    Agnostic Backend Engineer – Java / C# / PYTHON

    About the Job

    Our client is recruiting 2 Agnostic Software Engineers to deliver product enhancements directly to the business within Research, Trade Management, Client Technology, and Data Technology.

    The roles will best suit full-stack Software Engineers who may have experience across different industries; although previous Financial Services or Asset Management will be an advantage.

    Our client is responsible for the delivery of systems and applications to enable the business to perform the full life cycle of investments from Portfolio Management, Trading, Risk, Performance, Research and Client Reporting all enabled via our core Data-as-a-Service strategy and dynamic Infrastructure.

    We make the decision to develop in-house where it adds most value to the business, but also blend that with vendor products where there is already a market leading product available.

    There is a preference for the candidate to have a range of data-related skills from design to data surfacing techniques.

    Key Responsibilities

    •  Developing to house standards; ensuring code is clean, functional and simple to support.
    •  Requirement gathering, communicating with stakeholders, and documenting findings in the form of user stories.
    •  Partnering with engineering leads and product owners to deliver value-adding functionality sprint by sprint.
    •  Working in a quick-to-market proof-of-concept manner to engage stakeholders and focus on high-quality deliverables.
    •  Utilising Test Driven Development to maintain high-quality products.
    •  Working in a collaborative manner across teams.
    •  Embracing DevOps techniques.

    Risk & Compliance Responsibilities

    •  Adhering to the Code of Ethics and related policies, including personal account dealing, gifts, market abuse, etc.
    •  Ensuring Compliance training, declarations, and relevant forms are completed on a timely basis.
    •  Ensuring that firm and client data and property, including IT data, are properly protected.
    •  Reporting any possible and actual breaches, errors, complaints or conduct issues.
    •  Reporting any suspicion that a client, investor, or employee may be involved in money laundering, fraud or other crime such as market abuse.
    • Candidate Requirements – Technical Knowledge and Experience:
    •  A BSc or other relevant degree
    •  Minimum of 5 years working with object-orientated programming languages such as C#, Java and /or Python.
    •  Preference for experience in Financial Services / Asset Management
    •  Experience working with REST APIs and GraphQL.
    •  Experience implementing software within an automated test-driven development environment.
    •  SQL is essential – NoSQL, Data Lake, EDM advantageous.
    •  Source control via Git essential.
    •  UI/UX skills would be a useful addition, though not essential for data-focused roles.
    •  Knowledge of cloud technologies like AWS and Azure desirable.
    •  Experiencing building data integration solutions using different on-premise and cloud-based technologies (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Functions).

    Mobile Developer

    Purpose of the Position:

    •  To create and maintain mobile apps that are compelling and also which enables our users to consume our world-class content through latest available mobile technologies.

    Key Performance Objectives Tasks

    Development

    •  Review designs created by designers; ask any necessary clarifying questions before starting on work.
    •  Write code to implement those visual elements into various mobile applications.
    •  Create prototypes, mockups, and staging apps for review and feedback
    •  Support the entire application lifecycle (concept, design, test, release and support)
    •  Produce fully functional mobile applications writing clean code
    •  Gather specific requirements and suggest solutions
    •  Write unit and UI tests to identify malfunctions
    •  Troubleshoot and debug to optimize performance
    •  Liaise with Product development team to plan new features
    •  Ensure new and legacy applications meet quality standards
    •  Research and suggest new mobile products, applications and protocols
    •  Stay up-to-date with new technology trends
    •  Effectively communicate with your peers on all levels
    •  Give detailed explanations and argue the pros and cons of your choices

    Qualifications

    •  A Degree in IT or Computer Science

    Experience Required

    •  You have a University Degree in Computer Studies or suitable equivalent
    •  You have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in mobile app development
    •  You have exceptional knowledge of Swift (iOS), Java (Android), JSON, SOAP and REST Web Services

     Knowledge of MVC architecture

    •  Knowledge of Reactive Programming (ReactiveX or Rx) would be a great advantage.
    •  Demonstrable portfolio of released applications on the Apple App Store or the Android Play Store
    •  Solid understanding of Agile methodologies. SCRUM experience would be advantageous.
    •  You also have an understanding of object oriented programming
    •  You have experience in development practices like test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous deployment
    •  Excellent analytical skills with a good problem-solving attitude
    •  Knowledge of Java backend development would be an advantage
    •  Eager to learn new technologies and excited by change

    Acquisition Marketing Manager

    Acquisition strategy:

    • Develop a test plan for acquisitions to optimize the strategy around maximising names in the appropriate credit risk distribution and reducing adspend cost. Ensure that the acquisition marketing cost at a channel, or campaign level, does not exceed the maximum permitted amount.
    • Work with merchandise to identify merchandise assets that can be used to maximise return on acquisition campaigns (response and conversion).
    • Manage the acquisition marketing channel leads to ensure that they are achieving their objectives in line with the overall acquisition marketing strategy.
    • Work closely with Data Science and CICA to identify data-driven profitable acquisition strategies.
    • Work closely with operations to drive acquisition across sales channels and provide necessary marketing support in order to achieve sufficient cost per name

    Targets

    • Achieve overall acquisition targets within constraints of legislation
    • Manage the flow of names into the list on a 24 month time horizon
    • Align the merchandise strategy, credit strategy with the business strategy for all relevant acquisition campaigns

    Acquisition campaigns

    • Strategically plan the flow of acquisition activities based on the list growth requirements and effectively plan for any imminent changes to legislation
    • Plan and agree on an optimal offer strategy for a rolling 12 months with merchandise and credit risk based on the ‘ from the preceding 12 months
    • Ensure that the’ business plan variables are credible from a forecast perspective and adjusted timeously as more actual materialise in the current financial year
    • Manage the spend in line with the quality of leads through to profitability to infer the correct investment strategies.
    • Ensure that costs are optimized across acquisitions activities and meet the efficiency targets for next year
    • Develop and document the test plan for the next 12 months acquisition activities

    Manage the adspend budget and efficiency

    • Ensure that the adspend cost per name for all acquisition activities is achieved
    • Ensure that the consolidated adspend forecasts are credible and in line with strategic objectives and actuals are updated timeously
    • Manage the adspend process to ensure efficiency gains are continuously achieved

    Effectively manage and develop acquisition analysts

    • Ensure team members have clear and tangible goals which are assessed bi-annually through the KPA performance management process
    • Provide effective leadership and training to team members in order to reduce turnover in the acquisitions area and achieve optimal efficiency within the team
    • Ensure that acquisition analysts work effectively with individuals across the business to gain knowledge on strategies, business processes to improve the overall profitability and customer service

    Qualifications

    • Business Science / BComm or Marketing Degree (with statistics and marketing)

    Experience & Skills

    • 3 to 5 years managerial experience
    • Previous experience in either a marketing or merchandise planning function would be a distinct advantage
    • MS Office proficient (Advance Excel skills)
