    HR Officer Operation

    Job Description:

    You will be fulfilling a Generalist role within the Human Resources structure and responsible for the maintenance of Human Resources' practices and systems within an Operational Area.

    Your role will:

    • Support the management control of the HR function.

    • Participate in improvement projects within the HR function.

    • Identify risks and threats to the HR process/functions proactively.

    • Prepare ad-hoc reports for HR management or other information customers.

    • Ensure that system technical data is accurately captured and secure.

    • Continuously liaise with the Employee Relations manager / co-coordinator on operational activities

    • Monitor the ER process regularly to ensure conformance to and understanding of standards and procedures by clients

    • Ensure co-operation and teamwork between team and stakeholders by delivering and efficient service

    • Hold disciplinary and grievance inquiries as prescribe by the policy and procedures.

    This role is in the Human Resources Department at a D1 level reporting to the HR Coordinator Operations.

    Qualifications:

    • NQF 5 Higher Certificate/Diploma in Human Resource Management/Employee Relations.

    • NQF 6 Advanced Certificate/National Diploma will be advantageous

    Experience: 

    • Minimum 3 years human resources and employee relations experience

    • Mining environment experience is advantageous

    • CCMA experience will be highly advantageous

    • Previous experience working with SAP is required

    • Experience working with ER Navigator will be highly advantageous.

    METALLURGIST - BASE METALS REFINERY AND MAGNETIC CONCENTRATOR PLANT SUPPORT

    Job Description:

    Purpose:

    This role will fully support the BMR & MCP ranging from pre-agreed assigned tasks to urgent priority-based tasks assigned by the Principal Support Role.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Supports the Principal BMR & MCP in maximizing the value of Extractive Metallurgy services to Anglo American at all times providing health and safety is not compromised.

    • Supports the provision of relevant technical information to T&S, business units and operations to assist in driving value.

    • Completes a baseload of detailed technical investigations aligned to the strategic intent of the business unit operation, both at site and in the laboratory environment aimed at delivering a specified value for the business unit.

    • The nature of these technical assignments will often take the form of investigations to optimize or understand a unit operation that is underperforming at the business unit.  Performance of the unit operation is defined under fixed criteria however the methodologies and procedures employed to understand the performance are flexible and at the discretion of the metallurgist such as: 

    • Specified laboratory procedures assigned to laboratory technicians to be performed or may be performed by the metallurgist in person or

    • The metallurgist may choose to self-solicit plant samples or request operating data and perform analysis utilizing number of tools ranging from excel to mass and energy balance simulation software.

    • Delivers accurate and relevant reports to support the identification of current and future value adding opportunities.

    • Supports effectiveness and continuous improvement of the productivity and value contribution within the assigned tasks

    • Supports the provision of relevant technical information to T&S to assist in driving value.

    • Other than the baseload task assignments, the metallurgist will remain on standby for ad hoc task assignment requests by the Principal BMR and MCP Support to mobilize and support the RBMR directly on site in urgent situations.

    • Ensures that SHEQ issues are considered in all activities.

    Qualifications:

    Essential:

    • MSc Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering with 3 years’ experience in processing or process development.

    OR:

    • PhD in Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering, relevant to PGM and/or base metal hydrometallurgy/Processing.

    OR:

    • BSc Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering with 3 years relevant experience at a precious metal or base metal refinery (Cu/Ni).

    Knowledge and Experience:

    • Experience/exposure to metallurgical operations through project work, research and development or operational exposure, over a period exceeding 3 years, would be considered essential

    • Prior knowledge of pressure and atmospheric leaching, solution purification and metal recovery/separation technologies as applied across a range of commodities would also be considered as advantageous.

    • Must have a Driver's License as you will be required to travel to our North-West site.

    Quality Assurance Advisor

    Job Description:

    The Quality Assurance Advisor: Document Management will be responsible for the overall coordination and management of document control in the Southern Africa Anglo American Laboratory network, including the AA sponsored Government, Universities, and other partnership labs.

    Key responsibilities include: 

    • Manage all document control activities related to providing required documentation as well as implementing and maintaining related document systems.

    • Ensure that the document management activities as achieved at the required quality levels and within the agreed timeframe.

    • Ensure that all current master documents (including but not limited to manuals, policies, SOPs, Test Methods, Work Instructions and Forms) are available and maintained as per SOP.

    • Guide and assist laboratories in documenting and closing of non-conformances and customer complaints.

    • Ensure that the document management system is audit ready. Support the Southern Africa Anglo American Laboratories in external audits. Participate and conduct internal audits as required and follow up on all internal audits.

    • Guide and ensure laboratories on their documentation and make recommendations to improve their processes.

    • Ensure that all laboratory staff are trained on the relevant QA documentation SOPs.

    • Adheres to professional conduct requirements in line with organizational policy and relevant professional body ethical standards.

    • Participate in risk assessments and ensure mitigations are efficacious, where needed.

    • Participate in achieving the quality objectives of the Anglo American Laboratories.

    Qualifications:

    • Relevant certificate, diploma or degree

    • Registration with HPCSA as a Biomedical Technologist is essential (The preferred HPCSA practice field is Clinical Pathology).

    Role-specific knowledge and experience:

    • Advanced knowledge of and experience in medical Quality Management Systems (QMS) related to medical laboratories

    • In-depth understanding of GLP and Laboratory audit experience

    • Experience in Quality Management
