    Job Description
    Support the audit practice‘s System of Quality controls and the implementation and application of the auditing standards, methodology and applicable regulations through

    • Internal inspections / Engagement monitoring
    • Performing an independent risk focused review of engagement files under the continuous monitoring programme
    • Identifies non-compliance with methodology and auditing standards
    • Develop high-performing people and teams, leading and supporting them to make an impact that matters, and setting the direction to deliver exceptional client service
    • Uses experience, research and the ISA/Deloitte Methodology to develop solutions to issues identified on internal inspections and designs/suggests best practices to be used by practitioners in addressing identified deficiencies
    • Holding constructive discussions, challenging senior members of the engagement team on the appropriateness of and approach to identified audit risks
    • Liaising with engagement teams on resolution of any issues
    • Providing added value for engagement teams and the wider audit practice, supporting them in performing quality audits by collating insights and considering their wider communication throughout the firm
    • Ability to perform causal factor analysis to identify the root cause of a problem
    • Ability to challenge remediation plans
    • Support practitioners through external and regulatory inspections
    • Perform a variety of monitoring functions across the audit practice including independence, AWM monitoring

    Qualifications

    • Honours Accounting Degree
    • Registered CA(SA)
    • 7 years working experience: 5 years in a client facing role; 3 of these in a management role. 
    • Audit experience in the financial services industries -  primarily banking, insurance, retirement funds and medical schemes.

    ARAS: Insurance Finance Reporting Advisory - Senior Consultant

    Job Description
    Our areas of expertise span across the finance function with a financial reporting focus and include advising on: 

    • Through our “Accounting a Reporting Advisory” service offering we advise our clients on various Technical Accounting subjects including changes in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or other regulatory requirements, including digital enablement and change adoption. This varies from training to complex technical and transaction advisory, including training. 
    • Through our “Finance360” service offering we offer advisory on Close, Consolidate and Report improvement initiatives, including process, policy, automation and digitisation of the month-end financial close. This includes operational support at month end, year-end, or ‘on call’ accounting services. Further, we also provide advisory services on Internal Controls over Financial Reporting as required by various stock exchanges, including digital enablement. 
    • Our “Sustainability & Climate” service offering focuses on Integrated Reporting and report refresh initiatives to help our clients report value driven by their ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) activities, including climate change. 

    Main Purpose of Job

    Role of Senior Consultant/Assistant Manager in the Insurance Finance Reporting sub-division within the ARAS service line.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Supporting the development and implementation of the insurance strategy within ARAS. This strategy is targeted at Tier 1 and Tier 2 insurers and requires a level of competence in the areas of insurance finance accounting, IFRS 17, SAM and regulatory reporting.
    • Delivering on the following service offerings to clients within the competencies listed above, with a specific focus on Insurance Finance Reporting systems and processes:
    • Finance Remediation to provide assistance to finance functions struggling to meet deadlines, produce accurate results or embed controls. Capabilities include:
    • Review and mapping of finance close process
    • Review and gapping of AFS process
    • Finance workshop facilitation
    • Deployment of tactical solutions
    • Automation and efficiency
    • Process mapping and control design
    • Audit readiness support
    • Disclosure benchmarking
    • Agentic AI
    • Finance Transformation and Modernisation with a focus on the optimal Target Operating model.
    • Technical accounting opinions and advice;
    • Development of financial reporting templates, financial statements and general ledger configurations;
    • Assisting with Consolidations and group reporting requirements;
    • Development of stakeholder communication;
    • Secondments to clients to support their IFRS 17, regulatory reporting and/or SAM processes;
    • IFRS 17 implementation and financial reporting transformation projects, supported by other relevant business units, especially Actuarial;
    • Developing expertise in other International Financial Reporting Standards that impact insurers, including IFRS 18;
    • Actively supporting in identifying sales opportunities in the insurance market and contributing to the preparation of proposals/tenders and presentations for these clients;
    • Identifying innovative solutions on projects / engagements to enhance / renew service offerings to client.
    • Preparing and delivering of training material to internal and external stakeholders;
    • Contributing to thought leadership and sharing of knowledge and expertise with clients, colleagues and teams.
    • Managing client engagements and maintaining oversight of all engagements / projects within sphere of responsibility;
    • Acting as a coach/mentor in developing team members and counselees on an ongoing basis.

    Qualifications
    Qualifications / Experience required

    • Qualified CA’s from a Big 4 Professional services firm or currently be working at an Insurer.
    • Must have prior Insurance Industry experience and be interested in the Insurance Finance Reporting Process.
    • Must have current technical accounting experience
    • Must be willing to invest time to skill up in the Insurance sector to be able to run engagements once training has been provided
    • Prior involvement in IFRS 17 implementations or Insurance Audits would be advantageous.

    Consultant – Videographer

    Job Description

    • To support the Senior Videographer on executing innovative videos and photographs capturing events and campaigns which differentiate Deloitte in the market.

    Your day-to-day activities will include (but not limited to):

    • Professional photography of Deloitte staff and events
    • Filming and editing of video and podcasts (both new and existing) into a variety of full and/or short-form products like: video teasers, TV clips, engagement videos, corporate videos, client videos etc.
    • Capability to animate and create motion graphics.
    • Creative editing using relationship between visual and audio to create emotion, ability to craft and tell a story, ensuring the correct footage has been sourced and received, follow proper procedures in terms of purchasing stock footage
    • Recording of audio clips and pulling the audio from video footage - ensuring high quality audio files
    • Assembling recorded raw material - including camera footage, voice overs and other audio, graphics and special effects - into the appropriate finished product that is suitable for the different platforms selected/briefed in.
    • Creating rough cuts according to brief and script and finishing with grades and effective application of graphics, ensuring correct formats are adhered to
    • Preparing, editing, converting and presenting all materials in the formats required.
    • Support the strategic vision of the firm, by supporting BMCI leadership.
    • Support a variety of communications and marketing needs both internally and externally.
    • To support line manager in delivery of services to internal stakeholders on client facing projects which are relevant to area of expertise with minimum supervision.

    Job Description
    To provide audit technical support and focused interventions to the public audit practice in Deloitte Africa.

    • Conduct formal and informal consultations with engagement teams to support high quality audits.
    • Develop and lead audit learning interventions.
