    Operator Side wall Assistant

    Job Description

    • Be able to operate the machine efficiently with minimum spoilage and no quarantines
    • Carry out laid-down quality checks to specification and correct frequencies
    • Record findings as per laid down inspection instructions
    • Check daily on production requirement
    • Report any shortfall or defective materials to superior for action by the latter
    • Assist with minor technical duties during maintenance change overs and breakdowns
    • Ensure compliance in production area and equipment

    Job Requirements

    • Sound knowledge of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Operations would be advantageous.
    • High level of quality and safety awareness.
    • Must be able to visually distinguish differences in colour.
    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Experience in working on the Side Wall machine will be an advantage.
    • Be able to work under pressure.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels
    • Excellent administration skills with attention to detail

    Job Description

    • Supervise activities of a beverage Can Manufacturing line to achieve EMU, Quality, Spoilage and Cost Optimization objectives
    • Ensuring full compliance of Safety and Environmental Objectives in line with ISO 14001, ISO22000 and OSHAS 18001 programs in the operation
    • Support line to ensure that all Cans produced adhere to set quality standards
    • Achieve efficiency and spoilage targets in order to produce cost effective cans
    • Machine availability and lost time is within target - Autonomous maintenance
    • Manage usage of material, consumables and labour within the set standards in order to control operating costs
    • Attract, retain and develop talent in order to ensure availability of requisite skills and delivery of results

    Job Requirements

    • 5 years post-apprenticeship/In-service Training experience in manufacturing

    Operator Piler Machine

    Job Description

    • Correct stillage boards and water proof paper on top of boards used;
    • Setting up pilers to ensure neat stacking of tinplate
    • Removing jams quickly to ensure minimum production time lost
    • Checking causes of poor stacking
    • Correcting stillage tickets placed in each completed stillage
    • Stillage number, coil number and quantities on stillage tickets are written
    • Any additional information as required from time to time, is written on stillage ticket
    • Re-stacking of badly stacked tinplate done without delay and before end of shift
    • Information should be written down on tally sheet at console of each coil complete
    • Changeovers should be done on pilers
    • Index variation should be checked to see if there is a variation
    • Ensuring that plate is not damaged in a piler such as being bent against back jogger
    • Checking for damaged edges and damaged corners carried out
    • Ensuring protective equipment is worn at all times, i.e. ear muffs and gloves
    • Ensuing gloves are worn at all times when shearing T.F.S. material
    • Work area should be kept clean and tidy at all times
    • Assistance is rendered with additional duties from time to time as requested by Superior.

    Job Description

    • Implement continuous improvement to quantitatively improve quality, efficiencies, cost and service delivery, using 6 Sigma, 5S, Lean, OEE and others.
    • Monitor and analyse process performance in all operations.
    • Action and execute projects with focus on loss and waste analysis, design and implementation of the best practice process in the operation.
    • Implement change management initiatives form divisional level down to site level to support a culture that embraces change.
    • Risk management by identifying potential implementation related risk and incorporate a mitigation plan to reduce the overall effect.
    • Develop and track standardized process implementation for project planning and execution.
    • Train and educate stakeholders.
    • Responsible for categories of OEE opportunity identification, including tracking; downtime results, data integrity and developing improvement plans.
    • Support safety as a top priority in all areas, including; training, job design, ergonomics and ensure regulatory compliance.
    • Maintains system for “right first time” performance and live this philosophy in the continuous improvement teams.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering
    • A post graduate diploma in manufacturing and experience in 6 Sigma, will be an added advantage
    • 2 – 5 years’ experience in the relevant field in a manufacturing environment
    • Strong ability and knowledge to manage projects
    • Sound knowledge of problem solving methodologies

    Senior Chemical Process Technician

    Job Description

    • Ensure that CPT’s Conduct daily chemical checks using standard laboratory equipment and conduct mechanical inspections
    • Ensure that calibrations on equipment are done
    • Check cans on turnover for cleanliness, dryness and damage, feed fallen cans from transfer and turnover back into infeed; removing damaged or stained
    • Ensure treatment stage is in control as per pasteurized product specifications
    • Perform planned maintenance as per schedule as well as when line condition allows such actions

    • Audit Sodium Hypo chloride and Free Chlorine levels
    • Monitor stage overflows and backflows
    • Monitor SPC trends on datalyzer and conduct corrective and preventative actions

    • Monitor if area spill kits are complete

    Job Requirements

    • Must have Matric or N3 certificate and a B-Tech in Chemical Engineering or Analytical Chemistry

    • Have the ability to function well under pressure
    • Must have a good statistical quality control background and process understanding

    Junior OPS Engineer Metal Forming - (JNR-OPS)

    Job Description
    Main Objectives

    • Support the plant with refurbishing of specialized tooling and precision machining. As well as to assisting the plants to identify improvement opportunities to optimize efficiencies. 
    • Refurbishments and Rebuilds
    • Understand plants tooling refurbishments requirement.
    • Draw up and manage the refurbishment schedule
    • Prioritize refurbishments depending on urgency and operational requirement
    • Ensuring quality refurbishments, carried out on time, in full and according to OEM specification.
    • Oversee the tooling flow (correct parts to correct plant).

    Output production support

    • Advising on tooling set up best practice. 
    • Coaching and mentoring teams and providing expert tooling advice.
    • Take action to overcome any problems related to the processes
    • Conduct trials as required.  Evaluate and report findings.
    • Introduce procedures as required to maintain efficiency, quality, performance levels and reduce costs

    Focused Improvement

    • Communication and feedback on tooling faults found, with potential preventative measures, and improvement opportunities.
    • Complaints investigation and follow through. RCA to understand the root cause, corrective and preventative action.
    • Assisting the plants to identify improvement opportunities to improve on tooling life and cost saving (e.g. nonadherence to standards and operating practices (e.g. grinding, setting, maintenance set ups).
    • Writing SOPs and assist plant to follow SOPs and to save cost in the long run though ideal handling.
    • Provide systematic technical support on root cause analysis and problem solving on major/repetitive failures on operations following a structured problem-solving approach (e.g., DMAIC, 5Why)
    • Recording and documentation of analysis, improvements, and new standards.
    • Quality
    • Ensure compliance to all Bevcan - Quality and Food safety policies and procedures in accordance with FSSC 22000 and ISO 9001

    Asset Care

    • In conjunction with the Plant Personnel, ensure all maintenance procedures are up to date on equipment.
    • Assist Plants to investigate and rectify recurring problems through RCA

    Manpower training

    • Assist in assessing training needs
    • Provide coaching support.
    • Work with Plant and Bevtech in identifying opportunity for skills development
    • Provide guidance to L&D to develop training.
    • Develop and produce SOP’s
    • Safety

    Contribute towards development and updating of Safe Work Procedures.

    • Ensure SHEQ and OHSACT compliance and effective risk identification and management through effective use of BBS and safety meetings
    • Job Requirements
    • Physically fit and healthy to perform physically challenging functions, sometimes for long hours, and under pressure.

    Extensive travel around and outside the country to give support to all Bevcan Operations.
