    Service Technician - Brand Valley Wind Farm, South Africa

    Responsibilities:

    • Closely adhere to all safety standards and procedures. Act as a safety role model, encourage and recognize others completing safe acts, and intervene when unsafe acts are being practiced. Identify gaps in safety standards and safety risks in the operational environment, implement effective risk mitigation, and provide recommendations to higher-level technical staff and management.
    • Demonstrate and promote integrity, strong initiative, a no-compromise focus on safety, and quality of work on a continuous basis and may assist with or perform basic quality audits of less experienced staff. Perform intermediate level wind turbine maintenance and/or installation tasks as assigned, such as proficient operation and use of tools (including but not limited to specialized calibration, hydraulic, power tools) and basic turbine equipment. Document tasks where required and enters data into company system (e.g. SAP).
    • Effectively gather information regarding turbine performance / issues. May diagnose, recommend, and implement solutions up to intermediate routine issues. Seek assistance when encountering turbine issues outside trained skill level to ensure success in resolution.
    • Follow basic structured problem-solving process to complete troubleshooting and diagnostic tasks to include the use of diagnostic tools (e.g. basic fluke meter functions, hydraulic pressure gauge) and independently initiate and perform most work tasks, as well as follow defined instructions and maintenance schedules, executing plans as directed, and perform according to written and verbal instruction from higher-level technical staff.
    • Effectively promote strong team environment by assisting teammates in accomplishing goals and mentoring lower level technical staff. Visibly support and promote change initiatives and team spirit and cooperation as well as proactively look for improvement opportunities to job appropriate processes and procedures and communicate through appropriate channels or implement improvements using the appropriate control management protocol.
    • Interface with customer and may respond to customer inquiries. Refer complex customer inquiries to higher-level technical staff or manager. Demonstrate strong customer focus at all time.

    Qualifications:

    • Tertiary diploma or equivalent and a minimum one (1) year technical wind industry experience, OR six (6) months technical wind industry experience and a certificate of completion from a Wind Technician program, OR in absence of technical wind industry experience, minimum three (3) years' experience working with hydraulic, electrical, mechanical skills and/or composite skills.
    • Trade tested - Mechanical or electrical Demonstrated use and understanding of intermediate level power tools such as hydraulic, power torque and diagnostic tools (e.g. fluke meter functions and hydraulic pressure gauge)
    • Ability to demonstrate an intermediate working knowledge of industrial safety practices / protocols (e.g. Confined Space, energy isolation)
    • Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain a Passport
    • Strong attention to detail and execution excellence and good interpersonal and customer relation skills as well as the ability to effectively collaborate with employees at all professional levels and ability to respectfully follow supervision and support initiatives
    • Basic computer operation skills, familiarity with internet-based program navigation, and ability to generate and interpret computer data and ability to read, interpret and understand drawings and schematics to validate work activity and ensure that risks are identified and mitigated.

    Competencies:

    • Ability to constantly climb stairs and ladders 60-125 meters in height, in order to access work area as well as the ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 30 Kg in weight
    • Ability to frequently walk, stand, look up/down, balance, stoop, twist, kneel, and bend and the ability to constantly grip and manually manipulate, often with repetitive motion, items such as, but not limited to, hand tools and turbine partsComfort constantly working in confined spaces and at heights over 100 meters
    • Ability to speak, read, comprehend, and write in English as well as the ability to successfully participate in all training courses, including controlled decent
    • Ability to hear and see, including the ability to perceive depth and distinguish colours, sufficient to perform job functions and use close range radios and also able to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions
    • Comfort working remotely in a Turbine as part of a team with limited supervisory interaction
    • Ability to work in a respirator, including passing a respirator medical evaluation and fitness test.

    Project Manager - Sandhurst

    The Construction Department oversees all wind farm projects from start to completion. The team takes responsibility for a wind farm once a contract has been signed and remains responsible until the final tests are completed. Working closely with the sales, legal, logistics, procurement and finance departments, the construction team must keep the project on budget, on schedule and to ensure our internal safety and quality standards are met.

    Reporting to the Head of Project Management the main responsibilities are:

    • Full project life cycle ownership
    • Work creatively and demonstrating teamwork, innovation and standards
    • Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources and chairs the project management team meetings
    • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership
    • Assist in dispute, negotiation, arbitration or litigation, as needed
    • Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables
    • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team
    • Extensive understanding of project management principles, methods and techniques
    •  Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil. Master's in project management or MBA will be also welcomed.
    • At least 7+ years of experience in project management teams and construction, preferably acquired in the wind industry or in the energy sector.
    • Experience in installation and EPC contracts. International experience will be a considered as an asset.
    • Financial and Contract Management skills
    • Strong proficiency in spoken and written English

    Delivery Manager, Johannesburg/Cape Town - South Africa

    The Transport Coordinator will be fully responsible for all transport related activities including customs clearance. A close coordination of all deliveries together with factories, construction sites, service locations, our global vessel team, the nominated transport company and other relevant stakeholders is required.

    These locations scope of responsibility will be primarily (but not limited) deliveries into Italy.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare Scope of Supply for transport sourcing
    • Project Budget preparation support and responsibility for all transport and customs related ledgers.
    • Preparing of project transport planning
    • Ensure alignment of transport shipment planning with production and construction planning
    • Timely reporting, feedback and communication of transport and customs activities progress
    • Assessment of Road Surveys
    • Coordinate deliveries and delivery changes with Project Managers, Site Managers, Transport Companies, Customs, Vessel, General Cargo and potentially the TC at origin (incl. WTG foundations & Site Parts). Also, the coordination of on carriage leg loading in Port of Discharge with Stevedore.
    • Investigate and support problem-solving of delivery and transport quality issues
    • Plan and coordinate return transport of transport equipment from construction sites to factories
    • Transport capacity monitoring as well as monitoring and reporting of transport risks
    • Following Vestas processes and standards, including the correct usage of our Transport Management System
    • Identify and develop cost out initiatives within the supply chain
    • Support inbound general cargo processes to the Vestas locations (sites, service warehouses, factories)
    • Ensure compliance of customs processes

    Qualifications:

    • Preferably University degree in Engineering /Logistics / Business
    • Three years experience in a similar position 

    Competencies:

    We are looking for a candidate with a total professional experience of 3-8 years with at least 3 years of related experience within the transport and customs area or similar combined with well-developed transport project management skills and logistic. Junior profiles are also encouraged to apply. 

    • Experience in Project Management and project P&L follow up within the logistics area is desirable
    • Over-size or heavy lift transport experience is highly valued
    • Maritime commercial experience in project bulk is highly valued
    • Good understanding of IT with a solid knowledge of ERP systems (preferable SAP)

    Stock Keeper, Chaba Wind Farm - South Africa

    Vestas MED Warehouses provides spares and tools for the installation and servicing of Vestas wind turbines and are at the forefront in securing Vestas as the world leader in wind energy. The Material Handler primary focus will be the safe and flawless operations of the warehouse and will be responsible for warehousing, performing shipping and receiving tasks, using a forklift, and other industrial machinery, picking and packing tools, parts and assemblies, performing inventory counts, maintaining high safety standards, and utilizing SAP for data entry.

    Responsibilities:

    • Maintain proper stock controls by performing manual and clerical tasks involved in receiving, preparation. and stocking, issuing, shipping, physical inventory, disposition, control and protection of company property.

    • Work content: Able to use/hold/manipulate small tools and parts with hands. Simple grasping, power grasping and fine manipulation is required. Able to use inspection tools and perform torqueing operations.
    • Vision/Hearing: High level Hand/Eye coordination required. Eye protection required in many instances.
    • Environmental:. Capable of using personal protective equipment including hearing protection if required.
