    Clinical Facilitator – Medicare Private Hospital

    Critical Outputs

    • Effective management of CPD & other programs for qualified nurses
    • Plan, co-ordinate and participate in nursing competency requirements of the hospital and nursing function strategy
    • Provide coaching and mentoring to staff to ensure clinical competence.
    • Effective management of the risk bases in-service training programs (including quality)
    • Plan, co-ordinate and monitor risk based in-service training programs.
    • Participate in incident investigation.
    • Participate in hospital quality projects, provide feedback, identify deviations and take remedial action where necessary.
    • Identify risks and competence in use of products through in-service training.
    • Effective management of internal and approved external student clinical programs (i.e. planning, facilitating and evaluating)

    Requirements

    • Diploma/Degree in Nursing (with appropriate specialization)
    • Post registration nursing experience within relevant healthcare environment
    • Current registration with SANC and Registered Assessor with SANC
    • Proven clinical leadership expertise
    • Specific knowledge and understanding of the legislation governing the practice of nursing
    • Knowledge of nursing education systems and legislation
    • Computer proficiency
    • Driver’s license and ability to travel

    Administrative Assistant (Adult ICU) – Medicare Private Hospital

    Description

    • A vacancy exists for an Administrative Assistant (AICU) reporting to the Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the efficient operation of hospital wards through a combined role that ensures accurate patient billing, effective stock control, and comprehensive administrative support.
    • This position is vital in managing ward supplies, capturing patient and financial data, and serving as the key administrative liaison for the ward.
    • The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that stock levels meet patient care needs, billing is processed correctly and promptly, and clerical tasks are handled efficiently, contributing to the overall delivery of high-quality patient care and operational excellence.

    Critical Outputs

    Stock Control & Inventory Management:

    • Monitor and maintain ward-level inventory (medical consumables, linen, stationery, etc.).
    • Record stock movements accurately in the system and reconcile usage.
    • Conduct regular stock counts and audits in collaboration with the central store or pharmacy.
    • Prevent stock shortages and overstocking through proactive ordering and tracking.
    • Ensure all stock is stored securely, neatly, and in accordance with safety guidelines.
    • Dispose of expired or damaged stock according to hospital protocols
    • Patient Billing & Revenue Cycle Management:
    • Capture and process patient billing data (admissions, services, procedures, consumables).
    • Verify patient demographic and insurance information.
    • Coordinate with finance, nursing, and pharmacy to ensure all billable items are correctly documented.
    • Resolve patient or payer billing queries efficiently.
    • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in patient financial records
    • Ward Secretary & Administrative Support:
    • Manage patient files, admissions/discharges, and update ward registers and documentation.
    • Handle incoming calls, messages, and communication for the ward.
    • Schedule patient investigations, consultations, and appointments as requested by clinicians.
    • Support ward staff with clerical and administrative tasks.
    • Ensure accurate data entry into the hospital patient information system.
    • Order and manage non-medical supplies (e.g. stationery, staff supplies) for the ward.
    • Maintain cleanliness and professional presentation of the ward reception/office area.
    • Assist with staff shifting in the ward if required.
    • Assist Unit Manager with Time and attendance and HR related matters.
    • Ensure that the nursing staff are informed of new memorandums distributed by the business.
    • Interdepartmental Coordination & Compliance:
    • Liaise with pharmacy, procurement, finance, and nursing staff for cross-functional collaboration.
    • Participate in stock, finance, and administrative audits.
    • Follow all hospital policies, including confidentiality, safety, procurement, and financial practices.

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 or equivalent; certification or diploma in Office Administration, or related field preferred an added benefit.
    • Minimum 2 years in a healthcare setting in an administrative, billing, and inventory role.
    • Proficiency in hospital management systems
    • Strong computer literacy (MS Office), communication, multitasking, accuracy, and time management.

    Quality Manager – Medicare Private Hospital

    Description

    • A vacancy exists for a Quality Manager reporting to the Hospital Manager. The successful candidate will form part of the multidisciplinary team ensuring that all our patients receive comprehensive quality nursing care.

    Critical Outputs

    • Risk Management assessment of all relevant clinical procedures and implementation of controls.
    • Quality management and infection control.
    • Compiling and management of quality processes in the hospital.
    • Managing, reporting, investigation and close out of all quality and environmental incidents and deviations to standards in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
    • Measuring performance against the quality objectives, evaluating the results and co-ordinate corrective action where necessary, together with the multidisciplinary team.
    • Conducting risk assessments on an annual basis, together with multidisciplinary team, in accordance with legal requirements
    • Monitoring and review of hazard/risk management quarterly, together with multidisciplinary team.
    • Monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of actions taken to mitigate/control risk, together with the multidisciplinary team.
    • Maintaining and updating of risk register.
    • Coordinating the hospital Health & Safety Committee meetings.
    • Ensuring that all legal appointments are made, staff trained in the requirements of such appointments and legal requirements are adhered to.
    • Guiding the Hospital Manager on health and safety related issues to ensure that the legal requirements are adhered to for staff safety.
    • Coordination of employee injuries and occupational disease reporting - internally and externally.

    Requirements

    • Registered with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse.
    • Advantageous - Diploma in Healthcare Management, Risk management and infection control
    • Knowledge and skill in quality assurance, improvement of quality, infection control, health and safety, training and development, risk management and administration
    • At least 3 years’ experience in private healthcare.
    • Computer proficiency.
