    Contracts Administrator (Junior QS)

    • Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Contracts Administrator (Junior Quantity Surveyor) to join our growing Project Services team in Cape Town, South Africa. 

    The tasks you'll perform

    • Assisting in the preparation, and management of contracts and contractual documents.
    • Sound knowledge and practical experience with NEC and FIDIC standard forms of contracts. 
    • Assist in the preparation of accurate cost estimates, budgets, for construction projects 
    • Ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions 
    • Maintaining accurate and organized contract records and documentation 
    • Preparing and issuing progress reports and payment certificates. 
    • Assisting in handling contract variations, extensions, and claims. 
    • Assisting in the valuation of completed work for interim and final payments. 
    • Supports the preparation of tender documentation, adjudication processes, and bid evaluations. 
    • Reviewing and validating contractor and subcontractor invoices and claims. 
    • Ensures all contractual and commercial activities are conducted ethically and in ine with company values and industry best practices.  
    • Assists in the development and implementation of procedures and standards related to contract administration and commercial management. 

    The expertise you'll bring

    • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying (minimum) or related. 
    • 3-5 years proven contracts administration experience in construction/mining. 
    • South African Citizen or Permanent Resident.
    • Cape Town based.
    • Knowledge of NEC and FIDIC contract forms. 
    • Preparation and management of contracts, budgets, cost estimates, and payment certificates.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). 
    • Ability to manage contract documentation, including variations, site instructions, and claims. 
    • Understanding of tendering and contract law practices.
    • Experience validating invoices and handling contract claims and extensions.

    Senior Civil Engineer

    • Lycopodium Africa is currently recruiting for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing Engineering team in Cape Town. 
    • Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of accurate, professional and compliant design deliverables using company approved systems and procedures whilst building and maintaining strong relationships with all colleagues and clients.  

    The tasks you'll perform

    • Deliver accurate civil designs for earthworks, roads, buried services and stormwater systems
    • Survey data interpretation and use
    • Perform accurate engineering design and calculations.
    • Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications and scopes.
    • Identify scope variations and prepare relevant documentation accordingly.
    • Interdisciplinary co-ordination of technical aspects of the design.
    • Manage design and drafting resources to achieve agreed deliverable dates and man-hour budgets
    • Develop technical documentation including scopes of work and specifications using relevant industry standards and guidelines.
    • Provide accurate material take-offs as and when required.
    • Assist with the delivery of engineering documentation in relation to scope, quantities, cost and schedule. 
    • Register and file all relevant engineering documentation in accordance to the Company approved procedures. 

    Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

    • University Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution
    • 7+ years' postgraduate experience in a similar position.
    • Registered ECSA Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist
    • South African citizen or Permanent Resident
    • Cape Town based
    • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with colleagues across all business units.
    • Driven and determined to achieve objectives through continued professional development.

    Senior Site Planner

    • Lycopodium Africa seeking a highly experienced Senior Site Planner to join our Project team in East Africa, The Senior Site Planner will be responsible for the accurate, effective, and timely control of Project costs and accounting functions to produce deliverable in line with Client’s and Project’s standards.

    The tasks you'll perform

    • Develop, implement, and maintain project schedules, including baseline and updates for major milestones.
    • Track progress through schedule updates, resource monitoring, and verification of sub-contractor work.
    • Assist in preparation and assessment of delay claims and schedule impacts of project changes.
    • Generate dashboards, progress reports, and S-curves to communicate performance to management and clients.
    • Monitor critical paths, identify slippages, and recommend corrective actions.
    • Lead planning team members to support construction activities and project delivery.
    • Coordinate inputs from engineering, procurement, contracts, and construction teams for accurate schedules and forecasts.
    • Support project cost control, re-forecasting, and performance monitoring to ensure deadlines and budgets are met.
    • Implement and maintain project control procedures, including risk management and reporting.

    The expertise you'll bring:

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
    • 8+ years of industry related experience (i.e. mining and minerals, process & energy, EPC/EPCM, or heavy industry)
    • A strong background in scheduling, planning and cost control for construction projects.
    • Previous project controls experience within an EPCM company.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Site Contracts Manager

    • Lycopodium Africa is seeking a highly experienced Site Contracts Manager with a strong EPCM project background to join our dynamic, growing team in East Africa
    • Reporting to the Project Manager, the Contracts Manager is responsible for effectively managing the quality of output of the Contracts team to ensure that it is high standard in line with Company, Client, regulatory and contractual requirements. This is a key leadership role for someone with a proven record managing complex site-based projects.

    The tasks you'll perform

    • Develop the various work procedures, practices, and plans for the management of contracts and ensure that deliverables are met to a high-level of accuracy.
    • Ensure all dealings with Client, Vendors and other external stakeholders are professional and in line with ethos of the business.
    • Manage all members of the Contracts team in compliance with applicable project specific requirements and current industry work codes and standards to ensure effective delivery of contracts.
    • Develop contract management plans, schedules and budgets for each contract, and ensure that contracts are delivered in accordance with these controls.
    • Develop and maintain appropriate contract terms and conditions and contract structures (in compliance with client requirements and standards) to suit each specific scope of work.
    • Expedite contract deliverables.
    • Maintain all relevant registers which includes contract, back charges to contractor, site instruction, potential and actual contractor variations, and required insurances. 
    • Regular communication with the relevant Manager and provide weekly reports, updates and feedback. 

    The expertise you’ll bring:

    • Tertiary Education Qualification, bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
    • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in contracts within minerals and or related industries. 
    • Proven experience in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management projects.
    • Strong record of managing complex site-based construction projects, preferably in mineral processing plantsor similar heavy engineering environments.
    • Extremely well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
    • Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong knowledge of contract law and contract document requirements. 
    • Broad multidisciplinary base knowledge in mineral processing plant / infrastructure construction.
    • Strong background, training and awareness of statutory and industry standards in OHSE, IR and HR.
