    • At least two years’ teaching/lecturing/industry experience relevant to the subject fields.

    • Evidence of progress towards a Doctoral degree specialising in construction health and safety management.
    • Any acknowledged publication, research, innovation or creative output in construction health and safety management.

    Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or Experience

    • Master’s degree (e.g., MSc / MTech / M. Eng) with a relevant degree in Built Environment (Construction Management or Quantity Surveying or Construction Project Management) or Civil Engineering or Engineering Management.
    • Ten (10) years’ experience in managing building construction projects, building maintenance, facilities and asset management, infrastructure planning, with 5 years’ people management experience.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing infrastructure portfolios within a public/private-sector or higher education environment, including compliance, audit, and governance requirements.
    • Professional registration such as ECSA, SACPCMP, SACQSP, or equivalent.
    • Sound knowledge in areas of Estates and Facilities management.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Understanding of health & safety, construction, labour, and environmental legislation, e.g., LRA, BBBEE, BCE, OHS Act.
    • Knowledge and understanding of building and construction codes and regulations.

    • Master’s degree in Built Environment (e.g. MSc Built Environment or MTech Construction Management), Civil Engineering or Engineering Management together with an Estate and Infrastructure Management qualification

    Minimum Qualification Knowledge and/or Experience

    • A relevant Bachelor’s degree (BEng, BScEng, BEngTech Hons, or equivalent) at NQF Level 8 in Civil Engineering.
    • Registration as a PrEng or PrTechEng (Civil Engineering) with ECSA.
    • Evidence of progress towards a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
    • At least three years’ teaching/industry experience in the relevant subject field.

    OR

    • A relevant Master’s degree (MEng, MScEng, MTech, or equivalent) at NQF Level 9 in Civil Engineering.
    • Registration as a Candidate Engineer/Engineering Technologist supported by proof that an application for PrEng/PrTechEng (Civil Engineering) registration with ECSA was submitted and is currently under final review.
    • At least two years’ teaching/industry experience in the relevant subject field.

    Demonstrated knowledge, proficiency, application, and practical experience of:

    • Foundational technical drawings, manual (hand) drawings, engineering CAD drawings and modelling, and the application of drawing tools/techniques in urban planning and design at well-defined and broadly-defined levels.
    • CAD drawings inclusive of sectional views and structural element sections, elevation drawings, plan layouts, reinforced concrete detailing and structural steelwork, bending schedules, orthographic and isometric projections, framework analyses, architectural drawings, contour plans and mapping, and earthworks and mass-haul diagrams.
    • CAD drawings for civil engineering infrastructure, e.g., buildings, roads, and water, stormwater, and sewer reticulation systems.
    • General civil design principles and the integration/incorporation thereof in engineering drawings.
    • Software applications related to engineering drawings, e.g., AutoDesk (AutoCAD, Civil-3D & Infraworks), ArcGIS, QGIS, and SketchUp.
    • A strong working knowledge of AutoDesk (AutoCAD 2D drafting and 3D modelling), e.g., ability to create and edit engineering plans, sections and detail drawings, and setting up layers, blocks, title blocks, and standard templates.
    • A strong working knowledge of AutoDesk (Civil-3D), e.g., proficiency in surface modelling and terrain analyses, corridor modelling for roads and highways, intersection design, road alignments, pipe networks for water, stormwater and sewer systems, profiles, and assemblies and quantity take-offs.

    Desired Qualification, Knowledge and/or Experience 

    • Master’s degree at NQF Level 9 in Civil Engineering plus PrEng/PrTechEng (Civil Eng.) registration with ECSA if in possession of an NQF 8 qualification.
    • Evidence of progress towards a Doctorate degree in Civil Engineering if in possession of a Master’s degree.
    • AutoDesk Certification or equivalent credential.
    • Evidence of work experience in the subject field covering all phases of the project life cycle.
    • Evidence of experience in research and associated outputs.
    • Community engagement services in the profession, e.g., consultancies and professional activities.
