    Senior Financial Advisor - Durban

    Description of the role 

    • Responsible for providing financial advice on both the Investec Life risk and My Investments products to Investec Private Bank clients in accordance with FAIS legislation and according to Investec's professional financial advice guidelines.

    Description of the skill and experience required 

    • This includes doing an analysis of the client's financial affairs (including a Risk inventory), developing a financial plan (Six Step Financial Planning Process) and selling Investec Life and My Investments products directly to the clients should this be recommended in the financial plan. Ensure that proper record keeping of advice is maintained.
    • Perform annual financial reviews with clients
    • Clients will be sourced through Private Bank Marketing or by referrals from the Private Bankers directly
    • Build and maintain close relationships with Private Bankers. Private Bankers are the gatekeepers to the clients and must be included or kept informed in all activities with clients to ensure continued access and support
    • Ensure credibility with clients and Private Bankers through professionalism and demonstration of expertise
    • Assist with the sales and marketing of Investec Life product range with other distribution or service channels. Advisors will also be required to assist the Client Services Centre should phone in clients require advice or more technical (product and advice) support
    • Assist regional Private Bank management with marketing and sales plans
    • Always operate within the Private Bank business strategies and Investec's brand guidelines
    • Develop and manage own sales plan and sales pipeline
    • Extensive regional travel required

    Experience, skill and capability
    Education | Knowledge

    • Relevant tertiary qualification and CFP would be preferred
    • Three to five years' experience in financial services preferable in financial advice or legal advice positions

    Legal Advisor (12136)

    Description

    • Drafting, amending, negotiating and/or reviewing for comment financial and/or commercial documents including, but not limited to, shareholder agreements, sale of share agreements, sale of business agreements, loan agreements, security documents, demand guarantees, participation agreements, service level agreements, subordination agreements, tri-partite agreements, step in rights agreements, undertakings, indemnities, confidentiality agreements, term sheets/facility letters and other non-standard documents for local and off shore transactions
    • Amending and/or reviewing for comment commercial leases, co-ownership agreements, development and construction agreements and pre-sale offers to purchase
    • Assisting consultants in the implementation of structured lending deals for local and offshore transactions including, but not limited to, applying and considering all regulatory frameworks, managing the legal process, managing and liaising with external attorneys and clients, reviewing documentation prepared by external attorneys and liaising with internal stakeholders (Credit, Legal Risk, and Property Risk)
    • Liaising, building relationships with and working together with the National Legal and Technical team including, but not limited to, assisting with legal advice in all regions
    • Providing advice and legal support to consultants, risk and operational teams including but not limited to, drafting letters (including non-standard extension letters, amendment letters and bespoke letters to client) and providing advice on the acceptability of documents (including resolutions and constitutional documents)
    • Assisting consultants with client queries on standard documentation and where necessary, meeting with clients to resolve issues and queries
    • Discussing amendments to processes and documents, project managing legal matters for implementation in the Private Bank business, assisting in drafting policy documents for Private Bank and working with Operations and IT to implement efficiency changes
    • Researching and advising on the impact of legislative changes applicable to the Private Bank and its products and providing opinions on various aspects of law impacting Private Bank, including providing advice on legislation (including the Companies Act, NCA, CPA, Competition Commission, Banks Act, Code of Banking Practice, FICA and SARB notification requirements)
    • Liaising and negotiating with external attorneys on opinions and settling drafting of or amendments to documents
    • Drafting, communicating and advising on Private Bank product terms and conditions (for private bank accounts, lending, cash investments, Travel by Investec and My Investments) and finalising amendments to Private Bank lending, cash and other product documentation
    • Building relationships and liaising with stakeholders within Private Bank and the rest of the Investec Group, including Credit, Compliance, Legal Risk, Property Risk, Structured Property Finance, Banking, Shared Services, Client Services Centre and Operations

    Experience, skills and capability

    • Admitted Attorney
    • Between 5- and 10-years' relevant post articles experience in a commercial law firm or corporate environment in financial services

    Head of Operational Risk - IFB (12133)

    Description

    • This role will be responsible for the implementation, embedding and maintenance of the operational risk management framework and associated risk responsibilities and requirements within the context of the Investec for Business division of the Specialist Bank. The role included the leadership and co-ordination of the Operational Risk Management team.

    Responsibilities: 

    Implement the Group's Operational Risk Management Framework and strategy. Ensure all aspects of the framework are executed effectively by providing assurance on the quality and effectiveness of: 

    • Risk Assessments
    • Risk Events (data accuracy requirements as set by the  ILM model with adequate reconciliations)
    • Risk Indicators (KRIs)
    • Scenarios analysis 
    • External Events  
    • Ensure accurate, timely and insightful risk reporting to group functions, summarising current risk exposure and highlighting significant risks, enabling the group and business to make effective decisions within the established risk framework
    • Align operational risk activities with combined assurance methodologies and co-ordinate activities with Internal Audit and Compliance
    • Drive a risk aware culture risk awareness and thinking around risk and control enhancements with all key stakeholders within IFB. Offer continuous education on operational risk management to maintain and enhance the risk culture of the business unit
    • Ensure effective risk governance by identifying risks and managing changes in compliance with group policies
    • Implement the Business Continuity Framework governance requirements (including OHS) and support business to ensure effective business continuity management practices

    Experience, skills and capability

    • Relevant degree
    • Risk management certification would be an advantage
    • A minimum of 2 - 4 years relevant work experience within the financial industry
    • Relevant experience within Investec or any other banking function with products that align with those of IFB

    Fullstack Developer (PB Tech - Lending) (12114)

    Description

    • Investec Sandton is looking for a Fullstack developer (at least 5 years' experience) in the Private Bank Tech – Lending team who will be part of the full application life cycle including, but not limited to, the evaluation of business requirements, system analysis and design, writing of technical specifications and diagrams, programming, unit testing, maintenance, and technical support of our applications.
