Job Description    

• Assist senior process controllers in operating the plant.
• Prepare the plant for startup
• Start up a process
• Monitor and maintain a process
• Shutdown a process
• Control and monitor plant and equipment within the scope of authority
• Take routine and non-routine field readings and diagnose faults affecting plant conditions.
• Clean and tidy up equipment and the work area
• Prepare plant for maintenance and reinstate after maintenance is complete
• Carry out authorized maintenance operations
• Draw and test samples for quality purposes
• Run off finished product into bulk tankers, drums, bags or other containers for shipment
• Receive and off-load raw materials from bulk tankers.
• Act as first line of defense in case of a fire and other emergencies
• Perform any other related tasks as may be required from time to time

Qualifications & Experience    

• Grade 12 with Mathematics & Science / NQF 4 Chemical Operations.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in chemical production environment
• Understanding of MSDS’s
• Computer literacy essential
• Knowledge of the plant process

Job Description    

• Assist the process controller to prepare the process/plant for start-up
• Monitor plant and equipment within the scope of authority
• Assist the process controller to shut down a process/plant
• Clean and tidy up equipment and the work area
• Perform routine inspections of plant equipment and site to make sure all equipment are running within the operating limits, and to report any signs of abnormal operation
• Complete shift logs and data sheets as may be required
• Measure, mix and dose chemicals and/or raw materials to the mixing/reactor vessels
• Draw samples for quality purposes
• Run off finished product into bulk road tankers, drums, flow-bins or other containers for shipment
• Act as first line of defense in case of a fire and other emergencies
• Receive and off-load raw materials from bulk tankers
• Perform any other related tasks as may be required from time to time
• Assist production superintendent as required

Qualifications & Experience    

• Grade 12 or NQF 2/3 with mathematics and science – required
• NQF 4 Plant Operation – advantageous
• Forklift license- advantageous
• Be fully aware of health, safety and environmental issues
• Computer literacy – MSWord, MS Excel, Lotus Notes
• Minimum six months in chemical production environment
