    Senior Administrator - Trade Support

    Job Advert Summary

    The Senior Administrator - Trade Support primary responsibility involves the accurate, timely and correct confirmation of all local and international trades to counterparty allegements and the instruction of settlement to the relevant custodians.

    Minimum Requirements

    • A relevant tertiary qualification and a minimum of 5 years applicable experience;
    • Knowledge of most major custodial systems as well as OMGEO is a distinct advantage;
    • Sound understanding and experience of international trade settlements;
    • Experience in using Decalog and trade matching applications are an advantage;
    • A good understanding of MS office & IT packages (particularly Excel);
    • Knowledge of international securities markets is an advantage.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Accountability for the matching and settlement of transactions executed in all South African and Non South African Markets;
    • Liaising with clients and third parties to resolve unmatched trades: Ensuring that all settlement instructions reach the custodian timeously and that all trades are committed for settlement within the required market timelines;
    • Accountability for investigation and resolution of unmatched transactions or failed trades;

    • The reporting of unmatched trades to clients within required timelines and driving resolution thereof;
    • Maintain professional relationships with all third parties including custodians, brokers and vendors;

    Specialist - Dealing and Settlements (Maternity Cover)

    Job Advert Summary

    The Specialist: Dealing & Settlement will be expected to work with the Trade teams within Maitland’s Fund Services division. The individual will be required to assist with issues coming out of the operations, review of processes and improvement thereof.

    This individual will also be responsible for projects aimed at improving the processes within the Trade teams, actively partake in all system upgrades/enhancements, testing, Client onboarding as well as manage the Trade team’s KPI deliveries.

    Minimum Requirements

    • B.Com or similar tertiary business study, and at least 5 years experience in Asset Management portfolio administration
    • Experience in On market, Off market and FOF trading across all products and markets.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Improve the Dealing & Settlement team’s daily and monthly processes and update process documents accordingly;
    • Assist with bespoke processes and the standardization of the Dealing & Settlement processes to enable the automation of processing trade and payment volumes.
    • Provide solutions for corrective actions identified from incidents and ensure successful implementation across the team.
    • Be the primary liaison with ICT regarding applications used by the Dealing & Settlement team

    Senior Fund Accountant: Segregated Fund Accounting

    Job Advert Summary

    The Segregated Fund Accounting Senior Fund Accountant will be responsible for all aspects relating to the delivery for the start of day portfolio and reporting validation; system reconciliation; NAV oversight and daily reporting checks for segregated funds and client query support & resolution. The Senior Fund Accountant will combine their operational capabilities from all administrational departments into one function, while demonstrating a client focused ethos.

    Minimum Requirements

    • A BCom or similar, accounting, economics or investments background;
    • Proven competence and an aptitude for working with systems and its integration;
    • Knowledge and experience with the use of InvestOne, NX Manager, Tax8 & Xceptor is an advantage;
    • Computer literate with an excellent working knowledge of MS office & IT packages (particularly Excel);
    • The ability to design new processes and conceptualise and assist in the development of systems to support those processes;

    • Deliver high standards of service quality to specific clients in accordance with agreed external and internal Service Level Agreements;
    • Maintain and develop strong and trusted relationships within the different operational teams and maintain a high standard of quality output;

    Senior Administrator - Corporate Actions

    Summary

    The primary responsibility of the Senior Administrator - Corporate Actions involves the accurate and timeous identification and processing of all Corporate Action Events and any other related matters.

    Minimum Requirements

    • The position will require someone with a relevant Diploma or degree;

    Financial Reporting and Audit Accountant

    The successful applicant will be expected to prepare annual financial statements and manage the whole audit process from beginning to end for more intricate clients as well as reviewing annual financial statements prepared by junior team members and assisting junior team members with complex queries.

    • The individual will be required to have a good understanding of the following reporting standards:
    • International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) - compulsory;
    • Lux GAAP (not compulsory);
    • To be able to prepare the financial statements in line with the above listed reporting standards;
    • Audit experience is required as audit queries / liaison with external auditors takes place as part of the audit of the hedge fund clients.

    Minimum Requirements

    • An CA(SA) qualification is required, together with 3 years audit experience.
    • Audit experience in Hedge Funds would serve to your advantage as well as experience on the preparation of annual financial statements in line with the above listed reporting standards;
    • IT and Systems Skills and Knowledge:
    • Advanced level experience in using Excel and MS Word;
    • Proven competence and an aptitude for working with systems;

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Build a strong work relationship with team members, and be a primary contact for queries from various audit firms;
    • Ensure accurate and timely completion of prepared annual financial statements for review as well as delivery of audit requirements to auditors by team members, in line with fund production schedule allocations.
    • Assisting team members where required and liaison with various audit firms with regards to audit timetable to confirm and agree on provisional dates available for the audit, after review of planned audit schedule.
    • Preparation of annual financial statements based on system generated trial balances as well as other reports extracted from the accounting system in line with required reporting standards; (could also include preparation of Interim financial statements)
    • Assisting team members in compilation of audit pack if required and other information to be sent to auditors before the start of the audit in accordance with agreed audit timetable;
    • Update AFS with auditor’s comments as per auditors/partners/clients requests and distribute timeously to auditors for sign-off within agreed audit timelines;
    • Remain up to date regarding latest changes in IFRS and the relevant impact on financial reporting and assist the Team Leader – Financial Reporting and Audit in assessing technical queries from audit firms in terms of reporting requirements;
    • Report to Team Leader – Financial Reporting and Audit on a regular basis with regards to the following:
    • Escalation of possible audit delays which could result in audit overruns charged to Maitland;
    • Assist the Team Leader – Financial Reporting and audit with the below functions:
    • Reviewing of annual financial statement prepared by junior team members;
    • Advise junior team members on query resolution;
    • Training of new team members.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Detailed understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards, specifically IFRS7 : Financial Instruments: Disclosures, IFRS 9 Financial Instruments, IFRS 13 : Fair Value Measurement; IFRS 10 : Consolidated Financial Statements; IFRS 12 : Disclosure in Other Entities;
    • Beneficial if skills set/experience and understanding of Lux GAAP reporting standard, as well as understanding of differences between Lux GAAP & IFRS.
    • An understanding of funds and fund structures;
    • Knowledge of the hedge fund industry and unit trusts;
    • Previous experience in the preparation of financial statements in line with financial reporting standards;
    • Previous experience in dealing with clients;
    • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal);
    • Confident, enthusiastic and self-motivated;
    • A track record of achievement.
