    Senior Superintendent Karee

    Description

    The purpose of the role is to implementation and delivery of one large, or multiple smaller projects against safety, time, quality and cost standards and risks, and has a definite emphasis on the practical, technical and commercial management of a project.

    Fulfils the link between the Regional Manager and operational team. The Senior Superintendent is responsible for all on-site activities, including organizing work and making sure all key materials are delivered on time.

    Business/Functional Management

    • Execute project responsibilities in line with organizational strategy, in order to achieve set goals.
    • Executing project responsibilities to support sustainability of the broader business, as per operational project requirements.
    • Ensure compliance and adherence to policies, procedures, practices and legislative requirements at all levels, identify gaps, propose improvements and implement approved changes throughout the project operations.
    • Identify and escalate issues that may arise from conflicts between internal and external stakeholder requirements.
    • Effectively utilize resources in line with project strategy, to ensure effective project delivery.
    • Give inputs to improvement opportunities and implement approved initiatives for their area.

    Financial, Commercial & Contracts Management

    • Estimator on tender response structuring, site visits. May be involved with finalization of tenders, and structuring the operationalization thereof.
    • Implement financial, commercial and contracts management processes and procedures, as set by the organization, and give inputs to contracts structuring.
    • Draft contract programme for the site, in conjunction with Regional Manager; Assist in drawing up a master programme.
    • Responsible for managing site costing, as per standard policies and procedures for cost management.
    • Ensure that all relevant labour, materials, plant and sub-contractors are procured in good time for the contract and within budget specifications.
    • Monitor programme by marking up and taking corrective action where necessary.
    • Revise long-term programmes due to changed conditions; Identify variations on rates and scope, in conjunction with relevant stakeholders, prepare variations, and present to Regional Manager for approval.

    Risk Management & Compliance, incl. ESG responsibility.

    • Ensure the company's policy on social responsibility is adhered to.
    • Align internal and external stakeholders to contract conditions and requirements, and the impact thereof, for their area of responsibility.
    • Ensure all project risks and opportunities are identified, and mitigating actions implemented and monitored; as well as aligning all stakeholders as is relevant, for their area of responsibility; elevate risks as appropriate. 

    Stakeholder Management (Internal/External)

    • Maintain working relationship with head office structures with regards to support and professional services (HR, Safety, Quality, Plant, Survey, Commercial, Finance, IT, QS), in support of project delivery.
    • Promote ongoing open communication with Client Resident Engineer, Mining Manager and other client managers to foster good relations between FAT and the Client, through appropriate forums and interfaces.

    Operations & Project Management

    • Responsible for project execution and risk management on one or multiple sites - within budget, scope, timelines, productivity and SHEQ standards.
    • Implement and execute management and production controls, measures and reports for a specific site, taking corrective action to ensure effective and efficient delivery of site project objective.

    Management Operating System & Reporting

    • Implement company policy and procedural requirements for recordkeeping, maintenance and monitoring of site records.
    • Attend relevant meetings with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accountability and SLA / specification / performance achievement.

    Staff Management

    • Guide, lead, and direct subordinate staff so that they are able to achieve the objectives set for them as well as understand and align with the strategic direction and goals of the parent company.
    • Monitor and manage performance of subordinate staff in compliance with the Performance Management policy and processes.
    • Ensure consistent implementation and compliance of subordinate staff and staff on site to company policies, procedures and practices.

    Qualifications

    • BSc Engineering or BTech Engineering (mining / metallurgy / industrial /civil or similar)
    • Project Management qualification would be advantageous
    • Management qualification will be advantageous
    • Production management and Mine residue disposal 201 will be an added advantage

    Experience

    • At least 5 years relevant experience in respect of managing
    • sections of a Tailings and/or Remining Site, as Superintendent level or as Mine Overseer / Superintendent
    • Mining Production experience would be an advantage
    • Must have practical and hands-on experience in the management of foremen, labour and plant resources
    • Experience in planning and setting up tailings projects, preferably at Superintendent level or higher.
    • At least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a tailings / mining environment, at Superintendent level

    Skills, Qualities and Abilities required

    • Solid understanding of the Mining, Production and Tailings Industries with specific emphasis on Tailings business
    • Knowledge and understanding of the national legislation, standards and bylaws applicable to Tailings business

    SHEQ Coordinator X 2

    PURPOSE

    • The aim is to oversee SHEQ Co-ordination within BU, compile combine, reports, and manage all safety aspects to deliver compliance towards internal and external environmental requirements. To create an environment where duties can be performed safely, and risks are known and managed.

    Requirements
    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Policy, Targets, Objectives & Goals

    •  Ensure that the current policies are displayed at all areas of the operation. Comply with the objectives, goals and targets set by the company.
    •  Assist the BU manager to set up annual SHEQ targets & objectives for each BU.
    •  Ensure all employees are made aware of policies, targets, objectives and goals.
    •  Communicate policies, targets, objectives and goals with clients as per internal and external client requirement.

     Legal Aspects/Requirements

    •  Ensure company practices comply with legal and other requirements falling in the risk management domain.
    •  Ensure submissions of applicable statutory documents.
    •  Ensure that all employees are made aware of the latest legislative requirements.
    •  Ensure that necessary legal and other appointments are made and maintained around responsibility.
    •  Advise management / appointees of the roles, responsibilities and duties in terms of risk management. Establish a working relationship with regulatory bodies (DME, Dept of Labour, etc).

    Training

    •  Assist in managing training interventions to equip all employees to have the necessary skills to be competent to perform their roles with the least amount of risk possible.
    •  Form part of the training initiatives of the company to improve employees understanding of the risk management systems.
    •  Ensure that the necessary risk assessments and action plans are compiled, maintained and reviewed.

    Monitoring and Evaluation

    •  Create risk management awareness by making use of the appropriate media.
    •  Monitor the medical status of employees.
    •  Manage employee health exposure levels within acceptable limits.
    •  Monitor environmental compliance and implement action plans.

    Reporting, Recording and/or Review

    •  Submit monthly reports as required. Report all incidents to the responsible individuals as per company procedure. Report on WCA status on a monthly basis.
    •  Regularly inform management of the risk status of the areas of responsibility. Record all incident statistics as per requirement. Record all incident information as per requirement.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    •  Grade 12
    •  National Diploma in Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Management
    •  Degree will be advantageous
    •  SAMTRAC, COMSOC 1 and 2, ISO 45001:2018 Implementation

    EXPERIENCE

    • At least 3 to 5 years’ experience in a mining or construction safety environment as a safety Officer or similar.
    • Knowledge of OHSA and MHSA

    •  Must be an expert in safety orientation and have advanced understanding of legislation.

    General Worker - Phalaborwa

    Description

    To ensure that all planned operational targets for deposition of tailings are met as per contractual obligation in time and good quality

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work with team leader / supervisor to achieve planned operational targets
    • Perform inspections on designated area of responsibility every day
    • Planning and managing of tailings material on site and at depositing areas
