    Forester - Mooiplaas

    Description

    We are hiring!

    • We’re on the lookout for an experienced Forester to implement and achieve the operational estate management, targets for fibre production within resource and SHEQ parameters to ensure a sustainable fibre supply.

    As a Forester, you will be responsible for:

    • Prepare land & re-establish according to Planning’s recommendations for re-establishment (planting & coppice regeneration) to achieve Temporary Unplanted targets within budget constraints.
    • Manage the re-establishment to achieve maximum stocking within silvicultural standards.
    • Inspect operations regularly (at least weekly) to identify risks & ensure the timeous action (blanking & pest control, coppice management).
    • Ensure all operations comply with service level agreement.
    • Protect crops from weed competition, pests and diseases by regular field inspections & the timing of operations to achieve maximum yields within cost constraints.
    • Develop a pre-harvest plan and conduct a risk assessment per compartment in order to mitigate potential risks.
    • Conduct interim inspections to monitor and ensure adherence to safety and Mill quality specifications.
    • Ensure daily production targets are managed effectively and comply with legislative and company policies & procedures.
    • Identify and ensure road & depot/sidings maintenance plans are communicated and implemented effectively.
    • Use Fire Risk Management System (FRMS) to identify risks, record & implement fire control procedures.
    • Implement the Annual Plan of Operations for both commercial and open areas, and ensure operations comply with standards and service level agreements.
    • Ensure that company assets such as buildings, villages and company houses are maintained & managed effectively according to set standards within budget constraints.
    • Ensure that the vehicle fleet is maintained & managed according to the lease agreement, Sappi guidelines & budget. Ensure that relations with communities, other internal and external stakeholders are effectively maintained and managed in order to ensure company image is upheld, risks mitigated and relationships enhanced.
    • Ensure that a professional relationship with the contractor is maintained and that quality, delivery and compliance standards as set out in the job instruction system and service level agreement are adhered to.
    • Ensure that contractor shifts are balanced to match the annual plan of operations, the contract is viable, and risks mitigated accordingly.

    What are we looking for?

    •  National Diploma in Forestry or Agriculture or Horticulture
    • Up to 1 year relevant experience.
    • Valid driver’s license.

    Valuations Specialist

    Description

    • Sappi Southern Africa is seeking an accomplished Valuation Specialist to join our Forestry Division — a role central to safeguarding the financial integrity of one of the world’s most respected sustainable forestry businesses.
    • You will lead the valuation of our biological assets, manage complex lease portfolios, and guide key financial processes that underpin strategic decision‑making across the organisation. This is an opportunity to influence high‑level reporting, strengthen governance, and contribute to a business deeply committed to sustainability, innovation, and long‑term value creation.

    The main responsibilities of this job are:

    Plantation Valuation

    • Lead the quarterly valuation of Sappi’s extensive biological assets.
    • Ensure full compliance with IAS 41 and IFRS 13.
    • Prepare detailed audit files, perform analytical reviews, and deliver valuation insights to senior leadership.

    IFRS 16 Lease Management

    • Oversee IFRS 16 lease accounting across Sappi Southern Africa.
    • Assess new lease agreements, quantify financial impacts, and manage all related accounting entries, reconciliations, and disclosures.

    Sundry Debtor Management

    • Manage the Forestry Division’s sundry billing and debtor processes.
    • Oversee customer account creation, review ageing analyses, ensure billing accuracy, and drive timely collections to support divisional cash flow.

    Fixed Asset Management

    • Maintain accurate and compliant fixed asset records.
    • Perform reconciliations between the asset register and general ledger.
    • Oversee physical asset verifications, monitor CAPEX, and ensure adherence to company policies and accounting standards.

    Team Leadership

    • Lead and mentor the divisional cash book, sundry debtors, and office reception teams.
    • Set performance expectations, provide coaching, and ensure operational excellence and adherence to organisational standards.

    The ideal candidate should have:

    • Honours degree in Finance, Accounting, Auditing, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in forestry valuation or biological asset valuation aligned to IAS 41 in advantageous.
    • Strong working knowledge of IFRS 16 lease management.
    • Demonstrated leadership or team management experience.
    • Exceptional analytical ability with strong attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.

    Administration Clerk - Khulisa

    • We’re on the lookout for an Administration Clerk - Khulisa to provide an efficient administrative support that would ensure Khulisa is optimally and efficiently run and ensure that the administrative functions in the relevant area are effectively overseen and maintained      

    As an Administration Clerk - Khulisa, you will be responsible for:.

    • Facilitate & manage booking of training courses using Khulisa calendar system for the Khulisa regional offices to ensure offices are run efficiently and being utilized to their full capacity.
    • Keep an up to date booking system of the training centres and facilities by making external and internal training facilitators book the facility and resources in advance to ensure the centre/s are in a ready state of utilization
    • Managing attendance registers from Facilitators making sure registers are correctly filled in to capture all training interventions on Learning Management System (LMS) and on our Training database to ensure we have accurate number of Growers and Contractors and evaluate if training was effective.
    • Oversee housekeeping and catering services at all training centers making sure facilitators and trainees are well catered for within budget limitations to ensure conducive learning environment.
    • Keep records of the utilisation of the training centres by updating the centre calendar; track training offered; update training register with proper trainee documentation etc. to substantiate costs and demonstrate need.
    • Monitor and regularly assess quality of service delivered by service contractor by conducting interim audits and inspections to ensure Sappi standards are achieved.
    • Initiate RFP process on systems for new/renewal contract requests by - screen information received for correctness and accuracy; upload the contract information packs from service providers onto system to ensure that no business transaction occurs without a legal agreement in place
    • Ensure invoices are submitted within 30 days upon request of order number by the requestor and finalize the transaction on SAP for payment so that costs are submitted within the same month of the transaction.
    • Make accommodation and flights reservations for Khulisa Management and Staff liaise with Sappi travel agents viz. Seekers, monitor and control travel and accommodation cost and support the Khulisa team in arranging accommodation on their behalf.
    • Conduct recorded monthly safety inspections of the training facilities and equipment/s refer to RMS for checklists to achieve zero accidents/injuries through enforcement of adherence to Sappi safely standards
    • Manage company assets and use thereof by keeping an up to date assets register through log inventory register and conduct regular recorded asset/s inspections housekeeping by doing regular visit at the training centres and updating to control all Ulwazi assets and stocks.
    • Assist Managers with putting together monthly reports by consolidating and editing the report document/s to ensure effective communication to senior management.

    What are we looking for?

    • Grade 12
    • An Administrative related qualification preferable
    • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience
    • Strong computer literacy (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
    • SAP knowledge an advantage
    • Valid Code EB Drivers license
