    Mechanical Engineer – Building Services

    Bosch Projects: Mechanical Engineer – Building Services – Western Cape

    Bosch Projects, a member of the multi-disciplinary Bosch Holdings group of companies, founded in 1961, has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer. This position will be based in Cape Town and reports directly to the Regional Director.

    KEY  RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Provision of technical and management expertise and involvement throughout the project lifecycle, from inception, through feasibility into construction and commissioning;
    • Management and maintenance of Client relationships and co-ordination of project execution within scope, timeframe, safety, cost and to the Client’s satisfaction;
    • Effective management of sub-contractors as well as site staff;
    • Participation in engineering activities and interdisciplinary interfaces in close cooperation with the other discipline Engineers;
    • Ensuring that all work is undertaken in accordance with the Quality Management System.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD:

    • Have a BTech / BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering;
    • Have a minimum of six to ten years project management experience and sound knowledge of the industrial / building services industry, ;
    • Have experience in defining and understanding specific project scope and deliverables, and manage the submission of competitive proposals;
    • Be registered as a Professional Engineer/ Technologist with ECSA;
    • Possess a detailed understanding of engineering activities and project engineering workflows required for consulting, engineering services, and EPCM contracts;
    • Possess a broad understanding of the other design engineering disciplines, i.e. Structural/Elect
    • Be self-motivated, disciplined, ethical and confident;
    • Have experience in utilizing AutoCAD (3D preferable);
    • Have strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills;
    • Be prepared to travel within and outside RSA borders;
    • Have a valid driver’s license

    Senior Roads Engineer

    • Managing entire projects and project teams from inception to completion, including client interface;
    • Performing engineering functions efficiently in support of own projects and provide technical support to other projects.
    • Performing a contract administration role on major roads projects;
    • Mentoring and motivating project teams;
    • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships;
    • Taking responsibility for work acquisition and tendering for roads projects;
    • Ensuring compliance with Bosch Projects ISO 9001/2008 QMS System;
    • Ensuring that client standards are achieved and maintained

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD:

    • Have a BSc Civil Engineering / BEng Civil Engineering Civil Engineering qualification;
    • Be registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA (compulsory)
    • Hof which a minimum of 5 years must have been spent on roads projects;
    • Have experience in managing projects for major national, provincial and municipal roads clients in the Western Cape
    • Have technical and design competence in either road rehabilitation, surfacing design or geometrics;
    • Have experience in administering roads contracts as the Contract Engineer, and management of construction monitoring teams;
    • Have experience in construction monitoring of roads contracts as the “Engineer’s Representative”, and management of site teams and site laboratories;
    • Be able to assume design leadership role in new roads, road rehabilitation and / or road maintenance projects;
    • Be capable of functioning independently and as part of a project team;
    • Have the ability to grow client relationships and acquire roads related workload;
    • Have a valid passport and be prepared to travel and work within and outside RSA borders;
    • Have a valid driver’s license.

    Lead Civil Engineer/Technologist

    This position will assist in increasing the water and sanitation work the region undertakes. Typical projects include large bulk water supply projects, water and wastewater treatment, reservoirs, trunk sewers, pump stations and reticulation systems.

     KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Managing entire projects and project teams from project inception to completion, including Client interface.
    • Perform engineering design functions efficiently in support of the project planning and / or design team.
    • Mentoring and motivating project teams.
    • Developing and maintaining strong Client relationships.
    • Assisting with development and implementation of structured marketing plans.
    • Develop and agree budgets / targets with Divisional Manager / Regional Director.
    • Ensure compliance with Bosch Project’s ISO 9001/2015 QMS System.
    • Ensure that Quality Standards are achieved and maintained.
    • Managing project financial forecasts and reports.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD:

    • Have a BSc Civil Engineering / BEng Civil Engineering or a B.Tech (Water) qualification.
    • Be registered as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist with ECSA.
    • Have 10 – 15 years’ post qualification experience of which 5 years must have been spent independently implementing and managing projects from start to finish.
    • Have technical and design competence in the water and wastewater fields, with a good general knowledge of other engineering disciplines such as earthworks, roads, storm water and environmental legislation.
    • Have a good technical and design understanding of the Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical disciplines and how these interfaces with water and wastewater projects.
    • Have experience in contract administration and project management of FIDIC, NEC and GCC contracts.
    • Have proven leadership ability especially within an engineering consulting environment.
    • Be experienced in the use of modelling software (i.e. pipelines, hydraulic analysis, CAD, etc.).
    • Be capable of functioning independently and as part of a project team.
    • Be prepared to travel within and outside RSA borders.

    Key performance areas: 

    1. Leading and managing
    • Lead and manage a team.

    Key Requirements:

    Qualifications and experience:

    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Utilities Detection and / or Underground Location Services and/or similar environments
    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in leading and managing teams

    Knowledge and technical skills:

    • Project Management and Contract Administration
    • Computer skills using Microsoft Office software
    • Utility related software and equipment
    • Knowledge of the latest utility survey technology
