    Purpose of Job

    • To direct the development of a new approach to mechanical / electro-mechanical engineering, the contribution to development of project plans, and the coordination and execution of field engineering projects to meet the engineering wider strategy.

    Key Accountabilities

    Section Engineer

    Purpose of Job

    • Ensuring profitability by coordinating maintenance resources and personnel for the appointed area to ensure that production machines and equipment are available to sustain continuous production of coal and meet production targets at the lowest possible cost. This is to be executed within the principles of QCDSM. Carries a 2.13.3.1 legal appointment for the mine. The incumbent holds a Mining Government Certificate of Competence (GCC) and must apply the law utilising knowledge, experience and skill to interpret and the law and make correct decisions. To improve business objectives sustainably at sub assembly level, at machine level, at systems level and concept level, including machine, people, process and standards.

    Purpose of Job

    • To oversee Operators, Craftspersons and Controllers and supervise the use of machines and equipment.
    • To guarantee that safety and quality standards are met, in order to complete production in line with agreed scope, budget, and time parameters.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Safe Production Conduct daily, weekly and monthly maintenance to ensure that the departments (sections KPI's are met), repair breakdowns in a timely cost effective manner to ensure minimal impact on production.
    • Ensures that machines are overhauled on schedule.
    • Maintenance cost vs R/t in appointed area Maintenance budget actual vs. budget Availability of Equipment Downtime / shift / MTTF /MTTR (infrastructure and inspection equipment .
    • Adherence to Overhaul / maintenance program plan vs. actual Operational projects, ensures engineering compliance, develops and implements engineering Standard Operating Procedures (SOP in appointed area of responsibility).
    • Ensures adherence to Engineering principles and legislation.
    • Compliance to engineering governance bodies (standardization committees) SOP / COP implementation and adherence Implements small engineering projects within section monitors and gives feedback in terms of these projects % delivery against OE initiatives.
    • Carry out condition monitoring programs in appointed area of responsibility.
    • Compliance to Condition monitoring program schedules.
    • Failure trend analysis and root cause elimination Execution of Predictive Maintenance recommendations (backlog) Safe Production.
    • Support section and personally to achieve set targets by coordinating planning within appointed area of responsibility.
    • Rand per ton (R/t, Tons per CM per shift (t/cm/shift) Volumes vs. monthly TQF (Including Quality) Finance Control costs to ensure that maintenance practices are carried out within budget.
    • Delivery against budget and reporting calendar vs. target SHE.
    • Ensure best in mine safety performance and continuous improvement of key safety metrics to maintain required RCR.

    Formal Education

    • Matric/N3 with Maths, English and Physical Science
    • NQF Level 4 Chemical Operations

    Team Assistant

    Purpose of Job

    • To provide administrative/secretarial services to the relevant team thereby also assumes responsibility for general departmental operations.
    • To play a vital part in the administration and smooth-running of the team.
    • To provide high level support services that impact the effectiveness of the managers and functional area.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Manage day to day operational and administrative duties to provide support to the team.

    Purpose of Job

    • To assist in planning and scheduling maintenance activities and monitoring adherence to plans to reduce asset downtime.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Carry out engineering planning activities for specific sections/ departments that optimise sweating of assets ensure maintenance schedules are adhered to and reduce total cost of ownership.
