    Manager: ICT Infrastructure

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Grade 12.
    • Degree/ B Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related.

    TECHNICAL / LEGAL CERTIFICATION / PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION

    • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher (e.g., CCIE).
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or equivalent Microsoft/Linux expert certification.
    • ITIL Foundation v4 (or higher) certification.

    EXPERIENCE

    • 10 years’ experience in ICT Infrastructure management.
    • With at least 3 years’ experience in managing people.
    • Experience with ICT infrastructure project management.

    CRITICAL PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Provide leadership and direction to server and network infrastructure team members.
    • Contribute to the implementation of divisional strategies and plans and align these strategies and plans with the departmental and corporate objectives.
    • Manage, develop, mentor, maintain and motivate individuals and teams and to build constructive relationships between individuals within the section.
    • Conduct performance management of the team by concluding performance contracts, monitoring performance and providing feedback on performance to all team members.
    • Communicate all relevant information to team members via team meetings and all other relevant forms of communication.
    • Facilitate effective corporate governance business practices.
    • Manage and improve the services/products provided to the customer base.
    • Contribute to the development of policies and practices that affects the entire function/department within the framework of the organisation’s policy.
    • Develop and maintain constructive relationships between stakeholders (internal and external) in order to promote synergy and build a productive business environment.
    • Provide input to divisional budget and manage expenditure for the server and network infrastructure environment.
    • Lead in the planning and coordination of the design, implementation and management of the server and network environment.

    • Negotiate and manage Operational Level Agreements.
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of IT infrastructure professionals.
    • Participate in the Enterprise Architecture process for the selection of ICT infrastructure and solutions.
    • Enforce standards, processes, and best practices for service delivery in the server and network environment.
    • Develop and implement ICT infrastructure strategies, policies, and procedures.
    • Write operational and problem investigative reports to senior management and peers, proposing solutions to problems and issues.
    • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the objectives and challenges in the server and network environment are met and dealt with.
    • Take the lead in solving complex problems in the server and network environment.
    • Support and implement the initiatives as defined in the ICT strategy.
    • Provide guidance on the analyses and defining of the user/client requirements.
    • Develop objectives to address client needs through continuous process improvement.
    • Make decisions relating to server and network infrastructure problem resolution and performance improvements.
    • Manage server and network infrastructure related and internal ICT projects.
    • Manage corporate server and network equipment and their replacement cycles in accordance to replace life cycles and motivate the required budget and roll out plan.
    • Implement, coordinate and manage ICT infrastructure Enterprise-wide services. 
    • Develop objectives to address client needs through continuous process improvement.
    • Manage disaster recovery and business continuity plans for ICT systems.
    • Compile technical specifications and manage 3rd party contracts related to the server and network environment.
    • Develop, implement and maintain procedures and practices in support of the ITIL framework methodologies within the server and network environment.

    Engineer: Software Systems

    QUALIFICATIONS 

    • Essential: Grade 12 Degree in either Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.
    • Added Advantage: Honours Degree in one of the above-mentioned fields ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer

    Experience: 

    • Essential: 4 years’ experience Experience in integrating software to hardware. Key experience in programming and developing using C++, C#, Python or Java and many more. Experience in computer networking.

    CRITICAL PERFORMANCE AREA 

    • To execute functions associated to the electromagnetic systems applicable to the Maritime / Naval Environment including Radio Communications, Radar and Electronic Warfare (EW).
    • To execute medium complexity RF and Hardware design tasks.
    • To assist during the design, enhancement and testing the accuracy of tracking radar systems.
    • To setup, design and develop computer models in order to simulate, interpret results and to perform mathematical verification.
    • To utilise software models in order to simulate, verify or interpret raw data or trial results.
    • To develop software for systems integration, sensor data capturing and human-machine interface.
    • Analyse data, interpret results, propose actions / recommendations and write technical reports.
    • Be responsible for making low to medium complex engineering decisions as part of engineering activities.
    • Communicate and network with clients in support of IMT objectives.
    • Undertake professional development activities, sufficient to maintain and extend competence in specified areas.
    • Network with industry, academia, etc. to be aware of the latest available technology in area of expertise.
    • Enhance client relationship to ensure continuation of business.
    • Responsible for appropriate allocated ad hoc tasks (e.g. organizational, technical, sea going, diving, SHEQ. Etc.)

    Artisan: Process Operator/Assembler

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Essential:

    • Grade 12 (with Mathematics and Physical Science) or NQF Level 4 or higher in a relevant technical field
    • Trade Test – Process/Chemical Plant Operator
    • Technical/vocational training in Process Technology, Chemical Engineering or Industrial Operations

    Added Advantage:

    • Safety training certifications (e.g., SHEQNOSASAMTRAC)

    EXPERIENCE
    Essential: 

    • 4-6 years of experience in a production or process plant environment
    • Experience in the handling, mixing, storage and weighing of chemicals 
    • Experience on handling industrial equipment, processes and relevant technologies
    • Adhering to safety protocols and procedures

    CRITICAL PERFORMANCE AREAS

    The incumbent will be responsible to perform the following functions but not limited to; 

    Chemical plant process operations

    • Chemical impregnation of activated carbon – Prepare equipment for the impregnation process. Accurately weigh the correct quantity and type of chemicals and add to the impregnation process as is prescribed in the documented work instructions to ensure that quality products that comply with the specification requirement are manufactured.
    • Ensure that chemicals are mixed as per the relevant WI and batch tickets. If not done correctly the carbon will not pass the quality test and money will be wasted.
    • Correct handling of chemicals is crucial as chemicals used include bases, acids and other inorganic chemicals which have harmful side effects, if not handled correctly.
    • Strictly follow the applicable impregnation procedure and record all batch information, mass, carbon type, temperature, etc. electronically on the impregnation system to create a database for future improvement studies and for record and traceability purposes. Print and keep data on file.
    • Stock control of raw materials and finished goods to be able to accurately account for stock at month-end for cost of sales purposes.
    • Build stock on the Pegasus stock control system upon completion of a carbon batch.

    Teamwork
    Working effective and sufficiently independently and as part of a team to achieve set production and output targets.
    Quality Assurance

    • Receive raw materials used in the carbon plant to ensure that the correct grade and type are delivered for impregnation purposes.
    • Pack and send carbon, cartridge and canister samples to the test laboratory to obtain product approval. Compile laboratory requests for analysis and keep records of test certificates for quality assurance purposes.
    • Ensure conformance to quality procedures and capture data correctly for record-keeping purposes. 

    Safety Management / Safety Execution

    • Keep carbon plant, equipment and work areas clean and organized (housekeeping) to minimize incidents / accidents that can lead to injuries and damage to equipment.
    • Always wear safety equipment (PPE) as prescribed by the impregnation procedure to prevent injuries.
    • Identify any potential hazards pro-actively, report and ensure controls are put in place.
    • Replacing filters at required intervals to prevent chemical vapours to be released.
    • Problem-Solving - apply creative techniques to solve problems until it can be reported to the Foreman for more permanent repair

    Maintenance of carbon plant equipment

    • To ensure all first line maintenance activities are done on plant & equipment to prevent breakdowns and possible manufacturing delays. Clean and replace filters.
    • Report all faults and broken machinery in the carbon plant to the Production Foreman to ensure that equipment receives immediate attention and that they are properly maintained to prevent major equipment breakdowns that will lead to downtime and monetary loss.
    • Report all defects on carbon batches and machinery immediately to the Production Foreman to prevent the manufacturing of defective carbon batches that can be detrimental to the end user of respiratory equipment and it can also lead a costly recall of defective carbon batches.
    • Monitoring the acid content of the scrubber unit – if this is not done correctly, ammonia vapours will escape and neighbours might start complaining (legal requirement) 

    Production
    Canister respiratory products – All the tasks below are done to assemble and manufacture a canister filter:

    • Process (pleat, glue and cut) HEPA filter media with minimal rejects.
    • Assemble canister components (carbon filling, ultrasonic welding, inkjet marking, stickers and product labelling, vacuum pack and final packaging) that comply with acceptable quality standards.

    Cartridge respiratory products – All the tasks below are done to assemble and manufacture a cartridge filter:

    • Assemble cartridge components (carbon filling, ultrasonic welding, labelling and final packaging) that comply with acceptable quality standards.
    • Keep workstations, equipment and work areas clean and organized (housekeeping) to minimise incidents that can lead to injuries and damage to equipment.
    • Working effective and sufficiently as a team and achieve set production and output targets

    Machines

    • Change and set machines for the different products to be manufactured in an acceptable time to minimize loss in production and minimise rejects.
    • Report all faults and broken machines to Production Foreman to ensure that equipment receive immediate attention and that they are properly maintained to prevent major equipment breakdowns that will lead to downtime and monetary loss and accidents.
    • Report all defects on products or machinery immediately to the Production Foreman to prevent the manufacturing of defective items that can be detrimental to the end user of respiratory equipment and it can also lead a costly recall of defective products.
