    Control and Instrumentation Team Lead

    Purpose

    • As a C&I Team Lead, you will work closely with the Senior Manager-Control & Instrumentation: Midrand and his Team in all aspects of ensuring that engineering and service requirements are met across all sites, so that customers identify Proconics as a trusted and critical partner to their business. The major responsibilities of this position are to provide team leadership to the Control and Instrumentation engineering Team and ensure delivery efficient and effective engineering solutions for Brownfield EPC projects. The role ensures technical excellence, adherence to project requirements, and compliance with industry standards. Deliver control and instrumentation discipline deliverables and oversee that the intent is being carried through the 
    • design; managing interfaces and supporting commissioning and optimisation, where projects span across multiple disciplines. Additionally, the team lead provides pro-active recommendations to customers and other key internal stakeholders to establish long-term partnership. The Team Lead will lead a small team of Engineers and Designers to provide a high-quality product to our clients.

    Requirements

    • Lead the Control and Instrumentation Engineering team, ensuring technical excellence and high-quality project execution.

    • Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., procurement, electrical, civil) to ensure smooth project execution.

    Qualifications/Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic/Control and Instrumentation). 
    • Specialised certifications in Instrumentation and Control systems will be advantageous.
    • Professional Registration with ECSA. 
    • 10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering within an EPC project environment, with a focus on execution phases. 
    • Advanced knowledge of control (PLC, DCS, Safety systems) and instrumentation engineering principles. 
    • Knowledge of HMI/SCADA development. 
    • Proficiency in C&I design software and tools. 
    • In-depth understanding of technical specifications and industry standards.

    Project Planner

    Purpose

    • The successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with the Project Managers and Engineers within the Coastal Profit Centre in all aspects of planning and costing of projects, to ensure the successful measurements and tracking of projects. You will provide input and develop project schedules which is supported with progress measuring systems to track and assist Project Managers with developing and submitting project reports.

    Requirements

    • Provide support and inform the Project Managers (PMs) in respect of progress measurement on the project, using a progress measuring system. 
    • Prepare, issue, and maintain the master schedule of multiple projects / contracts. 
    • Review the bid milestones and overall completion timetable in conjunction with the project scope at award and identify any anomalies or inconsistencies. 
    • In collaboration with the project team and all other participants, develop the work breakdown structure (WBS) and progress trackers. 
    • In consultation with the project team, identify key critical constraints and interfaces. 
    • Establish key milestone dates in agreement with the PM and contract dates, ensuring the schedule is set up to deliver a cashflow positive project.  
    • Establish productivity norms, time standards and progress measurement criteria for all disciplines in liaison with project controls. 
    • Development of a basis of schedule (BoS) and / or schedule management plan for approval by the PM. 
    • Set up the interface between the schedule and the applied company / project system (if required). 
    • Analyse schedule / Identify the critical path and near critical paths in the project implementation schedule, report slippages and gains against the baseline schedule. 
    • Monitor, control and report the status of free and total float in the schedule. 
    • Evaluate and integrate contractor's and supplier's schedules and report findings to the PM and project engineer. 
    • Integrate contractors actual progress into overall schedule.

    • Provide input and review proposed change management time implications and document the result, manage approved changes in the schedule.

    • Provide Visual management reports, KPI’s and Assist PMs to produce management reports, monthly status reports including invoicing assistance. 
    • Develop and update Planning Dashboards & S-curve weekly/monthly. 
    • Develop Tender and shutdown schedule. 
    • Ensure that all plans and schedules are prepared and executed in accordance with the Company’s planning standards.

    Qualifications/Experience

    • Relevant Tertiary qualifications will be advantage. 
    • Professional registration will be beneficial. 
    • Relevant experience in Engineering and Construction projects that mainly focus on multi-discipline projects. 
    • Familiar with Petrochemical plant requirements and standards. 
    • Minimum 3-10 years relevant experience in planning/scheduling related to above. 
    • Expert knowledge of and competence in the use of Primavera and MS Project is compulsory. 
    • Planning and experience in multi-discipline projects will be beneficial. 
    • Contract experience in a consulting and construction contractor environment (NEC3 PSC/ECC familiarity is a must).

    Senior Technologist - Control and Instrumentation

    SCADA Engineer /Technologist

    Purpose

    • The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the design, installation, factory acceptance testing and commissioning process of the entire Substation Automation System on projects. The candidate will also form part of a SCADA Team that will service other offices from the Johannesburg office. The candidate should have a good knowledge of substation automation systems and all the sub-components, including HMIs, Tele-control applications, telecommunication, cyber securities and remote engineering access, etc.

    Requirements

    • Designing of HMI, RTU and ODF Panels.

    Qualifications/Experience

    • BSc/BEng/ BTech in Electrical Engineering as a minimum. 
    • 3 - 4 years’ experience within a similar role. 
    • Computer Literate in MS Excel and MS Word. 
    • Excellent Document writing skills. 
    • Brownfield and Greenfield Projects. 
    • Valid driver's license and own Transport. 
    • Fault finding on Serial and Ethernet Networks. 
    • Fiber optic networks. 
    • Experience in at least one of the following sectors: renewables, transmission & distribution, 
    • power generation, mining. 
    • Experience in the following fields will be advantages:

    Senior Process Engineer

    Purpose

    • The Senior Process Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery of technical advisory services and project execution within the Proconics Group, contributing to the advancement of the South African Just Energy Transition. This position is integral to the development and implementation of innovative and efficient solutions for clients operating critical hazardous chemical processing infrastructure. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Senior Process Engineer will leverage their expertise to contribute to conceptual design and front-end engineering ensuring projects align with Proconics' mission of transformative brilliance. This includes the practical application of process engineering principles to enhance client facility longevity and efficiency. The role involves close collaboration with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders to effectively solve complex process engineering problems. The position will further be responsible for ensuring that equipment vendor inquiries are efficiently managed and addressed to meet project requirements and deadlines.

    Requirements

    • Deliver process technical deliverables for concept and basic design packages. 
    • Develop process and hydraulic simulations and able to interpret results. 
    • Play a pivotal role during flow sheet (PFD/P&ID) development. 
    • Participate in safety review studies (PHA/HAZOP etc.) and closing off actions. 
    • Translate process intent across disciplines during design and managing interfaces. 
    • Interacting with OEMs and evaluate vendor proposals for bid clarifications.

    • 10+ years’ experience as Process Engineer in Petrochemical industry with a proven track record in design, commissioning and operation support.    
    • Registered Pr. Eng. with ECSA. 
    • Computer literacy with MS office and Process simulation tools (Aspen+, Hysys, PROII, etc.), equipment sizing tools (HTRI, HTFS, etc.) and hydraulics tools (AFT Fathom/Arrow, Flownex, etc.).    
    • Knowledge of applicable design codes, standards and regulations.

    Construction Manager (FTC)

    Purpose

    • As a Construction Manager, you will collaborate closely with the project delivery team to ensure all construction requirements are met, strengthening Proconics' reputation as a trusted and essential partner to its clients. The candidate must be based in Cape Town or Durban and be willing to travel as required. This role reports to the Senior Manager: Construction and SHEQ (Coastal).

    Requirements

    • Lead a team of contractors in guiding their planning, organizing, coordinating and safe execution of construction projects. 
    • Verify the construction scopes in RFQ/ RFP phases of construction projects to support the project team in compiling detailed BOQ’s. 
    • Continuously develop, monitor, support and implement construction management processes/ systems that support and promote the business and client continuous improvement efforts. 
    • Legal responsibilities as per Construction Regulations (CR) 8.1 (core) and/or 8.2 as an assistant to relieve and/ or support construction managers on site as and when required. 
    • Oversee and guide construction projects from initial phase to completion.

    • Review the project in-depth to schedule activities and assist the planner with detailed timelines for execution phase of projects together with the contractor.

    • Must be registered or working towards becoming a registered construction manager with SACPCMP. 
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Construction Manager. Advanced knowledge of construction management processes means and methods and contractor management skills. 
    • Understanding of all the different construction planning processes and phases. 
    • Good knowledge of the New Engineering Contracts (NEC3) Engineering and Construction Contracts (ECC) types of contracts. 
    • Ability to plan proactively towards achieving key construction milestones.
