Sports planning
- Review the coaching timetable and plan own roster.
- manage communications to parents regarding relevant sports activities.
- Manage the process of indemnity and permission slips for all sporting events that are being coached.
- Provide input into recommendations for sport awards.
Coaching of sports and health and safety
- Coaching in own sporting discipline.
- Mentor learners in proper match etiquette and rules.
- Officiation at matches.
- Oversee sport activities from a health and safety perspective.
- Perform checks of equipment and fields prior to matches for any hazards.
- Select learners and assign to teams.
Physical education
- Teach PE classes in line with the CAPS document.
- Participate in talent identification and skills development.
- Run term assessments for the term as per the rubrics.
- Compile PE results for termly reports including personalized comments.
Sports events and tours
- Attend relevant tours, camps and sporting events.
- Assign teams on day of sporting events.
- Assign student helpers to duties on the day.
- Make visitors feel welcome.

- Coordinate return slips to confirm attendance of matches.
- Find substitutes and replacements.
