    Lecturer: Digital- and Leadership Acumen for Accountants

    Duties/Pligte        
    Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • The facilitation of learning, teaching and assessment activities in undergraduate modules in Digital- and Leadership Acumen and/or Business Ethics.
    • The participation in the development and implementation of online learning activities and assessments, including the development of simulations.
    • Supervision of postgraduate students in accountancy and related research fields.
    • Engaging in research and publishing academic work in accountancy and related research fields in reputable academic and peer-reviewed journals.
    • Participating in community interaction / social impact initiatives, including involvement in the SAICA's Thuthuka project.
    • Contributing to academic administration and service rendering.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        

    • An honours degree or postgraduate diploma (NQF 8) relevant to the subject area of digital acumen.
    • Academic excellence (evidenced by a full academic transcript) and/or proven academic research experience (a master's degree in the subject area of finance or business, or PhD, or publication(s) in DHET-approved journal(s)).
    • Strong MS Excel skills, which specifically include the demonstrated use of PivotTables and the automation of routine tasks using Macros and VBA.
    • The ability to lecture and function in a multilingual work environment and team.
    • A commitment to research and social impact/community involvement.
    • The ability to handle departmental administration.
    • The ability to work in a team.

    Recommendation/Aanbeveling        

    • Registration or eligibility to register with a professional body within the field of finance or business.
    • Previous instructional design or module development experience in higher education.
    • Practical exposure to MS Excel Modelling and/or ACL (Audit Command Language).
    • Practical exposure to Cloud ERP and/or Accounting Software.

    Proposal Developer

    Duties/Pligte        

    • Developing high-quality, funder-aligned proposals and related documents tailored for both local and international audiences across corporate, philanthropic, and development sectors.
    • Producing high quality sponsorship proposals that clearly articulate the commercial value of partnering with Stellenbosch University, and aligning opportunities with the strategic interests of corporate sponsors.
    • Coordinating the end-to-end proposal process, ensuring timelines, accuracy, and alignment with institutional priorities and the broader fundraising strategy.
    • Collaborating with project leaders and senior subject-matter experts to scope funding opportunities and translate complex ideas into compelling funding narratives and digestible language. 
    • Leading the development of bursary support proposals, with secondary involvement in select development-themed proposals (e.g. social impact, health, education).
    • Researching and analysing societal trends, funding landscapes, and stakeholder interests to craft relevant, high-impact proposals.
    • Drafting and iterating proposals, including developing itemised budgets, forecasting operational expenses, and integrating feedback from stakeholders and funders.
    • Contributing to refining internal systems and processes, including the use of templates, briefs, and workflows to increase efficiency and quality.
    • Providing technical proposal-writing guidance to faculty, researchers, and fundraising colleagues, enhancing proposal quality across the institution.
    • Supporting a culture of continuous improvement through monitoring proposal outcomes, integrating learnings, and contributing to key performance indicators and strategic goals.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        

    • Bachelor's degree (or NQF 7 equivalent qualification) in social sciences, journalism, commerce, or business management.
    • Three years' relevant proposal development experience.
    • Demonstrable ability to enable collaboration and to coordinate multiple parties¿ interests in a request for funding proposals.
    • Experience in a fundraising, research or technical writing environment with considerable business acumen will be advantageous.
    • The ability to process, analyse and logically structure project-related information into accesible  language that is clear to various funding audiences.
    • Demonstrable capacity in interpreting analytical reports, strategic plans, evaluations and desktop research.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and preferably also in a second official South African language.
    • The ability to multitask and work under pressure with speed, structure and accuracy.
    • Proven skills in using proposal writing to develop existing markets and successfully reach out to untapped markets.
    • A proven track record of proposal success.
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong customer service orientation towards both internal and external stakeholders.
    • The ability to manage and develop fundraising communications to a range of targeted audiences on various topics, with a particular emphasis on bursaries.
    • Proven success in working with cross-functional teams.
    • The ability to innovate and solve problems creatively, and proven flexibility in terms of new programmes and/or ideas and their evaluation.#

    Personal Assistant to the Senior Director

    Duties/Pligte        

    • Providing reception and administrative support to the Senior Director and the team, including diary and schedule management.
    • Assisting with the administration of meetings, e.g. agenda, minutes, actions.
    • Assisting with document management, including the drafting, formatting and collation of relevant documentation and presentations.
    • Establishing and maintaining accurate digital databases.
    • Making travel, transport and accommodation arrangements for the Senior Director.
    • Timeous and effective assistance with relevant registrations, e.g. conferences.
    • Timeously liaising with various internal and external service providers to ensure the effective functioning of the office.
    • Independently handling enquiries addressed to the office of the Senior Director.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        

    • At least an NQF level 6 administration or secretarial qualification, plus five years' relevant experience in administrative support at managerial level.
    • Proven ability to communicate effectively in the multilingual and multicultural environment in English and another official South African language.
    • The ability to liaise with individuals at management and other levels, both within and outside the University.
    • The ability to build and maintain relationships in order to gain support for initiatives and objectives.
    • Proven ability to effectively use office software, e.g. the Microsoft Office suite.
    • Proven financial administration experience.
    • The ability to function under work and time pressure without compromising accuracy and efficiency.
    • Excellent time management skills.

    Technical Officer (Post Level 9.2)

    Duties/Pligte        

    The incumbent will be responsible for all infrastructure needs and provide the technical support for efficient teaching and research in the department.

    The main duties include:

    • Liaising with the University's service departments, including maintenance services and Facilities Management.
    • Managing the departmental laboratories and storerooms, which includes equipment, geological and chemical inventories, gas supply and waste disposal.
    • Supporting financial administration related to the laboratories, storerooms, and equipment, which requires liaising with service providers to obtain quotations and placing orders.
    • Supporting class and field practicals with an emphasis on instrumental techniques and geo-science specific software, and providing technical hands-on training.
    • Providing technical research support to academic staff and postgraduate students.
    • Responsible for managing IT related needs, which requires liaising with SU IT, and providing software recommendations and installation support for general and geo-science specific applications.
    • Supporting financial administration related to the IT needs, e.g., computer and licence purchases.
    • Coordinating Occupational Health and Safety measures within the Department and addressing risks.
    • Assisting student administrative processes, e.g., training and allocation of student assistants.
    • Coordinating and managing the asset register and the needs of the facilities.
    • Managing support staff assigned to the post.
    • Providing ad hoc support for the administrative team in the Department.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        

    • At least a BSc honours degree in geosciences, or an equivalent technical qualification at NQF level 7 with appropriate work experience in a geosciences environment.
    • Proven relevant post-degree experience in research and development.
    • Proven practical experience in geoscience related equipment uses and maintenance.
    • Proven exposure to obtaining quotes and placing orders.
    • Excellent computer skills in the use of Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), and discipline relevant software applications.
    • Excellent communication skills in English, as well as interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to perform administrative and financial tasks, including obtaining quotations and placing orders, gathering/analysing/compiling data, report preparation, and recordkeeping/filing.

    Recommendation/Aanbeveling        

    • Willingness to follow an open-door policy regarding students and staff.
    • Practical and proactive, willing to take responsibility and to learn new skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal skills in Afrikaans and/or isiXhosa.
    • Record of formal health and safety training.
    • Experience with database submission portals similar to those at SU, e.g., SUNFin.
