    General Assistant (R&D)

    Job Description

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Operate a forklift or Hyster, subject to the required training and certification
    • Assist with transport testing
    • Capture, record and communicate transport-testing results using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Act as a liaison between R&D, Stores and other relevant operational departments
    • Assist with the identification, movement and scrapping of R&D products, materials and components
    • Support product benchmarking activities, including product movement, preparation, measurement and documentation.
    • Assist with prototype and non-critical product builds under the direction of the relevant engineer or specialist.
    • Assist with production-line and Bill of Materials audits, including steel and plastic material-consumption checks and line evaluations.
    • Provide driving and logistical support for audits, product collections, testing and other approved departmental activities.
    • Support the daily operational requests of the R&D squads and Cooking Construction team.
    • First Aid representative and Health and Safety representative, subject to departmental and company requirements.
    • This role operates within an agile environment; task priorities and responsibilities may be adjusted based on departmental needs and operational demands

    QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

    • Grade 12, relevant technical qualification and forklift license advantageous
    • BOM (Bill of Materials) familiarity advantageous
    • Minimum 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Strong computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite)
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Good attention to detail and organisational skills

    Finance Admin Assistant

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:  

    • Defy Finance, Port Elizabeth branch is looking for a dynamic and professional finance admin assistant. The person will be responsible for carrying out accounting, administrative and clerical support to all financial functions.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Coordinate administrative tasks efficiently.
    • Prepare waybills and parcels/ branch documents via courier to correct destinations.
    • Prepare purchase orders on request.
    • Assist Debtors team with PODs and queries.

    Responsible for the cash office which includes: -

    • Accurately generate receipts for Debit/Credit cards and EFT payments
    • Identify deposits on the DS and match to cash worklist.
    • Complete bank transit posting daily (Post to BIT account).
    • Maintain, keep up-to date and accurate finance administrative records and reports.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
    • Assist and prepare reconciliations for vendor accounts, process and manage creditors invoice in line of the SOP in place.
    • Handle queries related to creditors, cash accounts and customer refunds.
    • Support all month-end financial deadlines.
    • Assist in clearing of Agent Accrual GL
    • Process refunds in a timely manner aligned with the SOP in place.
    • Assist and manage daily finance admin operations at branch and liaise with various departments to ensure smooth operational processes.
    • Assist with all finance administrative duties at branch, which includes catering of meetings/issuing, maintaining and costing groceries & stationery efficiently.
    • All documentation is archived and filed according to the agreed filing protocols.
    • Ensure audit deliverables maintained according to the standard required by the auditors.
    • Any ad-hoc duties from time to time when assigned.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

    • Grade 12 + 3 years diploma in bookkeeping/accounting
    • Experience in Admin/Finance is advantagous
    • Proficiency in SAP and financial systems
    • Strong oraganizational skills with attention to detail
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks efficiently

    Senior Specialist – Production Planning

    PURPOSE:

    • The Senior Specialist – Production Planning is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing the master production schedule to ensure manufacturing output meets demand requirements while balancing capacity, material availability, and inventory targets.
    • The role acts as a key link between sales forecasting, materials management, and shop-floor operations to enable a smooth, cost-efficient production flow.

     KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) across product lines, aligning output with the demand plan and available capacity.
    • Translate the sales and operations plan (S&OP) into executable weekly and daily production schedules.
    • Monitor production capacity, identify constraints and bottlenecks, and propose corrective actions to protect schedule adherence.
    • Coordinate closely with materials, imports, and steel planning teams to ensure component and raw-material availability supports the production plan.
    • Manage finished-goods and work-in-progress inventory levels against agreed targets to avoid shortages and excess stock.
    • Track and report key planning metrics — schedule adherence, plan attainment, on-time output, and inventory turns — and drive continuous improvement.
    • Lead production-planning input into daily and weekly operations reviews, escalating risks to the Head – Materials.
    • Support new product introductions (NPI) and engineering changes by integrating them into production schedules.
    • Maintain accurate planning parameters in the ERP/MRP system (lead times, lot sizes, BOMs, routings).

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
    • Minimum 5 years of production-planning or materials-planning experience, preferably in a manufacturing or appliances/FMCG environment.
    • Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP) and advanced proficiency in Excel.
    • Solid understanding of S&OP, capacity planning, and inventory-management principles.
    • APICS/CPIM certification is an advantage.
