Role Summary:

• Proofread and edit all material
• Ensure copy is in line with the style guide of the particular brand (you are working on)
• Translate copy from English to Afrikaans and vice versa
• Check the final sign-off of proofs before it goes to print

Requirements

Minimum relevant experience and skills/attributes required:

• Relevant tertiary qualification
• Proficient in MS Office (MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
• A good command of both English and Afrikaans languages (superb language skills)
• At least 2 years’ working experience in Proofreading and Editing (translating English and Afrikaans)
• Experience in and knowledge of Adobe InDesign (will be advantageous)
• Excellent communication and multi-tasking skills
• Team player with the ability to work independently
• Attributes needed: Ability to work well under pressure, confident, energetic, proactive, reliable, accountable with good follow-through, meticulous with attention to detail

Other:

• Willing to work on alcohol brands
• Flexible to work beyond normal working hours (overtime if and when required)
• Willing to work on-site (at the Cape Town office if and when required)
• Driver’s license with own vehicle

• A desktop publishing artist is a skilled DTP Art Director, responsible for translating the templatized work of creative art directors, populating a price and product layout against a brief and finalizing it into print and digital files.
• Working to a design brief from the client or designer
• Using DTP software (Adobe Suite, especially InDesign) to produce a layout for each page of the publication
• Using internal systems; workbook to action briefs, communication, timesheets
• Using RMS to fully complete all DTP work - no manual changes unless communicated and flagged
• Meeting required deadlines, tight turn arounds
• Fully understanding and adhering to DTP processes and systems for communication, circulation, FA checks and disking
• Understanding the full FA check list and always adhering to this, making sure each job has gone through the FA check list.
• Selecting formatting, such as the size and style of type, column width and spacing
• Selecting and checking colours
• Excellent attention to detail

Requirements

Minimum Relevant Experience required:

• 2+ years’ experience in DTP Art Direction
• Experience in working within a live retail environment would be advantageous
• Understanding pressures

Minimum Education requirements:

• Diploma in Art Direction- highly advantageous but not essential
• Relevant Adobe software
• Mac knowledge
