    Hospitality Intern - Somkhele

    Overview of duties

    • Gain practical experience by assisting with day-to-day operations and tasks within the department including;
    • Administrative tasks: Support administrative functions including purchasing of kitchen stock, assigning catering requests, drawing up menus, updating of cleaning rosters and cleaning schedules.
    • Taking refreshments to meeting rooms and clearing the meeting rooms of any items from the kitchen.
    • Prepare, cook, and serve hot and cold meals.
    • Preparing serving stations at AHRI canteen, Ilala and meeting rooms.

    Research Associate - Durban

    Overview of Duties

    • Develop a project plan in collaboration with the Peer Navigators, Social Scientists, the AHRI Principal Investigators and any other social science leads using the principles of Implementation Science.
    • Initiate, lead and manage interdisciplinary projects and initiatives for implementation research to generate the evidence needed to inform policies and guidelines for implementing or scaling up innovations for transition readiness for young children infected with HIV, and who are currently on ART.
    • Incorporate innovative approaches to scientific investigations by adapting and/or developing original concepts and ideas for new, existing and to further implementation science research.
    • Develop new and apply existing concepts, theories, tools, and techniques in the area of implementation and evaluation research specifically in the virtual care settings. 
    • Contribute to and deliver projects conducted by the Health Implementation Science Team promoting the uptake of evidence-based solutions into routine care practice.

    Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

    • A PhD or MBChB in a relevant field such as health services research, medical/clinical sciences (medical doctor/clinician) public health, implementation science, or equivalent.
    • A valid driver's license with a minimum of two years driving experience.
    • Valid HPCSA registration.

    Minimum Experience

    • A minimum of 5-years' post community service experience (grade 2 medical officer).
    • Experience in specialized Pediatrics and the clinical management of PLHIV and CLHIV.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Implementation Science methods with application to innovations to improve point of care and patient health outcomes.
    • Familiar with methods to optimize data collection and use of patient, staff and clinician feedback to improve health [e.g., strategies for addressing patient/organization/system-level challenges to collecting data or feedback and/or use of informatics to support interventions and processes.
    • Familiar with patient engagement methods to advise and improve treatment planning including joint decision making.
    • In-depth knowledge of quantitative and qualitative scientific methods including design of data collection instruments and data analysis, using the selected IS theory, model or framework to serve as the key component in driving improvements in care.
    • Knowledge of information systems (e.g., CDS, EMRs, PHRs/patient-portals, RPM, and/or other health technologies) and methods of patient-reported outcome implementation, adoption and integration to improve healthcare.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Implementation Science methods with application to innovations to bring about improvements to patient care programmes.
    • Familiar with methods to optimize data collection and use of patient, staff and clinician feedback to improve health [e.g., strategies for addressing patient/organization/system-level challenges to collecting data or feedback and/or use of informatics to support interventions and processes.
    • Proven industry/research experience supporting health and research programs with experience in implementation science research.
    • At least 5 years’ experience as an HPCSA registered independent practitioner. 
    • Advantageous
    • Experience in clinical trials.

    Clinic Research Assistant - Mtubatuba

    Overview of duties

    • Implement the MONART Trial protocol
    • Collection of data
    • Support the provision of high-quality, comprehensive clinical care for research participants
    • Work in a multidisciplinary team and with Department of Health (DOH) staff to ensure good partnership between AHRI and DOH
    • Carry out any other duties as directed by the Line Manager

    Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Senior certificate (Grade 12).
    • Computer Literacy Certification (MS Office - Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
    • Fluency in English and Zulu.

    Minimum Experience

    • At least 2 years research experience in a clinical setting (hospital/clinic based research)
    • At least one year of clinical data capturing experience using DOH Health Information systems: TIER.net, HPRS, and DHIS.

    Advantageous

    • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification.
    • Clinical research experience or familiarity with clinical research data collection
    •  Code B/ EB Driver’s Licence
    • Knowledge of current health and public service legislation, regulations, and policies.
    • Ability to document information accurately and methodically.
    • Ability to work independently and show initiative.

    Biorepository Laboratory Technician - Durban

    Overview of Duties

    • Perform day to day laboratory functions including assembly of sample collection kits, processing, distribution and storage of specimens as well as ad hoc activities as indicated by the line manager or other senior lab manager.
    • Use of Laboratory Information Management system for logging of samples, generating labels, capturing of specimen locations and quality control and management of records and data.
    • Logistical co-ordination of clinical samples.
    • General housekeeping and maintenance of all laboratory and cryogenic equipment and facilities.
    • Compliance with Health and Safety and Company policies and procedures as well as GCLP/ISO15189 requirements.
    • Assist with developing, review and implementation of quality control and assurance procedures.
    • Assist with developing and review of SOPs, documents and workflows.

    Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

    • BSc/B Tech degree or equivalent qualification in Human/Medical Laboratory field.

    Minimum Experience

    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with human biological samples.
    • Experience and knowledge of PBMC and biological specimen processing techniques.
    • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems.
    • Experience working in ultra-low temperature storage facilities.
    • GCLP or ISO15189 certification will be advantageous.
    • Experience in a clinical research laboratory setting would be advantageous.
    • Valid Driver’s license with a minimum of2 years driving experience.

    Advantageous

    • BSL2 laboratory experience.
    • IATA certification.
    • Previous vaccination and immunity to Hepatitis B is highly advantageous.
    • A Citizen or SA Resident with current work permit.
