    Portfolio Manager (Life)

    Role Purpose    

    • You will play an integral part at Guardrisk, working in a unique environment alongside our clients and internal teams to market Guardrisk’s Life products, service existing and prospective clients and provide after-sales service to existing clients.

    Requirements    

    • Relevant tertiary degree and/or Insurance qualification. Marketing team consists of individuals with various technical skills such as actuaries, attorneys, accountants
    • Candidate will be required to obtain an RE5 designation
    • At least 2 - 4 years’ experience in the insurance and financial services industries
    • Technical life insurance knowledge with strong people skills to negotiate optimal solutions with various stakeholders

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Marketing Guardrisk Life to prospective new clients and developing new growth opportunities with existing clients.
    • Managing third-party cell captives, where products include, amongst others, funeral (individual and group), individual life and disability, credit life and investment products. The responsibilities include:
    • Ensuring effective management of various stakeholders in the insurance value chain (cell owners, binder holders, intermediaries, consultants, reinsurers, administrators)
    • Reviewing cells’ financials and managing revenue streams
    • Facilitating reinsurance renewals via the reinsurance department
    • Ensuring compliance with market conduct standards and relevant legislative requirements
    • Ensuring that legal contracting is correct, up to date and in place
    • Tending to client queries
    • Marketing and cross selling of Guardrisk Life’s products and services to existing clients
    • Assisting clients with product development for third-party risks
    • Setting up internal processes for each client with all relevant internal technical areas such as finance, actuarial, underwriting, legal, risk, compliance
    • Contribute to the enhancement and improvement of existing internal processes
    • Keeping up to date with legislation and regulation in the life insurance market
    • Network on industry matters to facilitate knowledge share and input to clients on their insurance businesses

    Non-Motor Claims Technician

    Role Purpose    

    • To attend to day to day and non-motor claims handling across various products.

    Requirements    

    • Matric
    • Computer Literacy (MS Word, Outlook and Excel)
    • Comfortable with Insurance Systems
    • Insurance qualification or studying towards
    • 60 FAIS credits
    • RE exams for representatives
    • At least 5 years of experience
    • Intensive knowledge of Commercial insurance products and complex claims

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Handling /settling non-motor own damage claims in accordance with applicable policies and standard operating procedures
    • Handling and settling claims within stipulated time frames and as per SLA’s and mandates in place
    • Entering into settlement negotiations with clients/Brokers on behalf of Underwriters
    • Negotiating with various claims assessors and other related service providers
    • Providing Clients/ Brokers with the highest standard of service
    • Providing Clients / Brokers with feedback on claim progress at all times
    • Ensuring diary system is implemented and adhered to at all times
    • Rendering of assistance from time to time with adhoc tasks
    • Maintaining and updating reserves
    • Attending to payment requests
    • Managing outstanding claims volumes
    • Timely responses to email and telephonic messages
    • Accurate record keeping
    • Proper time keeping and task prioritization/ management
    • Attending to any other tasks as may be assigned from time to time
    • Provide a supervisory function over a defined area within the claims department which shall include among others;
    • Providing technical advice to the area where required;

    Actuarial Specialist: Pricing (Life)

    Role Purpose    

    • You’ll play a key role at Guardrisk, collaborating with clients and internal teams to review and sign off on new and evolving products and pricing. The role involves technical pricing across a range of life insurance products, as well as deal structuring, client engagement, and tackling complex business problems.

    Requirements    

    • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science
    • Qualified or nearly qualified actuary (FASSA or internationally recognised equivalent, or on track to attain fellowship within 18 months)
    • At least 3 years’ experience in the life insurance industry
    • Experience in a pricing role preferred

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Assist with the pricing of new and existing group and individual life insurance products
    • Develop technical pricing models with a focus on life insurance products
    • Assist with reviewing new products in line with regulatory and professional guidelines
    • Assist with the structuring of new products and deals
    • Engage clients and internal stakeholders on technical matters
