The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and coordinating community engagement activities that support the implementation of USINGA research studies by introducing these studies to the local community, educating the local community about research studies, incorporating the local community’s views, improving participation and retention of participants in research studies, as well as coordinating translations services for research purposes. The position will be full-time and based at our Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) site.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
NQF Level 7(Advanced Diploma)or Bachelor-related qualification in demography/population studies, health, education, or social science.
Fluency in IsiZulu and English
At least years of experience in community engagement, especially in a research setting.
Extensive knowledge of how local government works in the eThekwini Municipality, especially in UMlazi.
Knowledge of civil leadership protocol
Up-to-date comprehensive knowledge of demographic and health interventions, especially for prevention and treatment.
Knowledge of ethical issues in community-based research.
Experience in training, communication, and people management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of a team of fieldworkers doing quantitative data collection within USINGA. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting field-based quality control checks; providing logistical support; resolving all problems encountered in the field; and conducting training and monitoring performance to ensure the timeous collection of data of the highest quality standards in a cost-effective and ethical manner. The position will be full-time and based at our Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) site.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Senior Certificate/ certificate in surveillance data collection
At least 3 years experience as a Fieldwork Supervisor in an HDSS
Ability to supervise and train fieldworkers
Knowledge of quantitative research data collection methods
Understanding of project operations including project planning and ethical conduct of research
Good knowledge of the HDSS operations and study forms
The successful candidate will be responsible for USINGA spatial analysis tasks and provide GIS services across all projects; including production of maps, as well as coordination of collection and management of spatial data of the highest quality standards in a costeffective manner. The position will be full-time and based at our Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) site.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in GIS Systems; and Certificates in vector GIS computerpackages and in Microsoft SQL query writing
Valid driver’s license
Fluency in IsiZulu and English
At least 5 years of experience working with vector GIS Software and differential GPS
Experience working with Microsoft Access database, writing queries in Microsoft SQL, differential GPS, and Pathfinder GPS application
Experience with systems for geographic co-ordinates
