Supervisor Certificate / TMM Foreman Certificate
    • Minimum knowledge of 5 years’ experience as an Artisan (inclusive of excellent safety and production results)
    • Minimum 5 years of experience on Drill Rig and Roof Bolter

    • Implement and monitor maintenance of equipment to the required maintenance strategies

    Junior Mine Planner

     Job specification

    • Matric certificate (with math and science)
    • Diploma in Mining Engineering or related qualification
    • 2–3 years’ experience in mine planning (graduate/junior level)
    • Exposure to surface and/or underground mining operations (advantageous)
    • Basic understanding of mine planning principles and production processes
    • Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g. MineRP CAD and Microstation)
    • Computer literacy (Advanced MS Excel)
    • Proficient in English and any other of 11 official languages
    • South African driver’s license

    • Medically fit for work in a mining environment

     Responsibilities

    • Assist in the preparation, updating, and maintenance of short-, medium-, and long-term mine production plans, including daily, weekly, and monthly schedules.
    • Develop short-term mine schedules, layouts, and sequencing to support safe and efficient operational execution.
    • Conduct basic mine design work, including pits, stopes, panels, benches, haul roads, and development layouts using approved mine planning software (e.g. MineRP CAD, Microstation).
    • Support drill-and-blast design, material movement planning, and production execution activities.
    • Perform production data analysis to support forecasting, optimisation, reconciliation, and reporting against planned targets.
    • Assist with geological interpretation, resource and reserve reporting, and reconciliation under the guidance of senior mine planners.
    • Monitor compliance to mine plans and provide recommendations for improvement and corrective action.
    • Compile planning reports, drawings, maps, and presentations for management and operational stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with the Survey, Geology, Production, and Engineering departments to ensure alignment between planning and execution.
    • Ensure all mine planning activities are conducted in compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act, applicable codes of practice, environmental requirements, and internal mine standards.
    • Execute all work in accordance with prescribed standards, specifications, and best-practice guidelines.
    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing planning accuracy, operational efficiency, and cost optimisation.
