    Claims Handler (m/f/d)

    Your Team

    The Impact You Will Have

    • Reporting to the Teal Leader Claims in Johannesburg, you will proactively investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle (e.g., Liability & Financial Lines) claims, ensure claims are handled within your authority limits and in line with AGCS Claims Standards procedures and guidelines.

    Some Of Your Specific Responsibilities Could Include

    • Evaluate and address coverage issues.
    • Define and execute a claim handling strategy, provide service-oriented solutions.
    • Manage the relationship with the experts/engineers and lawyers to assess the exposure for AGCS. This includes handling correspondence with all stakeholders involved.
    • Attend meetings required to successfully proceed with the claims.
    • Negotiate and settle the claims as per the insurance contract in a cost-effective manner.
    • Prepare internal claim reporting as per AGCS guidelines.
    • Engage actively with other internal departments, especially Underwriting, Distribution and Finance. You work as part of a cross functional team to win and retain key clients.

    What You’ll Bring To The Role

    • You have 5-7 years’ experience in successfully handling (e.g., Liability and Financial Lines) claims involving non-complex coverage and damage issues.
    • You have sufficient analytical skills, can get beyond details, and see the big picture.
    • You are a collaborative and positive team player.
    • You create and maintain solid relationships at every level thanks to your solid communication skills, in English (written and spoken).
    • You have good negotiation skills and are comfortable to manage expectations of various stakeholders.
    • You can build and grow relationships with customers at peer level group.
    • You have preferably a Bachelor or master’s degree in Law or Insurance.

    Property Underwriter

    Your Team 

    AGCS has a long-standing tradition of supporting the property and business interruption (PDBI) insurance solutions in all kinds of industries, from upper middle market clients to large corporates. Our team has many years of practical experience of leading the largest PDBI risks in the South African market with international insurance programs. The Team is composed of 2 Senior Underwriters.

    The Impact You Will Have 

    • Based in Johannesburg and being a member of the Property UW Community of the Mediterranean and Africa-Middle East (MEDA) (30 people approx. in total within MEDA), you will report to the Regional Property UW Manager (based in France) and you will work closely with clients and brokers to develop personalized solutions as well as developing new relationships. 
    • You will be responsible for work alongside a Senior Team to underwrite profitable new and renewal business. Your responsibilities also include supporting for negotiating participation, pricing and terms & conditions, acquiring new business and retaining existing business.

    Some of your specific responsibilities could include

    • Develop and execute the Property Line of Business (LoB) local strategy and proactively support the development of the global LoB strategy;
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients;
    • Ownership of large accounts / clients and ultimate responsibility for accounts .
    • Continue regional expansion in Middle East
    •  Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where necessary);
    • Coordinate with local Distribution to drive successful execution of strategic plan together with local Property Market Contact;
    • Positively represent AGCS internally within the Allianz Group, and externally to the market;
    • Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including e.g. Distribution, ARC, Claims, Operations

    What You’ll Bring to the Role

    • Solid relevant experience as an Underwriter, Broker or relevant equivalent in the insurance sector
    • Successful completion of relevant local regulatory exams
    • An entrepreneurial mindset and strong communication skills 
    • Able to work in an international matrix organization
    • Ability to assess risks, coverages, terms and conditions of a (potential) insurance placement and can translate this into an insurance offer 
    • A true team player and well established within the market. You have relationships with clients and brokers at peer group level
