    Coordinator: Collegial Clusters

    Main Objectives

    • To ensure the smooth coordination of the collegial cluster programme in all its facets.
    • Deliver high-quality teaching and research within the programme.
    • Deliver accurate reporting on the collegial cluster coordination and maintain records of the related activities.

    The Requirements

    A B Degree (NQF Level 7) combined with a Teaching Qualification. This should be coupled with 5 years of classroom Mathematics Education experience, which includes: -

    • Teaching experience as a classroom mathematics teacher up to at least grade 10
    • Experience with the facilitation of learning to adults will be an advantage
    • Exposure to the field of Mathematics Education by working in rural communities in a teacher professional development programme
    • Coordinator of a professional development programme
    • Experience in report writing
    • Experience in setting mathematics examinations and assessments, including the written evaluation thereof
    • Experience in conducting site visits as part of assessment
    • A record of academic writing would be an advantage

    Senior Lecturer

    Main Objectives

    • All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research), and engaging with the community, and for recognising differences in the execution of these responsibilities across the various departments and Faculties.
    • Academics are also expected to assume administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, faculty, and/or university levels. 

    The Requirements

    • PhD in Information Systems or equivalent, in exceptional circumstances, a Master’s Degree in Information Systems or equivalent, where the completion of the PhD is imminent (a letter from the supervisor stating that the PhD has been or is about to be submitted for examination).
    • Professional experience in: Information Systems or equivalent

    Academic experience:

    • Teaching and course creation experience at the undergraduate and/or post-graduate levels required.
    • Experience in teaching in the following disciplinary areas and skillsets: Data Analytics, Digital transformation and experience, Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Computing.
    • Research supervision with a track record of at least a Master’s degree required

    No Academic experience:

    • Leader in training and/or mentorship in the workplace
    • Ability to teach any one or more of the disciplinary areas
    • Leader in their professional arena
    • Emerging national profile in Information Systems or relevant discipline
    • Track record of administration, management and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal)

    Readvertising: Professor/Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry

    Main Objectives

    • All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research), and community engagement, recognizing differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties.

    Associate Professor:

    • Experience teaching topics related to kinetics, electrochemistry, separation techniques, atomic & molecular spectroscopy and group theory.
    • Track record in Master’s and Doctoral supervision to completion.
    • International profile in the discipline.
    • Track record of research publications in analytical chemistry and in attracting research funding.
    • Track record of administration, management, and leadership roles and be willing to take on the role of the Head of Department when required.

    Professor:

    • At least a PhD in Chemistry.

    Professor/ Associate Professor

    Main Objectives: 

    • All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), the creation of knowledge (research), and community engagement, recognising that these responsibilities are executed differently across the various departments and Faculties. 
    • Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management and/or leadership duties at the departmental, faculty, and/or University level.
    • In addition, Professors and Associate Professors are to provide academic leadership in the following areas: teaching and learning; research and community engagement; and institutional governance. This leadership contribution at these levels should be evidenced at the departmental, faculty, and institutional levels.

    The Requirements

    Professor:

    A PhD in Law with an LLB from a South African University, coupled with 10 years of relevant experience, where such experience includes:

    • Extensive teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Master’s and PhD in a university context, preferably in Public Law
    • Excellent professional track record
    • Excellent track record of training and mentoring of junior staff
    • Excellent record of supervision of junior staff, including candidate attorneys
    • Research supervision of Master’s and PhD Degrees
    • National and emerging international profile in the discipline

    Associate Professor:

    A PhD in Law with an LLB from A South African University, coupled with 7-10 years of relevant experience, where such experience includes:

    • Considerable teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Master’s and PhD, preferably in a university context, preferably in Procedural Law
    • Being an admitted Attorney is advantageous
    • Excellent track record of training and mentoring junior staff
    • Strong record of supervision of junior staff, including candidate attorneys
    • Research supervision of Master’s and PhD Degrees
    • National and emerging international profile in the discipline
