    Category Lead - Chocolate, South Africa

    How you will contribute

    • Working with other internal stakeholders, you will determine the priorities to enable consumer-centric brand portfolio growth.
    • You will develop annual plans, setting objectives and allocating resources. 
    • In addition, you will offer recommendations for integrated commercial plans execute category marketing plans that deliver on revenue and profit forecasts, sharing objectives and monitoring performance, and delivering results over the Annual Contract and for the longer-term horizon (Strategic Plan for next 3 years, Vision 2030).
    • Based on your deep consumer insights and brand positioning, you will develop and implement integrated marketing communications and 360-degree campaigns.

    Senior Brand Manager, Gum Category, South Africa

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the brand management for Stimorol & Clorets, whilst overseeing the brand management of Chappies & Dentyne by the Brand Manager
    • Lead the development of the annual gum brand plans, aligned to the long term Gum Strategy to meet annual growth targets for the category
    • Challenge all aspects of the marketing mix in terms of understanding and awareness of consumer and customer trends and their impact on category strategy and plans
    • Manage the execution of marketing and activation plans, working closely with internal stakeholders and external partner agencies to deliver the revenue, profit and share objectives
    • Ensure cross functional integration and alignment of the category brand plans with Sales (Category Planning & KAM), Consumer Insights, Supply, Logistics and Finance
    • Work with global and local teams to ensure sustainable sourcing supply model for gum portfolio
    • Collaborate with the Equity & Innovation teams to develop insight led and strategically relevant communication and innovation plans that drive brand health and category growth
    • Lead, motivate and develop skills/capabilities of the Brand Team (1 Brand Manager report)

    Financial Management:

    • Brand & SKU P&L responsibility and accountability for delivering annual contract targets through day-to-day execution of brand plans, whilst recommending and implementing corrective actions to optimize effectiveness and profitability
    • Monitor and measure business performance for the specific brand against a set of KPIs including: volume, revenue, profit, A&C (Advertisement & Consumer Spending), net contribution, and share of market
    • Manage marketing spend budgets including phasing, balancing and reporting to finance team 
    • Provide quality input into supply forecasting for the category:
    • Under the guidance of the Category Lead, the Category Senior Brand Manager is responsible for collaborating to determine the volume targets for their brand/s and subsequent monitoring volume achievement and inventory levels for the brands
    • Market landscape dissecting and understanding:
    • Drive the analysis of market information (incl Market trends, Nielsen, Mintel, Euromonitor, etc) to contribute to the discussion on category/brands share performance and have action orientated plans
    • Evaluate executions, innovation, pricing, distribution, competitors, portfolio etc. against set targets and report on the ROI
    • Track ongoing pricing activities (for both brand and competitor) within the market place and provide an understanding of opportunities and risks existing in the local market
    • Firm understanding of trade marketing and in-store execution to ultimately guide on priorities and drive execution on brands

    External & Internal Key Interfaces

    • Internal:  Global Gum Brand team, Customer Planning & Activations, Category Finance, Sales, Equity & Innovation, Supply, R&D and Insights
    • External:  Creative, Digital, Media, PR and Activation agencies

    Knowledge & Skills

    Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

    To succeed in this role, it is expected that the ideal candidate will have:

    • Relevant tertiary degree or diploma – Marketing or related.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience, having worked in a similar environment / role with at least 24 months experience as a Senior Brand Manager
    • FMCG experience advantageous
    • Knowledge and experience:  Consumer, Shopper and Trade Insights / Marketing Planning and Budget Management
    • Demonstrated experience in applying strategic insights and translating strategies into executional plans
    • Demonstrated experience in managing a 360-marketing campaign from ideation to execution
    • Proven ability to manage / lead and collaborate with cross functional teams
    • Strong digital background advantageous
    • Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the core principles of marketing, project management experience and sales
    • Ability to manage projects without significant management support
    • Ability to build strategic and collaborative working relationships across the business
    • Strong level of financial acumen is necessary

    How you will contribute

    • Manage all accounting and external reporting matters for your assigned country, including ensuring accurate and timely U.S. GAAP reporting and the timeliness and integrity of statutory financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and KPIs. You will also provide insights into balance sheet movements and cash flow and ensure account reconciliations, intercompany charges, fixed assets, and restructuring are signed off for your assigned country

    • Drive for harmonization, efficiencies and improvements to ways of working on AER processes and systems such as SAP and build a mindset of continuous improvement in the country team
    • Build a high-performing Accounting and External Reporting (AER) team (Mondelēz International employees and actively manage the relationship with Mondelēz International Digital Services/third party providers). Recruit and develop talent and drive our AER talent agenda in the country

    How you will contribute

    You will:

    • Be accountable for the Warehouse Operations Plan, Coordinate & Manage Receipt/ Issue/ Disposal of raw/packaging materials and finished good inventories in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Deliver Inventory accuracy objectives and ensure Operational requirements are consistently applied while complying to all boundaries & requirements on a regular basis. Provide appropriate and properly maintained Materials handling/ movement equipment and facility to ensure safe and efficient operations. Achieve AM-Autonomous maintenance and PM-Progressive maintenance Step completion goals for warehouse equipment & SGA teams to eliminate losses & downtime.

Manage and control the replenishment of stock at Distributor’s warehouses, analysis of inventory movements, to ensure inventory level in the supply chain is at manageable level, and no run or overstock situation and product freshness in the trade. Develop & implement overhead budgets to define cost boundaries for an efficient warehouse operation. Ensure cost targets are met via efficient utilization of equipment, workforce and utilities. Monitor and control materials wastage and variance to generate productivity savings.

    What you need to know about this position:

    • Plant Planning and Logistics forms a key element of the SQCDSM Agenda on the Port Elizabeth Site. The main purpose of this role is receiving and putting away raw materials and packaging in the storage bins and dispatching it to the production lines at the right time and the right quality to prevent production stoppages. This role will also be responsible to drive and contribute to the IL6S CBN deliverables.
