    Job Purpose

    • To provide legal advice and support to SARS operations divisions, to engage in litigation, under supervision, in support of SARS tax collections initiatives. To provide the full suite of in-house counsel support to SARS operational arms inclusive of and where required appear in court.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor of Law Degree (NQF 7).
    • 5-7 years’ legal experience in a legal environment or similar

    Specialist Legal Delivery - Centralised Litigation X3

    Job Purpose

    • Centralised Litigation Unit prepares for litigation in the Higher Courts for various disputes, including but not limited to only those focusing on tax liability.  The function involves the entire scope of litigation services, from researching legal and tax principles, analysing the merits of SARS position, drafting various court documents, preparing deponents, and possibly appearing in court.     Senior Manager: Customs Legislative Policy

    Job Purpose

    • Overseeing the functions of Customs and Excise Legislative Policy subdivision responsible for tariff amendments, maintaining the SARS Tarriff system and performing research in order to provide high level guidance to senior management and departments, facilitating legislative and operational alignment across functions.

    Education and Experience

    Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

    • Relevant Honours Degree / Postgraduate Diploma (NQF 8) in Law, Taxation, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field with 10 – 12 years’ experience in legislation and policy development, legal drafting or interpretation of laws, a regulatory, legal, or policy environment, preferably within government or a revenue authority), of which 3 – 4 years at Middle Management level.

    ALTERNATE:

    • Relevant bachelor’s degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Law, Taxation, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field with 12 - 15 years’ experience in legislation and policy development, legal drafting or interpretation of laws, a regulatory, legal, or policy environment, preferably within government or a revenue authority), of which 3 – 4 years at Middle Management level.
