    Plant Assistant

    PURPOSE

    • The purpose of this role is to perform plant related field and test work, make process adjustments in the field and conduct plant walkdowns, inspections and routines to identify any safety hazards and faulty equipment

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Risk Management

    • Be pro-active in hazard identification

    Plant Operation

    • Ensures the water plant production is maximised and operating within the selected process design parameters.
    • Makes adjustments in the field as directed by the Process Controller and/or Plant supervisor.
    • Conducts plant walkdowns, inspections and routines to identify any safety hazards and faulty equipment and process conditions.
    • Checks stock levels of chemicals and tops up chemicals when directed
    • Performs manual dosing of chemicals where required.
    • Takes representative samples, performs basic laboratory analysis and reports results.
    • Carries out daily inspection of all equipment and reports any defects.
    • Starts and stops equipment /opens and closes valves in the field as directed by the Process Controller/ Control Room Operator.
    • Performs plant standby, running and isolation procedures.
    • Checks on and report on feed dam, brine pond, sludge pond and storage tank levels

    Record Keeping

    • Completes all shift logs with the appropriate plant data as per frequencies and schedule

    Sampling

    • Takes routine plant samples in accordance with the specified procedure and as per the required frequencies.

    Sample Analysis

    • Follows the required analytical methods as per procedures.
    • Documents all results on shift logs and reports any out of specification results to the Process Controller/Control Room Operator.

    Maintenance

    • Reports all equipment and plant defects as soon as possible

    Reporting

    • Reports any out of normal operating conditions

    Safety, Health and Environment

    • Ensures all client and company policies and procedures are always adhered to.
    • Ensures all work performed is covered by suitable risk assessments
    • Submits regular safety event reports

    Housekeeping

    • Ensures that good housekeeping practices on the plant are always maintained at a high level. A place for everything and everything in its place.
    • Cleans all plant and process spillages as per procedure.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Matric (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification registered at NQF Level 4, including relevant NATED courses (e.g., N3 Certificate)
    • Maths and Science will be an advantage
    • Driver’s License for manual vehicle an added advantage

    EXPERIENCE

    • Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience of operating on water or wastewater treatment plants or similar. Knowledge of workplace safety and procedures
    • Minimum one (1) year SCADA system knowledge.
    • The candidate must be able to obtain a Certificate of Fitness (Red Ticket).

    Maintenance Assistant

    • DRA Water is looking for qualified local individuals for their project based on Tweefontein Water Reclamation Plant, Mpumalanga. This position is based on a Project Based Fixed Term Contract.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Health, Safety and Legal Responsibilities

    • Ensure compliance with Company and Client Health and Safety procedures and requirements
    • Identify hazards and risks while performing daily tasks and employ adequate control measures to ensure all work is performed safely. All work performed needs to have an associated continuous risk assessment.
    • Comply with legislative and operational requirements
    • Adhere to the Company and Client environmental management program and all policies and procedures.

    Functional Role

    • Assists with dismantling and re-assembling equipment as per site requirements.
    • Assists with installations and breakdowns of equipment where services are required under instruction from the Artisan or Maintenance supervisor
    • Performs general housekeeping duties in the workshop and clean-up after maintenance activities
    • Assist in regular lubrication schedules as per MMP system requirements
    • Performs working at heights and confined space work when required.
    • Plant walk-downs and inspections
    • Report on all maintenance and safety risks immediately
    • Operate the Mobile Plant Equipment to assist with vehicle offloading and equipment replacements.

    Quality and Quantity outputs are achieved

    • Output achieved within given guidelines
    • Knowledge and experience to correctly apply maintenance methods e.g. standards pertaining to greasing etc.
    • Reduce rework
    • Improve the efficiency of the Artisan through support and anticipating the next activity
    • > 98% compliance with schedules and routines

    Financial

    • Plant walk-downs and inspections to report failures and issues before equipment fails
    • Regular plant cleaning to prevent equipment failure

    Minimum Requirements

    • Matric (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification registered at NQF Level 4, including relevant NATED courses (e.g., N3 Certificate)
    • Maths and Science will be an advantage
    • Valid Driver’s License preferably code “B”

    EXPERIENCE

    • At least 3 years demonstrated experience and knowledge within the industry working with Hand tools as a Maintenance Assistant
    • English language proficiency
    • Knowledge of workplace safety and procedures

    General Engineering Superintendent (G.E.S)

    Description

    • The purpose of this position is to coordinate maintenance for an engineering stream according to operational requirements and equipment/assets technical specifications and standards

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Set engineering targets according to production and engineering requirements
    • Integrate and co-ordinate engineering and technical maintenance plans
    • Deploy engineering teams to ensure repair and maintenance to maximize engineering running hours
    • Investigate and diagnose problems and breakdowns to determine resource requirements and order spares according to Company procedures
    • Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations and analyse breakdowns
    • Over-inspect subordinates in their daily activities to ensure that maintenance is done according to organisational standards and requirements
    • Continuously analyse equipment efficiencies to recommend or implement improvements and changes to maximise running hours
    • Communicate equipment information and changes to internal stakeholders to minimise production delays
    • Determine work schedules in conjunction with other engineering / process teams to ensure availability and optimal utilisation of equipment to the relevant sections and consult with production teams on maintenance activities that affect production
    • Ensure availability during standby duties according to schedule
    • Perform administrative duties to ensure record accuracy and availability, budget compliance and spares availability
    • Comply with established communication channels and enhance when require

    Qualification Requirements

    • Matric (Grade12) or equivalent qualification registered at NQF Level 4 , including relevant NATED qualifications such a the N3 Certificate
    • N6 National Diploma in Engineering  
    • Valid Section 13 / Section 26 (D) Trade Test Certificate 
    • GCC Factories – advantageous

    Experience and Skills Requirements

    • Minimum 8 years’ experience as an Engineering Supervisor  
    • English language proficiency
    • Time management skills  
    • Internal Employee Relations training 
    • Supervisory management training  
    • Finance for non-financial managers training  
    • Computer literate in MS Office  
    • Relevant planned maintenance system training

    Engineering Artisan – Millwright (Shift)

    Description 

    • The purpose of this position is to diagnose and maintain machinery and equipment according to technical specification and sound engineering practice.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Investigate, diagnose and perform trade related maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery according to maintenance requirements, standards and specifications
    • Perform daily inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, operational and Company standards, and to report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Supervisor
    • Develop, modify, construct and install all types of trade related equipment required for the safe operation of all engineering equipment
    • Ensure that all installations and equipment are safe and in good working order after task completion
    • Continuously monitor equipment failure and efficiency to improve trade specific equipment and systems
    • Consult with production teams on maintenance activities that affect production
    • Support the achievement of engineering availability and production performance levels
    • Ensure that maintenance related information is recorded and reported to the relevant planning office to support the maintenance of the planned/asset maintenance system
    • Supervise a section in the production area to ensure production targets are achieved according to the production plan

    Qualification Requirements

    • Matric (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification registered at NQF Level 4, including relevant NATED courses (e.g., N3 Certificate)
    • Valid section 13 Trade Test / Section 26(D) Certificate required
    • Valid driver’s license code B, EB or C1
    • Own transport to attend to call outs

    Experience and Skills Requirements

    • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as a qualified Millwright
    • Must be willing work shifts
    • Must have knowledge of instrumentation equipment and VSD experience
    • Must have experience in pump maintenance and repairs
    • Must be able to do alignment have knowledge in changing bearings
    • Operating of Huckbolting and thread cutting machines will be an added advantage
    • Knowledge of maintaining MV motors will be an added advantage
    • Medium voltage competency skills (certificated) will be an added advantage
    • Not colour blind
    • Must be able to work in confined space and at heights
    • Must be familiar with the risk assessment procedures
    • English language proficiency
    • Time management skills
