    Full-Time Lecturer - User Experience Design

    Job Purpose:

    • Lecturing and academic delivery to ensure students are guided and supported in their learning to achieve module outcomes. Contribute to research activities/outputs and teaching and learning (T&L) resource for the campus and provide subject matter expert (SME) input to the relevant programme manager. Track student progress and provide support for students.
    • Mark assessments within the stipulated timelines and provide constructive feedback to students.

    Preferred Education:
    ​​Ideal:

    • Honours Degree / Masters in Digital Design, Interaction Design, UX Design, Digital Media Design with specialisation in Interaction Design.

    Alternatively:

    • NQF 8 qualification in a design field or education with a first degree in BIS Multimedia, Digital Technologies, Digital Arts and at least 2 years industry experience as a digital, UX or Interaction Designer. A solid foundation in web design, and UX design is key. 

    Software Knowledge required:

    • Professional Portfolio to illustrate expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud Software (specifically Premiere Pro, Audition and After Effects as well as Photoshop and Illustrator)​. Coding and web design experience. Web and mobile front-end development skills, including Html5, CSS3, and Bootstrap required. Basic web coding languages such as Html5 and CSS3 needed.

    Work Experience

    • ​Lecturing experience essential.
    • At least 2 years industry experience as a digital, UX or Interaction Designer. A solid foundation in web design, and UX design is key. 


    Key Performance Areas:

    Lecturing:

    • Lecture programming modules across various modes of delivery where relevant.
    • Lesson preparation, delivery and all related teaching and assessment activities.
    • Arrange guest lecturers for every module delivered each semester to compliment the students learning experience
    • Marking of assessments and giving specific constructive feedback to students in subjects lectured according to IIE policy.
    • May be required to internally moderate assessments scripts that fall within their subject fields, where necessary across IIE sites of delivery.
    • Provide module feedback and participate in meetings to discuss programmes.

    Lecturer Development and Support:

    • Support function to T&L on campus and to The IIE.

    Student Development & Support:

    • Championing/leading and managing academic development and support for a specific programme and its students.

    Teaching And Learning Specialist - Fixed-Term Contract

    Overall Job Purpose:

    • Provide leadership in achieving excellence in Teaching and Learning (T & L) through the following: quality assurance of T & L; Lecturer development based on The IIE's T & L strategy with specific focus on: active learning; reflective practice; marking & feedback for learning and promoting intellectual integrity with lecturers.

    Qualification:

    • Bachelors Degree PLUS Postgraduate Diploma/ Bachelors Honours Degree in Education (PGCE or B.Ed).
    • Higher postgraduate qualification (Med; MA; Mphil; PhD) preferable.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years Teaching and Learning experience (preferably in teaching environment).
    • Must have experience in using technology to enhance learning and an understanding of the current regulatory framework and its impact on higher education and private colleges.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
     Quality Assurance of Teaching and Learning

    • Ensure compliance and quality enhancement in all teaching and learning processes and initiatives.

    Management and Development of Teaching Practice on Campus

    • Work to develop lecturer's teaching skills and reflective practice through a process of continuous conversation that includes the teaching portfolio, peer reviews, SETs and continuous development plan.
    • Implement training workshops for IC lecturer development (Specifically lecturers' reflective teaching practice and marking practice) based on Peer reviews; SETs and development plans.

    Teaching and Learning Culture on campus

    • Promotes a Teaching and Learning Culture on campus by building communities of best academic practice and drives uptake of contemporary developments in Teaching and Learning for the lecturers.
    • The successful incumbent is required to promote a culture of scholarship within their practice, discipline and campus/team and is also required to contribute towards The IIE’s Vega School achieving its annual research output targets.

    Teaching and Learning Resource

    • Collaborate with Programme Managers, Educational technologists; Permanent lecturers and National Teaching and Learning Manager, in planning, brainstorming and problem solving on Teaching and Learning matters.

    Lecturing

    • Lectures 1 module per semester (not exceeding 70 hours in total).

    Job Purpose: 

    Responsible for initiating, building and managing relationships with prospective students through every stage of the recruitment process (Lead, Appointments, Applications and Registrations) and report on individual sales activities per set targets.

    Database Administration:

    • Complete STASY workflow to ensure that automated communication triggers are maintained.
    • Keep updated records of interactions/ engagement with prospective students (telephone conversations / appointments / email enquiries / open days / events).
    • Keep accurate record of the conversions from application to registration using the registration report and STASY.

    Sales Administration:

    • Creation of student file containing the student’s relevant application documents (Student ID, latest results, application form, POP).
    • Capturing and reporting of all appointments into STASY and to MS Teams folder.
    • Processing of applications on STASY ensuring accurate capturing of all student information.
    • Request application confirmation letters.
    • Prepare sales figures and statistics as required
    • Follow up on payments for applications, pre-registrations, and registrations.
    • Request study visa letters / conditional registration letters where applicable timeously.

    • Attends to queries from students / parents either face-to-face, telephonically or on line, within an hour (during normal business hours, on weekdays), ensuring that prospective students have a positive service experience.
    • Receives, evaluates and processes applications from prospective students.
    • Establishes and fosters productive relationships with teachers, principals, corporates and other relevant partners.
    • Ensures registration procedures are followed.
    • Conducts interviews with prospective students and provides feedback of those interviews.

     Sales Administration:

    • Reconciles paid applications with registrations.
    • Liaises with Academic support to ensure acceptance letters have been disseminated. Tracking letters sent versus those pending.
    • All online website enquires and applications to be sent a follow up email/s and receive courtesy telephone call.
    • All tawk & WhatsApp prospects to receive the necessary documentation and follow up. Ensure adequate record keeping.
    • Ensuring student files are professional, up to date and contains on the respective student documentation, statement of results, ID, proof of payment, NBT paperwork and other documentation.

    Key Performance Areas

    • Ideal: Honours Degree / Masters in Digital Design, Multimedia Design, Digital Arts or Interaction Design and a layered portfolio demonstrating experience as a digital designer.
    • Alternatively: Honours Degree / Masters in Graphic Design, Information Design, or BIS Hons or Masters in Multimedia and a layered portfolio and CV demonstrating at least 3 years’ experience as a digital designer in a design studio or advertising agency.
    • Computer literacy essential, experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint required for academic administration and delivery. High proficiency of the Adobe Creative Suite are prerequisites.

    Minimum Experience Required: 

    • ​​At least 3 years industry experience, with a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to conceptualising and crafting for various kinds of brand communication, marketing and advertising.
    • A solid foundation in UI, UX and Interaction Design, 2D animation, motion graphics and video post-production is key. 
    • The candidate is required to have a layered portfolio demonstrating her/his ability to engage with complex design challenges and his/her experience and knowledge of the skills listed above.
