    Mechanician: Instrumentation

    As an Instruments Mechanician, you will be responsible for:

    • Installs, commissions, modifies and maintains instrument
    • installations and DCS equipment by the application of engineering expertise and skills in order to satisfy Engineering and Production standards and requirements.
    • Optimises by loop tuning, investigates and fault-finds process controls systems (DCS) by the application of engineering skills, process plant and process control knowledge so as to maintain performance requirements of such systems.
    • Removes defective instruments from system, decontaminates, disassembles, and cleans instruments, and replaces defective parts, using hand tools.
    • Reassembles instruments and replaces instruments in system, using hand tools.
    • Calibrates readings on instruments according to standards and adjusts phasing and aligns stages to ensure accuracy of recording and indicating function.
    • Records calibrations made, parts and components used, and inventory of parts on hand.
    • Prepares schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments, circuits, and systems.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
    • Required to work standby and overtime as required.
    • Understands the SHEQ requirements of the Section.
    • Monitor subordinate’s performance against SHEQ requirements
    • and corrects non-conformances.
    • Investigates incidents (SHEQ) and identify root causes of Non Conformances and corrects deviations.
    • Maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all time.

    What are we looking for?

    • Full N3
    • Instrument Trade Test Certificate.
    • Minimum 3 years’ plant operations experience .
    • Computer Literate (MS Office Package)
    • SAP knowledge will be advantageous.

    Reliability Engineer Electrical

    As a Reliability Engineer - Electrical , you will be responsible for:

    • Professionally and systematically defines designs, develops, monitors, and refines the asset maintenance plan that includes value-added preventive maintenance.
    • Effective utilisation of predictive, proactive, condition-based, and other non-destructive testing methods designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems.
    • Drive SAP maturity and ensure adherence to maintenance standards with special focus on asset utilisation, planning preparation and maintenance execution.
    • Undertake detailed analysis of the plant/assets to develop, drive strategies and recommendations that will improve the reliability and performance of the plant, systems, and maintenance effectiveness.
    • Collaborate with maintenance teams to develop, maintain, and compile asset reliability, criticality, and condition information necessary for the asset planning, delivery, and maintenance strategies.
    • Supply reliability status monthly reporting figures, analyse trends and develop improvement projects to address the issues of concern for continuous improvement.
    • Works with project engineers to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations and ensure adherence to the life cycle asset management process throughout the entire life cycle of new assets.
    • Responsible to guide maintenance, projects, and production towards the best practices to improve availability and reliability.
    • Drive maturity and adherence to regional shut management best practice strategy.
    • Assist with the coordination of annual, quarterly, and monthly outages by utilising shut planning in line with shut best practices and procedures.
    • Responsible for improvement specific training, coaching, and development of engineering personnel in the maintenance of electrical equipment consistent with regional maintenance best practices and operating objectives.
    • Advise and monitor on spares and materials strategies for electrical equipment.
    • Develop electrical engineering solutions and drive the implementation thereof, for repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations.
    • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment through the compliance to legal regulations and mill procedures (e.g., OHS Act, ISO systems, etc.)
    • Effectively direct team members in terms of performance management, talent management, goal alignment, career development and learning.
    • Responsible for selected capex cost control and effectiveness.

    What are we looking for?

    • BSc degree / BEng / BTech or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
    • Government Certificate of Competence Electrical (Factories) advantageous.
    • MDP or relevant management qualification will be advantageous.
    • Relevant experience 5 years.
    • Pulp and Paper Industry experience will be advantageous.
    • RCM, TPM and/or Lean Manufacturing experience will be advantageous.

    Outside Operator Outside Services

    As an Outside Operator Outside Services, you will be responsible for:

    • Take water and sewage samples to the laboratory.
    • Inspect North and East Storm water drains and report deviations.
    • Visit water, effluent and sewage plants to determine needs and supply accordingly.
    • Carry out river  and eye sampling and record flows (9 sampling points).
    • Carry out fresh water, sewage and Effluent lines inspections and report deviations.
    • Inspect reservoirs and pump stations (4 reservoirs, 6 pump stations) and take corrective action
    • Supply equipment and assist with cleaning of sewage maturation ponds every 3 months.
    • Assist with chlorine handling at the Sewage Plant.
    • Arrange the offloading of lime trucks at the water treatment plant monthly.
    • Assist with shut preparations and with various tasks during shuts.
    • Assist with troubleshooting regarding stormwater and sewage contamination.
    • Carry out various tasks as requested by the Outside Services Superintendent.
    • Assist with standby duties for Outside Services and Farm.
    • Perform v-norch measurement at Ngodwana Dam.
    • Assist with weekly and Dam inspections.
    • Distribution of coffee, tea and sugar monthly
    • Assist in general housekeeping for the Outside Services plants.
    • Assist and distribute consumables to the plants.
    • Assist maintaining, updating and prioritizing the shut list of the plant equipment.
    • Keep records of relevant operating information, mechanical and or electrical defects on the appropriate log sheets.
    • Communicate with the relevant person depending on who is responsible for the defect in the equipment.
    • SAP PM notifications.
    • Work Permit book.
    • OEE Entries.
    • Daily Log sheets.
    • Create a safe work environment by  identifying  and managing risks.
    • Reports accidents, injuries and fires immediately to the Superintendent.
    • Accountable to ensure adherence to all safety BP’s, procedures and BBS practices.
    • Ensure adherence to specific Legal regulatory requirements.
    • Do plant walkabouts and inspections and take corrective action where required.
    • Assist to achieve 5S status in area of responsibility.
    • Participate in the BBS program.
    • Self-Development (PDP).
    • Accurately capture data, enabling accurate plant efficiency calculations.
    • Record all relevant plant deviations and notifications.
    • Do time management
    • Management of safety file.
    • Distribute monthly pay slips and standby list to outside plant.

    What are we looking for? 

    • Matric with Maths and Physical Science or N3 Water and Wastewater treatment
    • National Diploma in Chemical Engineering or Water and Wastewater treatment will be advantageous. 
    • 2-3 Years relevant experience.

    Maintenance Manager - Electrical

    As a Maintenance Manager - Electrical, you will be responsible for/to: 

    • Participate in developing and executing the Mill maintenance and improvement strategy to ensure equipment availability and efficiency.
    • Accountable to provide Mill wide service in engineering installation, maintenance plan, and fault finding on DCS, QCS, and VSD Drives.
    • Accountable for the integrity of the protection on the 132kV yard and 11kV electrical power reticulation system.
    • Accountable for Mill wide engineering, fault-finding, and maintenance plans on all hydraulic installations.
    • Accountable for control of instrument valve repairs, during normal Mill operations and Mill shutdowns (Instrument Valve Workshop).

    • Accountable for Mill wide electrical engineering support for Capex and Renewal project implementation.
    • Responsible for the identification and management of relevant major upgrade projects.
    • Represent the Mill in regional standardisation processes.
    • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment through compliance with legal regulations and mill procedures (e.g. OHS Act, ISO systems)
    • Effectively direct electrical engineering and project team members, in terms of performance management, talent management, goal alignment, career development, and learning.
    • Compile and implement annual (electrical budget) and participate in long-term (5-year plan) financial business plans to execute the maintenance and improvement strategy.

    What are we looking for?

    • 4 Year B degree in Sciences or Engineering or National Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering (heavy current), with Recognition of Previous Learning or experience
    • Government Certificate of Competence (Factories)
    • Relevant management qualification 
    • Registration as a professional engineer would be advantageous
    • Relevant experience 8-10 years
    • Pulp and Paper Industry experience advantageous

    Superintendent : Mechanical (Recovery)

    As a Superintendent: Mechanical (Recovery), you will be responsible for:

    • Assess equipment, material, and labour required to complete large and/or complex maintenance tasks
    • Ensure maintenance activities meet set standards and resolve defined issues while reducing wasted resources
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement and maintain services and/or programs
    • Coordinate the services and activities of outside contractors to ensure work is completed in a safe, effective, and timely manner and meets Mill’s standards and objectives.
    • Directly assigned maintenance staff to resolve complex and/or difficult maintenance issues to ensure that Mill sections are maintained in a safe and effective working environment
    • Maintain a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records to provide up-to-date references that comply with regulatory requirements and established guidelines
    • Maintain assigned tools, equipment, and vehicle(s) to ensure their availability as needed to meet assigned maintenance objectives
    • Perform a wide variety of skilled maintenance activities to ensure that maintenance issues are resolved and projects are completed in a safe, effective, and timely manner.
    • Prepare a variety of program-mandated documents and reports to document activities and comply with Mill and/or legal requirements
    • Prioritize and assign mechanical-related orders to skilled maintenance staff to ensure that sections are maintained safely whilst meeting guidelines within the approved budget
    • Assist in the personnel management of department employees (e.g. selection of new hires, promotions, terminations, transfers, supervising, disciplining, training, etc.) ensuring adequate staffing and productivity of the workforce
    • Evaluate and direct the performance of the team against goals and standards to ensure maximum performance
    • Monitor subordinate’s performance against SHEQ requirements and correct non-conformances
    • Maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all time

    What are we looking for?

    • NQF4 qualification with a relevant Trade Test Certificate

    Commodity Specialist: ESD

    As a Commodity Specialist, you will be responsible for:

    SME Onboarding:

    • Engage and screen SMEs interested in participating in ESD programs.
    • Process necessary documentation for SME onboarding.
    • Coordinate and evaluate SME assessments, ensuring compliance and eligibility.
    • Verify data accuracy and communicate effectively with stakeholders throughout the onboarding process.

    ESD Program Execution Support:

    • Coordinate training interventions for SMEs in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
    • Engage both internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
    • Project manage service delivery involving multiple stakeholders, ensuring timely execution.
    • Track ESD interventions and provide regular progress updates.

    • Maintain an audit trail for B-BBEE verification purposes, including job creation, procurement, and expenditure records.
    • Conduct data analysis and processing to support ESD initiatives.

    • Provide support to internal stakeholders on the implementation of certain initiatives that relate to the ESD program and the broader procurement function.

    ESD Reporting:

    • Continuously track and record overall ESD activity, including milestones and achievements.
    • Maintain ESD data across multiple sources and systems to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
    • Structure reporting information according to stakeholder requirements, ensuring clarity and relevance.
    • Generate accurate reports on ESD programs for various stakeholders, including management meetings, Compliance Monitoring Committees (CMC), and Investment Committee Forums (ICF).

    What are we looking for:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
    • 3 – 5 years of experience in procurement, supplier development, or similar roles within a corporate environment.
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and prioritize tasks effectively.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
    • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, with a keen attention to detail.
    • Understanding of B-BBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment) requirements and verification processes is advantageous.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
