    Transport Manager - Mpumalanga

    Description

    We are hiring!

    • We’re on the lookout for an experienced Transport Manager to effectively manage and control the transport and loading  fleet in order to ensure the rateable supply of timber to various regional markets

    As a Transport Manager, you will be responsible for:

    • Plan daily weekly and monthly transport and loading requirements according to sales plan
    • Assess daily haulage/delivery performance against planned schedule
    • Ensure that vehicles are dispatched by monitoring actual deliveries against daily plan
    • Assess availability and uptime of trucks
    • Assess depot stocks to ensure stock rotation is accounted for when planning operations
    • Conduct regular route and depot inspections to ensure all required standards are adhered to
    • Plan future route and depot requirements with the Forester and Roads Engineer as per Harvesting APO
    • Promote safety amongst transport and Contractors according to Sappi’s safety standards
    • Liaise with DOT/RTMS regarding route conditions and special permits
    • Monitors the efficient running of the approved contracts/agreements
    • Ensure that fleet optimisation is based on route leads, depot stocks and mill requirement
    • Compile reports as required by the business

    What are we looking for?

    • National Diploma in Logistic/Transport and/or a Forestry related qualification
    • Bachelor’s degree would be advantageous
    • Up to 5 years relevant experience
    • Valid EB (Code 8) driver’s License

    As a Health Practitioner, you will be responsible for:

    Occupational Health

    • Monitor employee health, implement remedial actions, and correct deviations.
    • Ensure compliance with legal requirements relating to occupational health and safety.
    • Identify and control occupational and environmental hazards through continuous assessment and preventative measures.
    • Manage adverse health effects arising from workplace conditions, including work-related injuries, illness, rehabilitation, reintegration, and compensation.

    • Provide employee training and education relevant to workplace health and safety risks.

    Primary Health Care

    • Deliver a Primary Health Care programme to employees, including:

    • Family planning, vaccination, and immunisation programmes.
    • Monitoring chronic conditions and facilitating access to medication.
    • Health education initiatives.
    • Providing non-occupational emergency medical support.

    Clinic Management

    • Provide professional health and wellbeing advice to line management.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of health policies and procedures, ensuring legal compliance.
    • Build and maintain constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ensure accurate, timely reporting of occupational health issues.
    • Maintain quality data collection, benchmarking, analysis, and reporting.
    • Manage clinic budgets responsibly.

    Forester - Bulwer

    • We’re on the lookout for an experienced Forester to implement and achieve the operational estate management, targets for fibre production within resource and SHEQ parameters to ensure a sustainable fibre supply.

    As a Forester, you will be responsible for:

    • Prepare land & re-establish according to Planning’s recommendations for re-establishment (planting & coppice regeneration) to achieve Temporary Unplanted targets within budget constraints.
    • Manage the re-establishment to achieve maximum stocking within silvicultural standards.
    • Inspect operations regularly (at least weekly) to identify risks & ensure the timeous action (blanking & pest control, coppice management).
    • Ensure all operations comply with service level agreement.
    • Protect crops from weed competition, pests and diseases by regular field inspections & the timing of operations to achieve maximum yields within cost constraints.
    • Develop a pre-harvest plan and conduct a risk assessment per compartment in order to mitigate potential risks.
    • Conduct interim inspections to monitor and ensure adherence to safety and Mill quality specifications.
    • Ensure daily production targets are managed effectively and comply with legislative and company policies & procedures.
    • Identify and ensure road & depot/sidings maintenance plans are communicated and implemented effectively.
    • Use Fire Risk Management System (FRMS) to identify risks, record & implement fire control procedures.
    • Implement the Annual Plan of Operations for both commercial and open areas, and ensure operations comply with standards and service level agreements.
    • Ensure that company assets such as buildings, villages and company houses are maintained & managed effectively according to set standards within budget constraints.
    • Ensure that the vehicle fleet is maintained & managed according to the lease agreement, Sappi guidelines & budget. Ensure that relations with communities, other internal and external stakeholders are effectively maintained and managed in order to ensure company image is upheld, risks mitigated and relationships enhanced.
    • Ensure that a professional relationship with the contractor is maintained and that quality, delivery and compliance standards as set out in the job instruction system and service level agreement are adhered to.
    • Ensure that contractor shifts are balanced to match the annual plan of operations, the contract is viable, and risks mitigated accordingly.

    What are we looking for?

    • National Diploma in Forestry or Agriculture or Horticulture
    • Up to 1 year relevant experience.
    • Valid driver’s license.

    • Ensures that all modifications/projects conform fully to Mill Change Management Procedures, Mill Standard Specifications, Mill Safety Standards, and the OHS Act

    • Explore quality products at reduced costs in the event of replacement
    • Fault-finding malfunctions of field devices and system components with the aid of electrical drawings and test equipment
    • Proficiency in specialist areas such as BQS, BCU, PLCs, VFD’s, HV and LV reticulation and Protection Equipment, Power Generator, and Auxiliary Equipment
    • Provides on-going training to personnel to perform specific tasks on new equipment, completed projects, and maintenance of equipment. Operator training (limitations due to system interlocks/sequences explained).
    • Manages varied multi-disciplinary plant modifications/project work from concept to commissioning and closeout

    What are we looking for?

    • National Diploma or B Tech in Electrical Engineering
    • 5 years of industrial experience in PLC / Profibus, knowledge and experience in heavy industrial electrical equipment and systems
    • Project Management Experience
    • Supervisory experience
