    Senior Lecturer

    SENIOR LECTURER

    Minimum Requirements

    • Doctoral Degree or equivalent NQF level 10 qualification in Engineering, with an undergraduate qualification in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
    • At least 5 years of teaching/professional experience.
    • Evidence of research and postgraduate supervision, with at least 3 DHET-accredited publications in the past 3 years.
    • Experience in General Power Systems, High Voltage Engineering, Electrical Machines, and Engineering Design.
    • Additional requirements
    • Good communication and lecturing skills.
    • A strong passion for teaching and research.
    • Professional registration with ECSA.
    • Good research track record or relevant research experience and an ability and desire to advance research development in the department.
    • Eligible to start applying for the NRF rating.
    • Evidence of some external funding.
    • Able to lecture on subjects of Power Electronics, Electromagnetic Field Theory, Electrical Machines, Power Systems, and/ or High Voltage Engineering

    Summary of Duties

    • Teaching, assessing, and supervising at all relevant levels.
    • Responsible for at least two modules per semester in accordance with fair workload distribution. This may include one B Eng Tech Honours level module, a semester after hours (part-time) once a week.
    • Development of learning materials and subject files for different courses.
    • Supervise B Eng Tech and B Eng Tech Honours projects and be actively involved in research and/or post-graduate supervision in the department.
    • Assist with administrative and other duties as prescribed by the Head of Department or representative as delegated.
    • To serve as chair of a specialty area on a rotational basis.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • A Master’s Degree in Homoeopathy;
    • At least 3 year clinical experience in homoeopathic practice;

    Senior Lecturer- Durban

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • A Doctoral Degree in Homeopathy or equivalent
    • A Master’s Degree in Homoeopathy;
    • Five (5) years’ experience in higher education

    • Demonstrate scholarship of teaching and must have produced/ published in the preceding three years three publication units (e.g. accredited book, chapter in a book, accredited creative output, patent, review article, journal article, peer-reviewed conference proceedings, etc.) in the preceding three years.
    • Supervision of at least one postgraduate student at Masters’ level.
    • Specialised knowledge in homeopathic pharmacy and/or medical diagnostics;
    • Registration with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA) as a Homoeopath.

    A candidate must show proof of having been recognised as an excellent teacher as evidenced by:

    • Exceptional knowledge of his or her subject matter/discipline.
    • Excellent classroom and tutorial performance.
    • Effective utilization of innovative teaching and assessment methods.
    • Very good communication and human relations skills.
    • Excellent performance as an academic advisor who encourages active learning among students and staff.

    • The Durban University of Technology (DUT) is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Psychologist to provide professional psychological counselling, assessment, and mental health support services to students.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Master's Degree in Psychology (Counselling, Clinical, or Educational Psychology) at NQF Level 9.
    • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Psychologist.
    • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in providing psychological counselling and assessment services.

    KNOWLEDGE OF:

    • Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA);

    Senior Lecturer- Economics

    SENIOR LECTURER 

    Minimum Academic requirements

    • PhD/D-Tech and undergraduate qualification majoring in Economics
    • At least 5 years lecturing experience in Economics, at University level
    • Senior academic experience within a University context
    • Active participation in professional, industry and or community activities
    • Evidence of successful postgraduate supervision, at master's and/or PhD level.
    • Should be an established researcher. Demonstrate evidence of continuous research in the form of publications in DHET accredited journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings, research papers presented at national and/or international conferences; contributions to scholarly books published by reputable publishers, in good standing with DHET and not linked to predatory practices.
    • A proven track record of research with having produced/published at least a research output in the preceding three years
    • Evidence of external examining/moderating at other higher education institutions at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
    • All of the above have to be consistent with the University’s Staff Promotions Policy

    Recommendation

    • NRF rating would be considered an added advantage for Senior Lecturer. 
    • Preference will be given to candidates that meet the Senior Lecturer level criteria.

    LECTURER

    Minimum Academic requirements

    • Master’s degree and undergraduate qualification majoring in Economics
    • At least 3 years teaching experience in Economics at University level
    • Teaching and record of research publications in accredited journals would be a strong recommendation
    • Preference will be given to applicants who are registered for a PhD

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Knowledge or proficiency in statistical software packages such as Stata, and/or R, Eviews, Matlab will be an added advantage for both Senior Lecturer and Lecturer positions.
    • Demonstrate innovative thinking towards teaching and learning
    • Availability to work at other DUT campuses, in the evenings and weekends and sometimes away from home
    • Conduct teaching, learning and assessment using a blended mode
    • For the Lecturer position it is recommended that a candidate is at an advanced level of completing a PhD
