    Coordinator LIMS

    Job Purpose:

    • To be responsible for the ownership, coordination and maintenance of all electronic laboratory information and data (results) within the lab

    Minimum Required Qualification:

    • National Diploma or Btech in Analytical Chemistry

    The Appointee should:

    • Certificate in Querying with Transcript_SQL2016.
    • Minimum 3 years LIMS experience with In-depth knowledge of LabWare LIMS, including LabStation™, Crystal Reports, etc

    Key Responsibilities:

    • System Management  System Management Performance & Maintenance  Conduct system checks and reviews to monitor usage, reliability and availability.  Monitor system performance to identify system failures, system inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.  Recommend possible solutions to system failures, system inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.  Troubleshoot to proactively identify risks, and report to the relevant authority.  Provide and implement measures to maintain data and information integrity.  Create structures to ensure the availability of data and information to relevant stakeholders.  Faultfinding to establish the root cause of incorrect data as identified by reporting.  Design and recommend a backup strategy for each financial year ending.  Implement and maintain features and standards for system changes.  Ensure that labelling printers are maintained.  Ensure that all electronic hardware is maintained.  Emphasise alignment of systems implementation with Lonmin’s long term strategies.  Remotely connect to Lonmin network servers to fix system errors.  Identify reporting and system errors and liaise with clients upon correction.  Continuously add samples and make changes as per client request (includes the removing of samples from the system).  Integration & Optimisation  Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of specialised software standards, policies and procedures.  Make recommendations for systems design and re-design.  Be aware of new developments in systems technology and specialised software applications through benchmarking.  Proactively investigate alternative solutions to reduce systems failures and inefficiencies.  Provide support on SACO & SCADA systems.  Make recommendations as well as provide advice to drive data integrity and security.  Attend and implement learnings of National LIMS Customer Education Conferences and upgrade seminars.  Conduct test methods of new analytical methods.  Write integration scripts for instrument interfaces and Lonmin Processing Metals accounting system as well as Mining mineral resources, ensuring that data transacting is timeous and correct for Mining shafts, Concentrator Plants, BMR and Smelter operations, and Lonmin Metals and Financial forecasting.  Technical  Confirm compliance to system standards, policies, procedures and legislative requirements.  Mentor, advise and provide on-the-job assistance on all specialised information software.  Conducting system checks and reviews and monitoring performance.  Troubleshooting and fault-finding.  Identify system failures, system inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.  Participate in the design and re-design of systems, as well as the implementation of new systems.  Maintain data and information integrity on information systems.
    • Sample Management  Printing of barcodes for samples received.  Obtain quotes related to barcode roles, ribbon prices, scanners and software upgrades for ordering.  Effective categorisation of sample identities.  Maintain barcode database.
    • System Security & Data Protection  Implement and maintain security compile and report on system users failing to adhere/comply with system requirements.  Participate in the design of system security in collaboration with appropriate and relevant vendors.  Assist and ensure that database backup and recovery procedures are in place and ensure that they are current, to ensure system recovery in case of system failure and worst-case disaster recovery.  Create and index back-ups in line with organisational and external requirements.  Execute system maintenance and administration procedures to minimise incidents of lost data.  Protect data through controlling access to, and availability of specific data and information to relevant stakeholders.
    • Stakeholder Relations  Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally.  Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.  Add new users onto the LIMS reporting database.  Engage with users on IT hardware requirements and provide infrastructure as required.  Engage with metal accounting stakeholders related to data integration. Build and maintain effective work relationships with stakeholders.  Sourcing, contracting and negotiating with service providers.  Liaising with the necessary entities on any environmental management related requirements and alignment where applicable.  Collaborating with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes.
    • Financial Management  Managing the finances of the Division to achieve Organisational objectives.  Create purchase requisitions for ordering of materials and services.  Create mine store reservation for ordering of materials and services.  Create service entry sheet for payment processing on orders of materials and services invoiced.  Pull commitment reports to see outstanding items on Budget Cost.  Pull actual cost reports for analysis to be charged to the respective plants.  Take responsibility for the costing of work conducted and charge outs to Lonmin business units. Working Cost Budgets:  Setting and approving budgeting parameters for the Division in line with business requirements and financial objectives.  Approving operational expenditure.  Formulating monthly and annual budgets.     Instrumentation Mechanician SF

    Job Purpose:

    • The Instrumentation Mechanician is responsible for own safety in terms of section 2.9.3 MHSA as well as for the implementation, maintenance and improvements to Instrumentation systems in the mining, mineral processing and refining environment.

    Minimum Required Qualification:

    • Level 4: Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) and National Cert level 4 Certificate GET Education, Training and Development

    The Appointee should:

    • NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate / Grade 12 or equivalent)
    • N2 Certificate (Industrial Instrumentation and Electronics).
    • Section 13 or 26D (completed learner ship / apprentice ship) Instrument Mechanician Trade Certificate as recognized by the MQA
    • At least 3 years’ experience in a mineral processing, mining or pyro metallurgical plant.
    • Good working knowledge of SAP maintenance modules and Rockwell & Siemens PLC & DCS systems

    Job Purpose:

    • To maintain, install and commission the electrical components of the machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility. This role has a 2.9.2 appointment in terms of the MHSA, Act of 1996
