    Servicing Administrator

    Key Purpose of the role
    The position is responsible for the day to day managing of incoming work through various channels within the Retirement Funds business unit.  This is a core administration function and the incumbent would be required to holistically manage and index incoming tasks related to Retirement Fund disciplines, for example member and employer enquiries, monthly contribution, claim, investment option, individual transfer in, section 14 and section 28 processes.  The incumbent will be responsible for processing claims as per the standard set in the team.  The incumbent must ensure that processes and procedures are implemented, maintained and improved.  The incumbent needs to ensure operational activity is conducted within regulatory frameworks, accurately, effectively and efficiently.  The incumbent must ensure that he/she has the knowledge skills, tools and competencies required to perform the required job within service level agreements.  The incumbent must have an appetite to be part of a growing new business unit, continuous improvement, able to adapt to change easily and play a role in change management within the team, challenge the status quo, inspire and motivate others.  The incumbent will continually review existing processes and procedures in order to ensure the delivery of committed services to the Umbrella Clients.

    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

    • Processing and indexing of all daily transactional activity within agreed service levels
    • Processing of daily and monthly transactional activity, such as but not limited to switches and transfer ins within agree service level agreements
    • Processing of claims according to standards and within service levels.
    • Performing QA function for document verification where necessary
    • Ensure that day to day administration is accurate, compliant and abreast with regulatory frameworks such as, Pension Fund Act, Tax act, Rules of the Discovery Life Umbrella Pension and Provident Funds, Participating Employer special rules.  Ensures delivery of key operation attributes such as data completeness and data quality.
    • Dealing with queries from internal stakeholders, communicate effectively with clients to resolve queries and escalations, ensure client expectations are met.
    • Prepare management and client reports for submission to superiors
    • Develop and maintain excellent business relations with internal and external parties.
    • The incumbent is the Subject Matter Experts in Retirement Fund areas under management.  Produces new ideas, approaches or insights.  Produces range of solution to problems, do root cause analysis.  Effective decision making by “out of the box” thinking and weighing up risks involved.

    • Relevant Industry Qualifications – Wealth Management, Introduction to Retirement Funds – Advantageous.

    Developer (Senior) - Talent Pool

    Key Purpose

    Design and implement robust, scalable and optimally performing systems using Java related technologies, according to provided specifications, standards and procedures, while ensuring compliance with the architectural standards and guidelines laid out by Discovery.

     

    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

    Design:

    • Translate business requirements into technical designs adhering to Discovery Insure processes, standards and guidelines, taking cognisance of performance, security and scalability requirements. Deliver within agreed timeframes.

    • Liaise with relevant parties where clarification of business requirements or resolution to technical issues is needed

    • Research and find effective solutions to technical issues that arise

    • Estimate development timelines based on business requirements

     

    Development:

    • Construct robust, maintainable, scalable, optimally performing system code in line with technical specifications, following prescribed process, standards and procedures. Deliver within agreed timeframes

    • Conduct unit testing and fix any defects found

     

    Testing:

    • Verify build stability and quality with development team before releasing to test team, aiming to release with zero defects

    • Assist the Business analyst in ensuring the test pack includes relevant scenarios and test data.

    • Consult and assist in reviewing risk / impact of defects found in testing, and assist with fixing where necessary

     

    Support / Troubleshooting:

    • Assist system users with technical support issues and handle according to defined procedures

    • Ability to effectively analyse root cause of system errors (data errors, performance and stability issues)

     

    Mentoring / Team development:

    • Actively coach other developers to understand and apply the Insure coding and architectural standards correctly, as well as any technologies in use

    • Perform code review to ensure logical correctness, maintainability, scalability, performance, compliance with architectural standards and frameworks

    Java (Web) Developer

    Key Purpose

    Within the Application Platform Services system area, the Java Developer must work together with Business Analyst, UX & Content Teams, System Architect and managers to understand the overall business need and the requirements, design the system solution using various approaches and technologies, implement the designed solution in the system with high quality source codes.

     

    The Java Developer will support the projects throughout the project life-cycle, including requirements, design, implementation, release and post release support.

    The Java Developer in the Application Platform Services area must be technically able support and maintain the deployed applications on dev, test and production environments.

      • Matric/Grade 12 and formal Java qualifications.

      • 3 years Java systems development experience

      • Java EE knowledge and experience

      • Source control, experience with GIT

      • Experience with industry standard Application Servers (preferably WebLogic)

      • Knowledge of OO design principles and development patterns

     

    • Preferred
