    Plant Operator

    ROLE IMPACT

    • Omnia Agriculture is looking for a Plant Operator to support the safe production, loading, and offloading of fertiliser products and raw materials. The role requires a hands-on individual with chemical production experience, strong safety awareness, and the ability to perform administrative and computer-related tasks.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensure full compliance with SHEQ, safety, environmental and site security requirements.
    • Operate plant equipment to produce and load liquid fertiliser.
    • Offload raw materials and safely handle N-Gas.
    • Perform in-process quality checks and follow testing procedures.
    • Operate and monitor production-related computer systems.
    • Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
    • Maintain housekeeping standards within the plant.
    • Assist with equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance activities.
    • Participate in off-season maintenance projects.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Qualifications

    • Matric with Mathematics and Science
    • NQF 4 or Chemical Operations qualification (advantageous)

    Experience

    • 2–3 years' experience in a chemical production environment
    • Computer literacy

    Diesel Mechanic

    • The primary duties of a Diesel Mechanic include performing diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles to find faults, analyzing diagnostic test results and repairing or replacing engine, steering, transmission, braking or lighting system components.

    What You Will Be Responsible For:

    Productivity output

    • Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles
    • Ensure correct measurement of products are used to avoid production waste

    Inventory handling

    • Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist
    • Maintaining a parts inventory

    Mechanical ability

    • Running diagnostic tests on vehicles.
    • Analyzing diagnostic test results.
    • Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems.
    • Checking vehicle lighting systems
    • Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks

    Adherence to sound SHERQ principles

    • Wear the correct PPE
    • Adhere to good housekeeping principles
    • Ensure all SHERQ requirements are met

    What You Will Bring:

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12
    • Code 10 Driver's licence
    • Diesel Mechanic Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal)

    Experience:

    • 3 year's demonstrated experience as a Diesel Mechanic (Truck and LDV).
    • 3 years demonstrated knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
    • Proven working experience in an Explosives environment.

    Maintenance Foreman

    • The purpose of this position is to ensure plant equipment is maintained in a safe and legal standard according to the regulations framed under the OHSACT and other legal requirements. To manage breakdowns in the plant to ensure all repairs are completed in a timely manner with limited production impact. The position will be based at BME Losberg but also accountable for 2 sites based at Rustenburg and Delmas. 

    What You Will Be Responsible For:

    • Planning and scheduling daily and weekly maintenance activities.
    • Supervise Maintenance Artisans.
    • Developing, implementing, and monitoring preventive maintenance programs for Electrical & Mechanical systems.
    • Manage internal maintenance projects and control maintenance cost, equipment and spares inventory.
    • Monthly reporting on KPIs.
    • Ensuring compliance to all legal safety procedures and processes as prescribed to minimize risks.
    • Fulfil internal and external audits on site.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal plant performance.
    • Liaise and communicate with suppliers and other service providers.
    • Work as part of the Management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimise results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements delivery in line with Company and Maintenance requirements.
    • Take ownership of all policies, guidelines and associated documents from Health & Safety and ensure effective implementation and management thereof.
    • Create and implement the best practice maintenance management vision, strategy, policies, procedures, and processes.
    • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department in conjunction with the OHS department
    • Audit and ensure compliance of any of the systems that falls under your responsibility.

    What You Will Bring:

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12
    • Trade tested in Electrical / Mechanical.
    • Advanced Diploma / B Tech Electro – Mechanical.
    • PLC Siemens certification and systems integration will be advantageous.

    Experience:

    • 5 years demonstrated experience as a maintenance Foreman.
    • 3 years demonstrated maintenance experience in a production / explosive's environment

    Key Competencies:

    • Extensive knowledge in the maintenance of centrifugal pumps and positive displacement pumps (Progressive cavity, gear pumps) would be an advantage.
    • Electrical ability
    • Trouble shooting (Fault finding)
    • Extensive knowledge in the maintenance of VFD's general plant switchgear, process machinery including pumps, compressors and boilers.
    • Knowledge of PLC's and field instrumentation
    • Knowledge of the SANS 10142 electrical regulations
    • Proficiency in MS office
    • Knowledge of ERP systems

    Chemist (R&D)

    • To supervise the team of logistics coordinators, ensuring efficiency in the processes with internal and external clients/stakeholders, to order materials from suppliers, to effectively process orders by entering data on systems, prepare documentation for customs/transporters in order to ensure that exports are made efficiently. To ensure stock control of warehouses used for international transactions.

    WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

    Responsible for research projects

    • Effective planning of research projects.
    • Execution of research projects
    • Making sure that data is accurately recorded in accordance with guidelines

    Conduct chemical analyses

    • Perform daily routine tests and product development tests
    • Reporting and presenting results

    Technical support to manufacturing plants.

    • Make recommendations to R & D Manager, as well as plant and production management.

    Adherence to SHERQ principles

    Assistant Innovex Maker

    • The person will be responsible for assisting the Innovex Maker to operate the HEF/INNOVEX processing plant.

    WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

    • Prepare product required for Emulsion production
    • Load Emulsions in tanker.
    • Manufacture EGA at Losberg Innovex plant.

    Assistant (IS Test Lab)

    • This position will assist with the daily pre-release QC sampling and confirmation testing of detonators. The position will also on an ad hoc basis assist with detonator destruction, testing of emulsion explosives and other laboratory test work as assigned.

    WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

    • To assist in the daily pre-release QC sampling and
    • Confirmation testing of detonators and detonator assemblies' administration of test data
    • Video capturing and analyses
