    Research Assistant - Elsenburg (Elsenburg)

    Description

    • Performs routine activities under supervision.
    • Assists in coordinating of work activities and supervises allocated HR resources.
    • Provides research support, diagnostics, and other services.
    • Collects data
    • Utilises and maintains own facilities, material and equipment.

    Requirements

    Description

    • Demand Planning: Collaborating with various departments and stakeholders to understand their requirements and forecast demand for goods and services.
    •  Analysing historical data, market trends, and business needs to develop accurate demand forecasts and plans.
    • Strategic Sourcing: Developing and executing procurement strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
    • Evaluating potential suppliers and negotiating contracts to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of goods and services.

    Requirements

    • A Postgraduate qualification in Business Administration will be advantageous.
    • Experience with managing/supervising teams.
    • Experience in end-to-end SCM lifecycle and proven track record of SCM process efficiencies and effectiveness.

    Supply Chain Accountant (24 Months Fixed Term Contract) (Central Office Hatfield)

    Description

    • Coordinate and manage the end-to-end Supply Chain Process for ARC, including procurement, adherence to supply chain policies, and compliance with PFMA and PPPFMA.
    • Manage the Procurement Function at the campus level, encompassing the procurement of goods and services, supplier liaison, obtaining quotations, and guiding specification development.
    • Negotiate contracts and ensure contract administration in alignment with procurement policy. Also, source, manage, and maintain the Institute Supplier Database.
    • Implement cost management strategies by applying best sourcing practices to optimize procurement expenses.
    • Provide direct support to the research function, including the evaluation of supplier performance. Ensure internal control compliance to prevent financial irregularities.
    • Evaluate quotations and tenders in accordance with PFMA, PPFFA, and Treasury Regulations, ensuring compliance with procurement rules and regulations.
    • Manage the procurement process in adherence to SCM policy and regulations. Provide procurement guidance to business units and management to facilitate efficient and cost-effective procurement practices.
    • Administer tenders, provide inputs for the budget, and represent the Institute at tender committees. Manage the Inventory function, optimising inventory levels, and coordinating stocktaking.
    • Address and mitigate risks related to Procurement and Inventory Management to maintain operational continuity.

    Requirements

    • A National Diploma in Supply Chain Management/ Logistics/ Purchasing /Public Administration or related field.
    • 3 years of experience in Supply Chain Management or Procurement.
    • B Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field will be advantageous.
    • Experience in a research environment in general will be an added advantage.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • The ability to establish & maintain working relationship with others, of PFMA, PPPFA Act, Treasury Regulations, PPP2022 and other relevant legislation.
    • Professional Membership with CIPS will be an added advantage.

    Description

    • Providing legal advice and support to stakeholders as and when required.
    • Reviewing and update CARA and PDALA legislation.

    Research Team Manager: Soil Science (Readvertisement) (Pretoria)

    Description

    • Initiation, management and implementation of national/international research and innovation projects within the area of responsibility of their research team.
    • Providing leadership across specialised research fields and value chains.

    Requirements

    • PhD in Soil Science.
    • At least 8-10 years’ post-PhD experience.
    • At least 8-10 years’ experience in the management of research teams.
    • Minimum of 20 peer-reviewed publications.
    • Proven research and managerial track record in Soil Science.           
    • Proven experience in attracting externally funded projects, and networking with national/international clients and stakeholders.
    • Financial and personnel management, marketing and negotiation skills.
    • Scientific leadership and mentoring skills.
    • NRF rating would be an added advantage.
    • Registration with a scientific or professional body would be an added advantage.
    • Candidate should demonstrate ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural research team.
    • Good communication skills (written and verbal).

    Description

    • Write publications/present research outcomes and compile popular publications and newsletters.
    • The incumbent will also be required to be involved in general laboratory operations and the training and supervision of students.
    • Maintain genetic material for conservation purposes (seed collection and maintenance).
