    SC Master Data Management Officer

    Job Description

    • You will be required to execute the creation process for all vendor types (excluding bank validations, sundry, and marketing vendors), which involves releasing questionnaires and providing assistance to ensure completion.

    More of your responsibilities will include:

    • Administering the release of registrations and approving them for potential vendors invited to participate in tenders
    • Collaborating with Treasury to review the accuracy of vendor banking details
    • Validating the accuracy of vendor data, including data interfacing with other systems
    • Developing and overseeing the vendor onboarding process, ensuring alignment of data
    • Implementing and managing a comprehensive training program for all vendors, keeping them informed of updated work methodologies
    • Facilitating the seamless integration of new online Master Data Management (MDM) forms into the system
    • Maintaining vendor records, ensuring annual updates or as needed (e.g., BEE credentials, VAT, contact details)
    • Conducting data clean up activities and identify as well as manage discrepancies in an efficient manner
    • Ensuring the Master Data Materials are linked to plants, timeously created, and maintained
    • Ensuring that Service codes are created, linked to Purchasing Organisation, timeously created and maintained
    • Effectively managing stakeholders by conducting relationship management, supporting the Manager and engaging with systems specialists to discover automation opportunities

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors ’s Degree in Operations management, Supply Chain management, Finance or a related field (NQF level 7)

    Experience

    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in supply chain or procurement with specific experience of master data governance and vendor management

    • Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, No 28 of 2002

    • Value-Added Tax Act, No 89 of 1991
    • Protection of Personal Information Act, No 4 of 2013
    • Proficient in using technology and systems relevant to the role i.e., SAP, Ariba and SNOW
    • Proficient knowledge of vendor management processes and principles
    • Emerging knowledge of the development and management of master data standards in SC systems
    • Emerging knowledge of the applicable VAT regulations and processes

    Section Engineer UG

    Job Description

    • To apply sound knowledge of engineering standards and principles to ensure the effective engineering and asset management of the section.

    Your key responsibilities will include: 

    • Consistently apply the Thungela Resources Safety Principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities and Loss Time Injuries in accordance with Thungela Resources Standards, and Mine Health and Safety Act, and other applicable legislation
    • Managerial authority to ensure that legal requirements, codes of practices, group standards, procedures and policies are updated, implemented, adhered to and that changes to legal requirements are communicated
    • Managerial and advisory authorities optimize planned maintenance in support of production targets through providing technical expertise to the mining operation teams and coordinate planned maintenance and major overhauls / shutdowns and investigating, monitoring, and eliminating causes of breakdowns
    • Managerial and advisory authority in effective people management, ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and that competencies and learning paths are developed to human capacity and capability
    • Managerial and monitoring authority in effective project management of engineering projects and Asset Optimization initiatives ensuring best practice research and knowledge sharing
    • Managerial authority in Financial Budgeting & Management
    • Managerial authority to effectively manage contractors and supplier relationships ensuring compliance with Thungela Resources standards
    • This role forms part of the Engineering Department at Band 6 level reporting to the Engineering Manager

    Qualifications

    • BSc/BEng/BTech/National Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
    • Government Certificate of Competence for Mines & Works (GCC).
    • Completed or in the process of completing a postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.
    • Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
    • Management Development Programme or equivalent.

    Experience and Knowledge:

    • Minimum 5 years' experience as an Underground Engineer
    • Good Knowledge of Equipment capabilities and practices
    • Knowledge of technical engineering aspects such as original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and South Africa Bureau of Standards
    • Flameproofing and Gas Testing Knowledge
    • Extensive knowledge of Underground Equipment, including Conveyors and Diesel Equipment within an Underground Coal Operation
    • Strong knowledge and application of Reliability Engineering and Asset Management principles
    • Understanding of engineering best practices and new technologies relating to engineering principles and processes
    • Coaching, mentoring, training, and developing subordinates

    Additional Information

    • Valid Certificate of Fitness.
    • Valid South African Driver’s license.
    • Computer literate
    • Knowledge of Relevant legislation
