    General Manager Operations: Southern SBU

    • We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager Operations to drive profitability through the effective execution of our company's strategy. The ideal candidate will play a key role in formulating and implementing strategic business plans and optimizing operational performance across all levels of the business.
    • The position is based in Cape Town and will report to the Chief Executive Operations.

    The main responsibilities of this position include:

    Strategy and SBU Business Plans

    • Formulation of Strategic Business Unit (SBU) plans to support overall operations and business strategy
    • Cross functional collaboration to ensure achievement of Business unit goals

    SBU KPI’s

    • Optimising sales performance within the SBU for existing and new stores
    • SBU Profit Optimization
    • Optimisation of Financial Services Growth for Total Cellular, Card and Layby
    • Managing SBU costs by ensuring all controllable expenses are in line with budget and by minimising shrinkage

    Business Processes and Methodologies

    • Maintain and improve operations methodologies and practices
    • Ensure Corporate Governance by improving internal audit compliance levels

    Property

    • Manage all property interventions within the business unit including new store openings, electives and GM Capex spend

    People

    • Manage the people plans within SBU to ensure:
    • Vacancy Rate in line with plans
    • Rolling Annual Turnover: <15% Voluntary
    • Diversity functional plans in line with benchmarks
    • Team development
    • Managing performance
    • Talent review & succession planning
    • Action plans for succession, high potential talent and retention risks are clear, realistic and appropriately managed
    • Climate and engagement
    • Turnover within direct team
    • Engagement Survey Index for direct team and follow up on action plans, where applicable

    Applicants for the position will need to meet the following minimum requirements:

    • 5 years or more Senior Management experience in the retail sector with a proven track record in retail operations, showing clear ability to set and deliver on business targets, timelines and strategic plans.
    • Relevant tertiary qualification
    • Proven leadership ability with strong self management skills
    • Business and interpersonal proficiency
    • Ability to communicate and motivate using strong written and verbal communication

    Store Planner

    So, what will you do?

    • Assisting stores in resolving any queries relating to stock.

    What experience & qualifications do you need?

    • A minimum of 2-3 years sound experience in store planning within a clothing retail environment is an important requirement.

    The following additional experience would be ideal:

    • Previous store management experience
    • Previous exposure to general logistics and supply chain processes
    • Experience working in planning systems such as Location Planning, JDA Allocation Planning and/or Just Enough
    • Experience in Outerwear
    • A working knowledge of the latest Microsoft packages (Word & Excel) is essential.
    • Experience in working at an advanced level in Excel would be a definite advantage.
    • The following qualification would be ideal:
    •  Grade 12 Certificate/Matric is essential.
    • A National Diploma or Degree in Business/Retail Management or Accounting/Finance would be beneficial.

    • Two (2) years retail experience which includes at least one year in a supervisory and or management position

    Key Responsibilities

    • Delivering and implementing departmental business plans that support the SBU’s merchandise strategy.

    • Preparing and delivering merchandise assortment plans that support the signed-off departmental business strategy.
    • Ensuring sufficient inflows to maintaining agreed replenishment service levels to achieve agreed departmental growth and profitability as per the Business Plan.
    • Providing accurate and timeous merchandise information to minimise risk and optimise business opportunities.
    • Executing and managing project plans to achieve the agreed objectives (if applicable).

    Qualifications required:

    • A Grade 12 certificate is an essential requirement.
    • A qualification would be a definite advantage. Preferred qualifications are:
    • B. Comm./ B. Science degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Stats and Business Science OR
    • National Diploma majoring in Internal Auditing and Cost and Management Accounting OR
    • National Diploma in Financial Information Systems

    Knowledge of:

    • the retail merchandise cycle with regards to Buying, Planning, Logistics and Stores

    • Previous exposure to general logistics and supply chain processes
    • Experience working in planning systems.
    • Experience working with the most recent Microsoft software, including Word and Excel, is a prerequisite. Proficiency in advanced Excel usage would be an asset.
