CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
In the case of an Associate Professor:
- In addition to academic qualifications, the candidate should have extensive relevant experience (4 to 7 years) in facilitating learning and teaching in higher education. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Contribute to learning and teaching activities for Comprehensive Primary Health Care, Public Health, Communication skills and Clinical skills in the Medical School Program, inclusive of campus as well as community settings.
- Provide sound knowledge of the theory and application of clinical practice in relevant disciplines in the Medical School program.
- To assess students, including formative and summative assessment.
- To provide timeous academic and related support to students.
- To contribute to the effective delivery of learning and teaching activities in the Clinical Skills Laboratory.
- To be involved in research activities of the Medical School of the Faculty of Health Sciences
Academic
- Undergraduate qualification in Nursing Science
- Master’s degree in nursing science or Master’s degree in Public Health.
Registration
- Registration as a Nurse (PHC, General, Community, Psychiatric or and Midwife) with the South African Nursing Council.
- Registration as a Nurse Educator with the South African Nursing Council.
Teaching experience
- Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience in a Higher Education or clinical setting
- Clinical work experience
- Minimum of two (2) years’ clinical work experience
